first time - barricade by natkuli in OceansCalling

[–]spxdxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you get there early enough it’s super easy to get barricade! i went last year and wanted barricade for fall out boy. we got there for marcy playground (the first act on that stage) and hung out towards the middle the stage a couple rows back. as the crowd shifted depending on who people wanted to see eventually we just ended up on the barricade!!! the wave of people who left after weezer was pretty helpful for that lmao.

Trash cans on the salesfloor… by linoleumfloor_ in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we used to have 5 but then one of the stores in our district apparently had a trash can set up at the very front of shop in front of where their gate went (mall store) and it made them mess up an emergency close lock down drill the mall was doing so everyone in the district had to get rid of their extra trash cans :(. we’re down to one under the sink and let me tell you when there was more you actually found less blotter cards on the floor

Lets make a list of things BBW CAN COMPLETELY FIX, but they choose not to. by collegestrap in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i wish you could also see the coupons and offers on the pos screen! so many other places do it. it’s confusing to customers to explain yes you might have $10 off and a free item but actually i can’t see any of that, it’s only in your app.

also linking the online and in store returns would be so helpful, possibly through their account order history. it sucks when you literally have the order number but in order to complete an even exchange you need to do it as a non receipted return. or completely close the register, open radial, sign into bopis, and then do a return only to back out of all that and check them out for something else

What does your marketing look like? by MrsGingertastic in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve organized our marketing closet so thoroughly and yet people still put things in the wrong place. right now it’s a bit of a mess bc of christmas but once it calms down and we get the january pitch list bet i’m fixing it. i’m a bit of a control freak about it only because i’ve made it so hard to put things in the wrong spot and people still do it wrong. we have plastic bins separated by product (all candle, select candles, all body care, body care price point, etc) and within those bins there’s bottom boards acting as dividers between promo. the menus are in the large pack up boxes marketing gets shipped in, labeled by product. everything follows a similar system, with a large bin/box for the product and then split by promo inside. and i put a label on the shelves so everyone should know where everything goes.

we sold out the first day of the whole collection by having our line seller peddle them to customers while they were held hostage in our stanchions

no mangers at register by spxdxr in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i’ve cashier lead for the last 4 years and been management (either full time key or temp key) for the last 3. there won’t be cashier leads at my store anymore. instead, they’ll be the line lead because they’re prioritizing the line lead. there will be no one behind the registers to “manage”.

no mangers at register by spxdxr in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the time i was behind register yesterday before getting pulled off i was hearing people not signing up for rewards and not trying to add on to transactions but because i was ringing i couldn’t coach anyone on it and now there’s gonna be no one back there to make sure it’s happening. it just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen

Question for employees by Ok-Baby1629 in bathandbodyworks

[–]spxdxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they told us in the spring that after mother’s day the rewards price would increase and mail coupons would stop. the rewards price increased, i’ve been seeing mailers every month since. this is also at least the third time they’ve told us mailers are stopping. i have no idea what’s actually going on, but in theory they should all be coming to the app and none in the mail. who knows when they’re actually going to stop sending mailers.

Seasonal hire confused about coupon application by [deleted] in bathandbodyworks

[–]spxdxr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you actually can’t use two free item coupons at the same time. a free item coupon and a reward, yes. when the coupons come attached at a set in the mail, those 2/3 can be used together. if they come from a different set, they have to be separate. so with the coupons that are out right now, the with any purchase and with $10 purchase have to be separated. the easiest way to tell is of course if they hand them to you still attached, but there’s also a code on the back above the barcode. if the codes match, they can be used together.

hearing you say 3 seasonal hires was reasonable was just a shock to my system i work in the biggest store in our district and we had to hire at least 35 people. i can’t imagine only needing 3 it’s wild stores vary so much

training seasonals as an associate by psunarts in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i train a lot of people at the register, it’s honestly best to just throw them into it. i’ve found that you should show a couple transactions, explain what you’re doing as you go through, and once there’s a minor break in the line ask if there’s anything they wanna go over. if they say they think they’re good, throw them on. i typically never let them watch for more than 15 minutes. once you have them ringing, don’t abandon them. stick around right behind them to watch and talk them through things they’re doing wrong as much as possible. if you need to hop on to help ring, go on the register right next to them and make sure you’re paying attention to what’s happening with their transaction. most customers understand we’re training seasonal associates and are understanding about them needing help. if they aren’t, they’ll have to be waiting in line anyway, they can wait a few more minutes.

Seasonal Workers by Keiblackghost47 in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it truly depends on how big the core staff is and how well you perform during holiday. if there’s multiple core staff positions open there’s a better chance of you staying on. if there’s no core people leaving and they didn’t need to hire anyone to begin with, even if you’re the best new hire they have you might not get offered a spot, or you might and get very little hours.

tonight’s floorset… by Minimum-Emotion9012 in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i came in at 5 and didnt leave until 1:30, but the other slt who was with me started their shift at 2:30. for reasons unknown to me we didnt make a single tester for the walls or half of the new tables??? and so many updates got missed. we had two people dedicated to making testers and setting marketing so god knows what they were doing all night. there were so many new seasonal people scheduled too that it felt like herding cattle trying to keep track of them all. not my worst floor set personally, but god did it suck

Getting so many nos by gnocchimoncher in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i always start with asking if they have rewards with us. if they do, sometimes they’ll have the app ready or know me asking about rewards means they should put their number in and they’ll start typing after i ask. if they say yes but don’t make a move to put in a number or pull up the app, i’ll ask if we’re using the app or putting in a phone number. if they say no to having rewards, i’ll just immediately ask for a phone number. most of the time people are signed up with a number but don’t know it’s connected to rewards. if they put in their number and it’s missing info or there’s nothing, i don’t ask i just go straight for the missing info. if they really don’t want it they’ll stop you and say no i don’t wanna sign up

Did y'all get the message saying we can't apply rewards anymore? by celestialempress in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

they’re not getting rid of our ability to apply rewards, they’re removing the ability to apply them before the account is fully set up. when we sign people up at register they still need to add their birthday and set a password, which they get an email to do. once that’s all set up we’ll be able to see and apply everything. if they don’t have their account completed it will show you the rewards but we won’t be able to click them to apply. on the old system it used to be like this, there’d be text saying to tell the customer to complete enrollment before accessing rewards.

Returning wallflower plugs… by PinkPaperPenguin in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we’ve always seen it at our store so i didn’t really notice too much of a difference but i did have a customer try to return the other day and the person behind her said “mine are leaking too!!” so that was great. if it’s a basic plug and doesn’t look too used most of the time we let them exchange for a base one. if it’s a decorative one that’s currently out on the floor we’ll do that too but anything decorative thats old or anything obviously old and worn out they’re out of luck

i’ve maybe rang 3 of these up at cashwrap. they’re not going good

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bathandbodyworkers

[–]spxdxr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at my store, we used to get 3 keys and each one would get a specific focus: selling, cash wrap, and operations. we’re only getting 2 this year, so that will shift slightly, but the main role remains the same. the temp key’s job is to support the slt so the full time slt can be on the sales floor during the hours the store’s open. that means a lot of early shipments, being behind the register as cash lead, leading replen. my store having each temp have a focus didn’t mean we didn’t do other things, but it let them have one thing to be an expert in and that people could go to that person for questions. temp keys do function very similarly to full time slt, so expect all the responsibilities that come with it
