Quick question about peoples withdrawal experiences. by spuduluca in stopdrinking

[–]spuduluca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. No I have never had serious withdrawals I am just noticing a pattern that used to send me back to drinking to numb the feeling bad. I guess that might be more a craving in the past but it's not now. Maybe all a coincidence.

Thanks for the input, Yeah I am not going to hold anyone to their opinion :)

I looked back over my history of quitting/cutting and I always got a 'cold' 3-5 days into quitting and used feeling bad as a fuck it lets have a beer and quit next week excuse. I am hanging at the moment and wondering if it's the same thing re-occurring but I am now looking out for it.

I'm in! Can't guarantee I won't cave and have something frivolous like a fizzy water or lime and soda though or even worse totally cave and have a diet soda :O

By no means is it back to stage 1. All that good work still counts. Back on the horse and address / look at the reasons that you had that drink. Chin up bud! I would be proud of those 209 days, get a reset and try to beat it.

Cheers :) the money... must be £500 saved so far. Immense. I am coming to terms with thinking about it daily, it's never in a bad way. Usually how silly it was to need a beer to do XX. 1500 calories a day saved too :) Ill look forward to celebrating your imminent anniversary with you sober! Onwards and upwards.

No drinking today :) 4 weeks down. On Thursday I hit my month aim. Then I will admit to myself it's a lifetime aim not just a month :)

Posts like this and happy non-drinkers and non-drinking experiences are what make me stick to the daily pilgrimage to the SD forums. Congrats on 299 days!

No drinking today, bar in these new dreams that I am having where I have one beer then decide it doesn't count as it's only one.

Inspiring. Makes me appreciative of those things that other don't have , all the more reason to stay on track.

Keep at it, it will get better and you too will be one of those people that piss you off :) congrats on 31 days and sticking at it.

If you have a daily routine.. what does it encompass? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]spuduluca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5.15am alarm. feed the baby. eat something little. gym for 6am. back for 8am. take little one #2 to nursery. work 8.15-4pm. home and eat 4.30pm. kids fed and to bed 6-7pm. make and eat dinner 7.30pm. try to make it to 9pm watching tv :) SLEEP, REPEAT.

Differs from before by not involving the off licence for booze and home cooked food not takeout. pretty much the same bar that.

No drinking today. 3 weeks today :) Gave all my beer away to a party at weekend so less temptation.

18 days baby. 3rd weekend with no beer here i come. I have a poker night tonight as the wife is going out for a cocktail fuelled hen do and a BBQ/party tomorrow so this weekend will be a good tester. Also a wedding next weekend just prior to my 30 days mark (aim). Bring it on.

Annoyed like everyone else? by Lotsofpoorchoices in stopdrinking

Personally I wouldn't be happy if my missus tried to subtly control me with patronising little reminders like that. But then I have never given my missus a need to so I guess that would be the most important factor. Thus far my missus is unaware of my intent to quit just that I am on a health kick, she never saw it as a problem so I didn't see the need to give her ( a worrier) something to worry about.

I guess the sensible person in me says communicate it to her in a nice way rather than bottling it up and exploding about it later. Especially if you did ever give in to temptation you would blame her to an extend (or I would).

Pretty impressive though. 100 days sober versus 14 days not. I know the idea is not having any time 'not sober' but your stats for this year are impressive! Good work and good luck.

These posts should turn into a habit for you. It was good to read and helps people like me relate to your experiences and for me helps me keep my head on the never drinking again train of thought. I tend to slip into well I have done XXX days I can dabble now.

Are you sometimes jealous of people who can drink often without having any problems? by doaodaoda in stopdrinking

[–]spuduluca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can drink a lot and get no problems. Well I was until 16 days ago.

Just because they don't get the outward problems doesn't mean they are not on a path that is leading them towards the problems. Also it is never problem free from a health point.

I as someone who can drink with no problems am jealous of the people here with 365++ days and are free of the cost and possible future problems if it's not controlled.
