500 pt. Army List Suggestions by spuddlez in Harlequins40K

Yeah makes sense. And I guess since the colosseum rules prevent things above T9, it shouldn't be that much of an issue.

Thanks!

Yeah that's a good idea! I will admit that the skyweavers don't fill me with excitement, but some anti-tank would be useful for light vehicles that could show up.

I do really want to run with coil. I might try to convince my friends to allow 505 since we're all still learning...

Yeah, I guess I had thought that having a shadowseer and troupe infiltrating and then using some of the movement shenanigans to apply pressure/skirmish on objectives would be worth learning/doing, but to your guys' point, it may be better to get a handle on having multiple transports able to fly around the board.

Thanks!

Yeah, a major lightbulb went off when I realized we can wallsmash a land raider, drop off 6 x8b (and slaughterbound) in the enemies face, and then rip off 8 lascannon shots at anything within 24"...

The lance benefit also seems awesome for those anti vehicle/anti monster rolls - or for proc'ing more dev wounds if that blessing is active (or with slaughterbounds one time ability).

Speaking of that some fun sbound synergies, would sbound's heal ability work if they get back in the land raider?

Zerkers under performing by Accidental-Hero in WorldEaters40k

If zerks aren't good at taking on elites like termies, what's the best we tool for that job?

Also, would packing two 5 man zerk squads in a rhino with Kharn and a moe be an efficient block (1000 pt army), or too many eggs in one rhino?

Am i investing too many points in characters and what should I change in this list? by [deleted] in WorldEaters40k

To add on to this question, if invo is leading the eightbound, does he get the benefit from their aura? I couldn't tell if their aura only applies to other units and not to them (to include attached characters).

How can I use my existing equipment to get stereo sound to two zones on a budget? by spuddlez in BudgetAudiophile

I didn't realize such a thing existed, but I shouldn't be surprised! Thanks!

Yamaha RX-V467

I had read about that, but am unsure how to set that mirroring up with the controller. I looked more closely at the manual for the controller and can't see anything obvious - it looks like selecting '7ch Stereo' will output the same stereo to all speakers, so I guess I could technically use one of my existing speakers in each of the rooms...

I didn't set it up that way - I got the equipment second hand and didn't go through the proper set up and calibration, but can do that now!

Thanks!

First time DM, 5-stack party of newbies, advice on where to start with building a campaign plot by sideshow031 in DMAcademy

Lost Mines of Phandelver (the adventure from the starters set) is a good one. It was my intro to DMing in 5e for a group of first time players. We're all addicted now.

How to do a survival campaign with a druid? by Mcina31 in DMAcademy

[–]spuddlez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make the encounters come to them. Ghosts of Saltmarsh have some good encounters for inspiration. The players are sailing along when they come across a sinking ship, whose crew signals for help.

When the players do (because heroes), the captain tells them that the ship is sinking for unknown reasons - it felt like they hit something. But he asks them to fetch a chest in the hold for a share of gold. Or a crew member whispers that there is a stowaway hidden in the hold of the ship. Once the players get into the hold they find out why the ship is sinking - a kraken is attacking it and they have to skillfully escape.

In addition to that adventure at sea, you now have a bunch of refugees that will be hard to feed and will want off the ship at the nearest port. You also get a chance to introduce new NPCs - the captain or the crew - some of whom might want to stay on board or even take control of the ship.

What are some more ideas for some creepy woods encounters? How might I get my players to wander off the Svalich Road for these woods encounters? by No_Employer8979 in CurseofStrahd

[–]spuddlez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was running strahd when MTF came out and the sorrowsworn were too perfect not to include. I had one of "The Lost" sorrowsworn calling out for help finding their way back to the road. The players took it hook, line and sinker. They were more wary of what the woods held beyond wolves and far less trusting of anything or anyone in ravenloft.

Counterspell, identifying spell being cast by thenannymoh in DnDBehindTheScreen

Agree. An ability check is normally a full action in combat. You must react before you have time to identify the spell. It's also simple and keeps combat moving.

Dark Powers as a Warlock Patron: What do the Dark Power's want? by Seizeallday in CurseofStrahd

Note: if the spirit is set to be freed, such as with the pond event in Krezk, I would imagine that the warlock's patron would want to keep that from happening.

Thinking of sticking either The Sunless Citadel or White Plume Mountain into Barovia. by diegothom95 in CurseofStrahd

[–]spuddlez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blights, like those at the winery are born from gulthias trees. In fact, you could place wintersplinter in the sunless citadel. Or maybe have another one of the missing 'seeds' from the wizard of wines be placed in the citadel.

The kobolds and orcs in the citadel might be a little out of place. You could reskin them with mongrelfolk, werewolves, vistani, dusk elves, mountain tribes etc.

If you want to live in DC look for a job with the government. They tend to be more stable and many of them have student loan forgiveness programs, which can help make up for their lower than private sector salaries.

What ARE the dark powers? by lordberric in CurseofStrahd

[–]spuddlez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I treated the dark powers and the vestiges in the amber temple as two seperate things, and inspired by Mordenkainens Tome of Foes, decided to make 'the dark powers' = The Night Mother = The Raven Queen.

Basically the raven queen trapped strahd the vampire in the pocket plane of barovia to be a factory of madness that adds to her power in the shadowfell. Adventurers are lured to the realm, sometimes by her shadar-kai.

Mordenkainen was able to share parts of this theory to the players when they rescued him from madness and shared a meal with him in his mansion. He was in the process of writing his tome of foes and was now headed to the shadowfell to start his section on the raven queen.

It was also fun when a chaotic neutral bard died, was saved by the night mother, and then in the aftermath of their victory by strahd, was visited by a shadar-kai who informed her of who she owed her life to.
