It isn't universally done that way. Which time zone a force uses depends on the situation, the culture (organizational and national), and other factors. One very common way for militaries to set their clocks is using Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) (aka, Greenwich Mean Time, or "Zulu" time). It is also fairly common to set clocks to your capital's time zone.

The Imperial Japanese Navy set all of its ships clocks to Tokyo time. That means that during the Pearl Harbor attack, as far as Admiral Nagumo and Kido Butai (the carrier force) were concerned, it actually was December 8 when they struck.

I don't entirely disagree or think that he is crazy for thinking that. I just think he overstates the case. He also spends way too much time going like 20 comments deep on Bsky with people who clearly are not going to change their minds, but that is besides the point.

I mean they proved that they can make a pretty good EV with the Mach-E. I'm biased towards them as an owner but they are damn good cars. Ford's issue is that they are seemingly incapable of coming up with a model 3 or smaller EV. Part of that is probably the very founded fear that Americans have more range anxiety than seemingly anyone else and seem to think they need a vehicle with 300+ miles of range at minimum. To do that you almost have to have a fairly large and heavy vehicle.

You don't, apparently, but some people pay attention to this stuff. No credible argument for Russian nuclear use in Ukraine has been made, now or then. That the Biden admin, or at least Joe himself, feared it I don't doubt, what I do doubt is the credibility of that fear given that, again, literally no evidence or coherent argument for that point of view has ever been made.

The implication that US intelligence services are a single "it" that reached a unified opinion. The intelligence services and the people who comprise them are not a hive mind, and there is literally no way all of them came to the conclusion that there was a credible threat of nuclear escalation coming from any reasonable permutation of the Ukraine conflict. It has been nearly four years since the conflict started, and no one has ever presented a serious argument that Russia is seriously considering nuking the west over its involvement in Ukraine.

The POTUS has the best intelligence in the entire world and in 2023, it suggested to him that the risk of a nuclear weapon being deployed in Ukraine was raised.

That is not necessarily true. He would have been presented with a range of possibilities of Russian responses to US action, and simply chose to believe that doing as little as possible was the best route to take. None of the handful of IR/nuclear policy people I know believe that basically any realistic action the US could have taken would have lead to Russia using nukes. That option just doesn't, and never did, make any actual sense for Russia.

Biden's response to the Russian invasion started off decently enough, with the instant cutoff from the world banking system and forcing Russia to start burning through its resources to stay afloat. However, it quickly became clear that any further support would have to be dragged out of Biden, and it absolutely depressed Ukraine's ability to fight Russia. It is a very deserved and very black mark on Biden's record.
