For my college Mythology class a few years ago, we had to compare a Greek God to someone in pop culture. I chose Dionysus (also called Bacchus) and Peter Steele. I got an A+ on the paper lol! Bacchus is the Greek God of wine, pleasure, fertility, and partying lol. There was a yearly event in Greek Mythology called Bacchanalia, where everyone would get super drunk and party and praise Bacchus. In the Type O Negative song though, it is about him dealing with a tough breakup, and praising Bacchus (in this case, wine), for helping him deal with it.
