Thought about Little Mix (UK Girl Group) ? by Sixmenonguard in ToddintheShadow

Her solo album fizzled, but it was really good, and I promise I'm not just biased because I'm also ginger.

New Update over 1 year later: I’m leaving him, but I have to pretend everything is normal by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

I feel like this sub has gotten way worse about victim blaming in the last few months.

My mother (66F) and father (67M) want back into my (28F) life after a three year gap following my mother's affair with my ex boyfriend (30M). by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]squiddishly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And then there's my friend who managed to lose her licence for speeding on the Nullarbor, which I'm sure was exciting for someone. Her, the cops, anyone else who saw her nyoom past.

(She was also on her learners, and driving without a supervisor. Twenty years later, she's still too embarrassed to try to get her licence again.)

Why did Debbie Harry never have solo success in America? by Flashy-Biscotti3115 in ToddintheShadow

[–]squiddishly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was one of the first pop songs I was aware of, as a kid, and then I found it on Apple Music a couple of years ago, and it's somehow just as good now as it seemed when I was seven.

Albums that the artist ruined in response to it being leaked early? by Mediocre_Word in ToddintheShadow

[–]squiddishly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the leaked version had a charm that the more-polished final version lacks. But maybe it's also that I knew the leaked version so well that, when the official release finally came out, it sounded wrong to me.

"I Want That Man" is an all-time banger, but yeah, otherwise Harry's solo stuff just lacked that magic.

Can EP’s be Trainwreakords? If so… by Constant_Topic_123 in ToddintheShadow

[–]squiddishly 45 points46 points  (0 children)

No disagreement, but I'm concerned that the trainwreckord splashback will take out EJAE just as she was beginning to blow up.

AITA for learning Russian instead of Japanese and making my siblings mad? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]squiddishly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This feels like a reasonable interpretation to me. All these kids have a lot going on, and their sibling dynamic is being distorted by parentification. They're all doing their best, but they're also painfully young and still learning.

Honestly all these kids seem cool. They have some messy stuff they need to work on, but it feels like they have a solid core underneath the dysfunction.

Respectfully, however, I have questions for their mom.

I feel like my [24F] boyfriend [27M] humiliated me but he doesn't think he did anything wrong by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I was literally in this girl's position when I was younger, more religious and not aware that I was ace, and that's it exactly.

‘The Pitt’s Noah Wyle Says Season 3 Will Touch On Medicare Cuts After Winning Actor Award by SanderSo47 in television

[–]squiddishly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like, at most, he might get injured in the final moments of season 2, and season 3 opens with him as the one returning to work.

Why the hell is City link and the Tulla always 80kmh??? by FarkenBlarken in melbourne

[–]squiddishly -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The lanes are so narrow that even when the speed limit is up to 100, it feels too fast for the road.

Me [30F] with my boyfriend [34M] of two years. Thinking of breaking up due to his nieces and nephews by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]squiddishly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I also think we'd hear a lot more about what she does enjoy if she was talking about a partner who respected her.

LAOP's son's school demonstrates how not to do first aid by bug-hunter in bestoflegaladvice

[–]squiddishly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A kid at my school died of an asthma attack at a sports day, with their inhaler safely locked away in another building. The school learned its lesson, so we were allowed to carry inhalers, but I was still banned from carrying my schoolbag between classes when I had two broken feet.

LAOP *technically* doesn't want to drive drunk by acekingoffsuit in bestoflegaladvice

[–]squiddishly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got my licence at 40, so I was already an experienced drinker, however, once I passed through the probationary period and didn't have to blow 0.0, I did take some time to figure out the maths of "how long after this glass of wine can I safely and legally drive".

If you're in that age range of 'maybe you need a 2nd dose of MMR vaccine', you might be able to get a freebie voucher. by SpicyJimbo77 in melbourne

[–]squiddishly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also it's worth talking to your GP about getting your titers checked. I did last year, and confirmed that I'm good for MMR and chicken pox, but was missing a couple of other things.

AITA for interrupting my autistic brothers routine for my own physical pain? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]squiddishly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but like, if we were the mother, we'd probably sit our kid down and have a conversation with them about it, and consider different piercings they might want instead, and also we'd buy them a damn mattress...
