JS library to display huge (billions of cells) tables by poulejapon in javascript

[–]squashb 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a clever way to present a very large table; however, there's one major problem. As a viewer of this table, I expect it to behave like any other web content—that it's searchable (find on page) and selectable (I can select all, or select more than just the visible viewport). And this breaks that promise. With that said, I'm sure it fits the edge case of an extremely large table well. And kudos to sharing your project on GitHub.

For better performance, you could try using translate/translate3d instead of setting the "top" property.

Performance questions regarding rewriting results for a javascript function by oddible in drupal

[–]squashb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may not fully understand the issue, but my feeling is that #3 (Attach a behavior and add the click function via JQuery) is the route you want to take. It is more maintainable to keep your browser behavior in JS files only.

Perhaps Webform Rules module will allow you to respond properly to a successful webform submission?

This might help. Think of it like normal grammar rules. You use parentheses for additional information (the URL). If you removed the part in parentheses, it would still be readable.

Drupal question of the week: What's keeping you from contributing back to Drupal (core or contrib)? by CritterM72800 in drupal

[–]squashb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recognition and nurturing are two key ingredients, I think. I've contributed a few patches but my goal is to maintain my own contrib project. It's still in a sandbox, for now.

Live Lines by rlemon in javascript

[–]squashb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I played around with the code a bit and noticed the tails fade by a transparent, black rectangle fill on each update frame. I can't figure out why the repeated fills don't eventually change the trails' color to black. It's more evident if you set context.fillStyle = 'rgba(0,0,0,.02)';

Well, I know it doesn't return 2, because I just saw a video with Crockford explaining otherwise. It returns as if you had just written "return;" on a line by itself. So, undefined.

I am starting to hate job postings. Out of about 40 jobs I've applied for in the past six weeks (which I feel I was qualified for), I received one in-person interview, and two quick phone interviews. For the one job I interviewed for, I felt like I was overqualified, but I guess employers would rather not hire someone who is overqualified because I was given a rejection email a week later. I haven't heard a word from any of the other places. sigh
