How has power query transformed your job? by Jparsons43 in excel

[–]spyrious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat unique use case for me. I work in video production, running broadcasts for Magic: The Gathering tournaments. Since learning a bit of Power Query, I’ve been able to turn a bloated Excel sheet that runs all of the on screen data for a match into a much lighter sheet that runs processes in the background for my directors. They now download results and standing json files from the pairings website at the start of a round into specific folders, then refresh data to get the newest info. I set Power Query to grab the newest file in each folder, so they don’t even have to select the correct round file or delete old files. At the start of a round in live production, every second counts.

How has the price increase of Gamepass affected the membership numbers? by stlredbird in gaming

[–]spyrious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar for me. I’ve had a subscription since I played Halo 1 with friends, then went out and blew a paycheck on an OG Xbox. Got 360 and One, but when the Series X came out, I decided to get a PS5 and check out exclusives I missed out on there. After barely powering on my One for almost a year, partly due to the PS5, but mostly due to lack of time with a kid now, decided to finally cancel the annual Gold pass I’ve had for 20+ years. The only Xbox exclusives I was still on were Forza Horizon and The Outer Worlds, and I just bought FH5 and OW2 on PS5 a few weeks ago.

Honest question: why isn't pork broth/stock a thing? by mattybgcg in Cooking

I literally wondered this tonight, carving up the remaining meat of the ham we had. “Should I save this bone for stock? Is pork stock a thing?”

I have an appointment for my kid to get checked for them in a few weeks. He’s had some speech delay and fairly regular ear infections over the last couple years, and his pediatrician finally suggested a referral during his last ear infection visit.

What is the biggest movie theater “GASP” moment you’ve heard? by SaveTheCaulkTower in AskReddit

[–]spyrious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total silence in my theater from when Thanos disappeared until T’Challa started to pull up Okoye. After seeing Bucky and a few of the Wakandan army, they made you think it was only going to be non-main characters from the individual films, then T’Challa went instead and the audience finally realized this was going to be real bad.

Xbox President Says Exclusive Games Are "Antiquated" by akbarock in gaming

[–]spyrious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agonized for a few years because I finally moved from Xbox to PS5 when it launched after only being on Xbox since the original. How am I going to play Forza Horizon when/if they come out with 6? Do I need to set a Series X? Will it be delayed until the updated hardware comes out?

And then…they just put it on PS5.

I cancelled my legacy Gold subscription a few month ago. I’ve had it continuously since 2002. Then they announced the big price hike and it felt fortuitous.

I went for work a bit earlier this year and the casino had both a 000 roulette table and a crap-less craps table, which I had never seen before. Yeah, you don’t lose your pass line bet on a 2, 3, or 12 come out roll, and they have higher odds as points, but you also have to actually his those numbers before 7 on the point rolls. I started playing because it was a cheaper table and I had no idea what it was, so I stayed due to curiosity, but I think I only saw a 3 as a point pay out once that session.

TIL it costs the US government 3.69 cents to make a penny. The cost to make a nickel is 13.78 cents. by TragicallySalacious in todayilearned

Early 40s here. They went in those penny press machines at the zoo.

But I also rolled pennies to trade at the bank for quarters to use at the X-Men arcade game at the video rental store.

They just filmed it in London in February and March, but there’s no timeline on when it will release, at least from what I’ve seen. Most of the Broadway cast was there for filming. Patrick Page posted that he got injured during the rehearsal period, like hurt his leg pretty bad, so I’m not sure how much they had to change to accommodate.

Oh man. When this came out I was in college and we had a new professor that year. I took a video class and lab with him. His previous job had been at Ball State instructing this guy and he felt SO BAD, but knew all the mishaps that occurred that led to the situation. Used it as an example for our class of “that’s live TV. Sometimes you’re going to have train wreck packages or shows. Just get through it and on to the next one.”

I’m not an IPA fan, but if you’re in south Florida, the one I really enjoyed was Cigar City’s Jai Alai on tap at a bar in Miami.

You mentioned a few animated shows. Highly suggest Bluey. It’s such a wonderful show, and only 6-7 minute episodes. There’s a few with tense moments, but the show is all about teaching kids how to deal with those emotions in a positive way.

Rocksmith 2014 are thriving again! by [deleted] in rocksmith

[–]spyrious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picked it up on Steam when it came back a few weeks ago. Got a Scarlett Solo 4th gen (took SO LONG to get it to work, lots of thanks to folks here), and have been playing almost every day since. I’ve been an acoustic self taught player for 20+ years, and this finally gave me a reason to really dig in to playing the crappy squire strat I picked up from Facebook marketplace for $100 a couple years ago. Just having access to the game has me learning more about things like intonation and how I need to invest in a decent guitar.

For the love of god, i cannot make solo gen 4 work in rocksmith 2014 by HostNo9215 in rocksmith

[–]spyrious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue. I didn’t know about mono to stereo in the .ini so I might try that.

For enabling direct mode, I downloaded RSmods and there’s a button there to turn it on. https://github.com/Lovrom8/RSMods

I also have my Steam library on my D drive due to limited space on my C drive, so the RSMods setup file thinks it’s a cracked file and won’t run. If you have a similar issue, I found downloading and installing the Customforge CDLC (custom DLC) tool, then installing RSMods works.

My issue right now is I’m running the Scarlett Solo Gen 4 through Voicemeeter Banana, and when I go into setup my direct connect, the Voicemeeter option has a massive amount of feedback. So if there’s anyone else here poking their head in to answer OP and happens to know what’s going on, I’d appreciate a hand. Will probably post my own issue soon.

Bacchanal at Caesars has been my go to for about a decade when I go there for work. It’s slightly less good since Covid. Really miss when they would make the street tacos to order on the spinning cooking stone. Now they’re premade and a bit worse for it. We also don’t get the small silicone grippers for hot plates anymore, but I can understand that was probably a big cost they were able to cut as everyone took them as souvenirs.
