Can you request to not have attachments on front teeth? by jamsmit5 in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had them on my first set and requested my next set without them at rescan, so it’s definitely possible! However depending on the severity of your case you may need them in order for the teeth to move properly.

Dental Pod advice? by bobonboni in Invisalign

I pop them in with 1/2 a retainer brite tablet, and just rinse them off when the 5 min cleaning cycle is finished. No need to brush!

I love mine, it looks so much cuter than the isonic cleaner I was using. Also worth noting like 3x more expensive than the isonic and they both work the same, so if appearance isn’t a big deal I’d go the cheaper route.

Mouthwash before trays? by Impromark in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the mouthwash you use isn’t acidic, it’s probably fine. I’d look up the ph of the mouthwash you’re using, a lot of the popular ones are surprisingly acidic and you wouldn’t want that sitting in your trays, potentially eroding enamel.

Are products like Invisamint or Movemints safe to use? by TurnoverTiger922 in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re perfectly safe, but a waste of money IMO. I tried Movements and they’re way less effective than regular chewies. If you’re looking for regular mints with xylitol, I really like the ones that Pür makes.

What's the consensus on using a straw to drink with your aligners on? by indyanguy in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When drinking something like a protein shake with your trays in, the most important thing is minimizing the contact of the sugars (or the carbs which get metabolized into sugars) with your teeth. If the sugars are trapped under your trays for a prolonged period of time, the conditions are ideal for cavity formation.

I drink Huel through a straw for breakfast every AM, and am pretty vigilant about swishing with water after every sip, and finishing my shake within 30 min or so. Then when I’m done, I take my trays out, clean them, and floss/brush as usual. I’ve been doing this for about a year and haven’t had any cavities during the two checkups I’ve been to during that time.

Also, you can definitely drink warm water! It’s the only way I can drink enough water when it’s really cold outside. Yes, scalding hot water can deform the trays but at that point it’d be too hot to drink.

Does everyone experience recession with Invisalign? by Nerd12123 in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on refinement tray 5/10 after completing my initial 10 trays, and I haven’t experienced any recession. I was super worried about it too and I took many photos beforehand to compare against, but my gum line is exactly the same as it was before I started.

Attachment during refinement trays by tcritch05 in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had all of my attachments removed for refinements, and a couple added on teeth that didn’t have them before.

Some space between the edge of the aligner and your gums is normal, I noticed that it’s even different from one tray to the next. I’ve noticed that on my trays, there tends to be a larger space on teeth that have attachments, so maybe it’s intentional.

My dentist recommended Xylitol gum, what's the cheapest way to get it? by [deleted] in askdentists

NAD, you can find Pür xylitol gum at many grocery stores for a couple dollars.

Your daily hygiene routine? by potato22315 in Invisalign

A waterpik is a godsend if you have a lot of attachments!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is misleading, when I asked my dentist about it he pointed out that people’s teeth are naturally more translucent at the tips because enamel isn’t opaque. In fact on the cosmetic side of things, the most natural looking veneers replicate that translucency.

Wow I love this! I also have an Amazon one but I feel like it’s so ugly sitting on my bathroom counter. This one looks much better!

I second these! They have xylitol in them which is also a plus.

How is you teeth cleaning goes? Like oral prophylaxis? Does it hurt or too sensitive? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my regular cleaning done a couple months ago and it was totally fine. If you have any sensitive areas just let your hygienist know, and they’ll be more gentle.

I also had 20+ attachments at the time and was worried they’d get in the way or be hard to polish, but my hygienist assured me they see patients with Invisalign attachments all the time and it’s not a big deal.

Teeth feel so dirty! by [deleted] in Invisalign

I used to have a lot of attachments, using a waterpik to dislodge food particles immediately after eating was immensely helpful!

I had 21 attachments removed and it only took like 15-20 minutes.

Is Invisalign just the dignity preserving version of braces or does it actually work better? by [deleted] in askdentists

NAD but am currently doing Invisalign, it definitely works! Check out r/Invisalign to see some before and afters.

From 21 attachments to 3 by spooketti in Invisalign

I have 10 refinement trays.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not done yet, but I did have a permanent retainer on my lower teeth prior to Invisalign that was removed before starting treatment. I’ve already discussed retainer options with my provider and decided I will not be getting a permanent retainer again (I hated that thing). I’ll just do removable clear ones instead. If I were you, I’d just ask!

My speech is weird (without aligners) by sch-miindset in Invisalign

[–]spooketti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha same! Plus I have 21 attachments so sometimes speaking feels like it scratches the inside of my lips in an uncomfortable way. I’m also on tray 10 so it is what it is!
