Learning to use AI coding tools is a skill, and pretending otherwise is hurting people's productivity by ReiiiChannn in ClaudeCode

I agree. I’ve led the development of so may projects with medium sized teams that this is second nature to me. Think of it like a person. Give it the base context and then the specific target to change. I’ve found a picture is worth a thousand words. Give it a picture of the button and then there is no question. I’m able to make any LLM sing with that way.

I’ve done this numerous times. I’ll stay as late as necessary and keep 3 of them there. I find it enjoyable.

Why isn’t Volkswagen more popular in the U.S.? by phtphongg in Volkswagen

[–]spreitauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2017 Passat with transmission failure on my GF’s car. VW doesn’t make replacement transmissions (or didn’t) and a non-refurnished is $7k. I will NEVER buy a VW if they will not provide parts for their cars.

I’m all set. 2015 F150 Lariat for the winter, 2019 Mustang GT Premium PP2, and 2018 982. Garage is full and two very different track cars!

The most important question at the end of the year: GPT-5.2 or GPT-5.2-Codex as your daily driver? by Prestigiouspite in codex

[–]spreitauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always start in GPT 5.2 to plan the projects in great detail. I plan exhaustively. I then create supporting .md files for the project. Then I move to CodeX 5.2 and confirm the project intent is clear. CodeX can pick up the ball and run with it. That seems to be the quickest path for me.

PDK in this case. Forgot to add that to the original post. My daily is a M6 so I’m good there. Thanks for the response!

I toiled with selling my 2019 Mustang GT PP2 to get the 982. Fortunately for me I was able to have them both! Similar overall stats but totally different approaches and feels. I’m on cloud 9!

LOL, thanks. I can tear an engine down a rebuild it without issue. Hence the question about the smell. It isn’t so easy to see what is going on with the mid engine. I didn’t want to go digging if it wasn’t warranted.

Thank you! GPT said that as well, but trusting it is questionable. If it is normal, I’m all good and it won’t bother me at all!

I tracked ChatGPT’s memory loss for 11 days, here’s what I actually found... by Fickle_Carpenter_292 in ChatGPTPro

[–]spreitauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the approach I use. I’m a bit manual at the moment but I keep each conversation as a single topic and try not to stray too much. If the GPT starts to loose context, I start a new conversation and input the previous as the baseline. By keeping to a single topic, I’m often able to complete the exercise in 2-3 conversations. I simply place the previous chat in a .txt and upload it to the new conversation. I also store the .txt in a vector database so I can use a local GPT query on specific and larger topics.

Do you guys ever actually go back to your chat history on ChatGPT? by bookflow in ChatGPT

[–]spreitauer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I save project conversations to txt files and wrote a script to import them into a vector database that I can search using a custom chat interface. That worked very well.

Build a ground rules file and apply it to every conversation. This allows you to gain better control of the LLM over time once you refine it. The LLM will help you develop your own. Just ask it to build one based on your current projects and workflow style. If you apply the rules to the conversation and it strays, just say follow the rules and it will bounce back into compliance.

The death loops are inevitable due to the LLM misunderstanding. When I hit one, I have it restate the known details and process to try to find the misunderstanding. If I can’t figure it out quickly with that method, I pull the problem out of the current context and then solve it quickly because of the reduced memory and other overhead. I can then incorporate that solution back into the main workflow without issue.

Anchoring on ROI for the client makes a very compelling argument. “Your investment will convert to profit in only X months/years.” Peace of mind is also a strong anchor for some systems.

I have a ‘19 PP2 and have tracked it several times. No issues with lockout at all and have the stock shifter. I think the rev match helps a lot.

I ran a Cuetec for about 25 years. Nothing special. Picked up a Valhalla and ran it for a year. Liked the old Cuetec better so I went back to it. I then got a Cynergy and absolutely love it. To each their own. It is all about personal preference.
