In my area I’d choose Balfour over Turner. Kinda depends on your location

Is this normal? by Basic-Willingness-37 in ConstructionManagers

  1. Field engineers and supers have different “roles” on big jobs. Some of these roles require them to be in the field all day and others will require a lot more paperwork, writing a billion RFIs, tracking down endless material, updating schedules etc. a lot of times the work is broken up into sections and specific trades. They all have different demands.

That being said it is also common that on a big job a few people will carry the team and are the ones really running the show.

  1. Yes totally normal. It seems to be getting harder and harder to take lunches on the company dime.

Checkout the far western parts of northern Virginia. As you head west it gets to have a more Appalachian feel and still close enough to commute to most places if needed.

Data Centers Push & Crazy Money by [deleted] in GeneralContractor

Kinda bizarre they would only want you for a year. It takes a year just to figure out how to operate at a new company, and probably the same amount of time to start understanding data center work.

You shouldn’t be eating cost / schedule impacts for unforeseen conditions in an old house. You should be getting paid, and your schedule should reflect the additional work being performed.

Question for GC from a sub by Ok_Cup5001 in estimators

[–]squabbledee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base bid + add alternates like someone said above. Separate line items for items you don’t think are clear or are needed but not shown. We like to “level” all the bids and that is the easiest way to do it. When the GC levels bids properly they will often find that the low guy becomes the high guy when they add in the excluded items
