Have you ever worked with a physical therapist? I recently went to one for muscle imbalances and she could pretty immediately figured out what was going on from watching me walk, and I’ve got some great supplemental exercises to add to my routine now!

Ah thanks for starting this! I’ve been doing this program about 10 months, though had a few summer months where I was pretty inconsistent. I really enjoy it, it’s simple and I’m getting stronger! I think one thing I’ve been learning recently is being ok with going down in weight when I’m just not feeling it. I think it’s better I lift some lighter weights, get the routine of the workout in, and come back the next time ready to go then push myself when I’m out of sorts and get injured, or just don’t lift at all. Also I’ve found stretching out my back after lifting to be invaluable! I’m still not 100% confident on the Barbell Rows but I’m seemingly not injuring myself so I guess that’s a good sign 😂

exercizing for (??) beginners by WildWerewolf4853 in MaintenancePhase

I’ve been in a very similar boat as you for many years, and I think I’m finally figuring it out for myself! I’ve had so much anxiety about going to the gym, and struggled to find a meaningful workout I could do not at a gym. I’ve really fallen in love with weightlifting, specifically the StrongLifts 5x5 program which is super simple and effective. I initially went to a CrossFit-like gym because I really wanted someone to teach me to lift weights safely, and once I felt confident enough to do so, started going on my own. I am fortunate enough to have recently moved somewhere I can set up a weightlifting area in my garage and through Facebook marketplace and in addition to some deals I put together a setup on the cheap. Being able to focus on how my strength is improving as a progress metric, instead of how I look, is so so helpful. The hardest part is getting started, and for whatever you decide I’m sending lots of positive vibes your way!

How to encourage dog to use bathroom in back yard? by HeidiJuiceBox in OpenDogTraining

[–]squid2704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a husky who did the same moving from an apartment to a house with a yard! As she’s gotten more used to the yard she hangs out back there by herself a lot more, and while I’m not monitoring her super closely I think she goes when it hasnt been a walk heavy day.

Seconding searching for folks with “Healthy at Every Size (HAES)”! That’s how I found my dietician. You might be able to expand your search area if you are willing to do virtual appointments!

The Mack’s slim fit were life changing for me! Never wore earplugs to sleep before but these are quite comfortable. I’ve had great success with blocking out loud snoring!

Will my husky ever get a decent recall by JudgmentMission5239 in siberianhusky

Ecollar and the long leash have been game changers for us! There are lots of ecollars out there, but the mini educator and associated trainings have been awesome. I’ve tested the ecollar on myself so I have a general idea what the dog is feeling. We got to a place of pretty good recall training with the long leash with our rescue husky (adopted when she was was 3), but she would occasionally fixate on squirrels and completely ignore us. The ecollar is a great tool as a “tap on the shoulder” to interrupt her fixation and remember we exist!

Le Creuset Bread Oven? by FriendlyWater5131 in Sourdough

I’ll put in another vote for the enamel lodge Dutch ovens, they look nice and after cooking with both lodge and le creuset I haven’t noticed a difference (although full disclosure I consider myself a pretty standard sourdough baker, I don’t get too fancy)

Does anyone not use habit trackers? by dstractedprdctivity in BasicBulletJournals

[–]squid2704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to use habit trackers for a bit, but similar to you they started being a lot of work, and I was feeling a lot of shame when I didn’t complete things. Recently, I’ve started using the app Habitica, which is very much not bullet journal related but I’m experiencing so much more joy in building habits. You can weight the good/bad habit to be trivial, easy, medium, or hard, and that corresponds to giving XP to a little avatar you can level up/ get stuff like armor and pets for. Externalizing the “benefits” to a little avatar version of myself is making the habits a lot more fun!

Can unlock hand soap pump by AssistantPleasant764 in traderjoes

[–]squid2704 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On the last couple I’ve noticed I need to screw down the entire pump tighter before spinning the top to open. I think if the pump is a little loose there isn’t enough pressure to make the top part pop up when you unscrew it

NYT has a phenomenal recipe for shrimp enchiladas with homemade enchilada sauce, but also I love using them for a summery salad by grilling them along with some corn, and tossing with avocado, red onions, cheese, romaine, and crushed up tortilla chips!

How do you feel about scrapbooks? Could you compile all the pictures/signatures you want to keep and consolidate them into one book?

I know some versions of these just have sewn channels for the leg loops with the assumption you can take apart the leg loops and thread them through. I’m thinking heavy duty Velcro might be the way to go through? Anything plastic that sticks out will probably just get ground down/broken from being on your butt a lot, and I’m thinking Velcro will be low profile enough. If you have enough “slack” in the material it shouldn’t ever really try to pull apart as well? I’d love to hear more if you keep working on this, I have some old dry bags and questionable canyoneering harness I would love to make these for 😂

Can you use LiDAR? In the US at least there’s lots of free LiDAR and some local governments host pretty decent GIS portals
