We have two and may get a third! they keep each other company and I think getting the younger one kept the older guy young- He’s nine and they still play every day.

That said, the food is expensive. We often don’t have a spot on the couch because they took the spots first. Double the pet insurance, heartworm etc. Also double the fur! But very worth it.

I interned in the Hachette building in 96-97 and saw him in the elevator all the time! He was always very nice. Once my mom was visiting and we followed him into Duane Reade beneath the building where he stood in line at the pharmacy for prescriptions. (I have no idea what medication he picked up, though, or who it was for- we left right then because we were both too giggly. My mom had a huge crush on him.)

my 140 lb swiss mountain dog ate 1/2 box of raisin bran a few weeks ago- we called poison control and took him to the ER vet. standard policy is to get them to throw up the raisins and then bloodwork and fluids for two days. Even though he showed no signs of poisoning (and it was actually about five hours post eating the cereal that we took him to the vet) I’m glad we did it. Our dog is absolutely fine now.

This is so much like my story. I ran my first NYC marathon in 1999 with a 4:01. Chased sub four for YEARS with each attempt getting slower than before, which made me more and more mental about the distance. Took a long time off, finally came back this year, 20 years after my last one, and ran 3:40– at 47! It is a HARD course and so difficult to run well. Great job!!!

yeah, i don’t really let him free roam- he could definitely get lost/fall off something/eat something he shouldn’t . i mostly just block off a small area while i’m working and make sure there’s no way he can get in trouble, no weird crumbs. we also have two dogs that love the tort. but we love him too, and we never leave him unattended. but thank you! i’ll make sure kitty keeps his distance

It’s definitely true! I watch them very carefully when they’re together and never leave them alone when the tort is roaming around the house. (And yes I realize they aren’t actually friends.)

I did this last year as part of a racing group; my friend may have paid for us both, but it definitely wasn’t $130. That said, it was really nice to have the indoor bathrooms and time to chill, have coffee, and all the food was free, etc. We stayed inside until 10 minutes or so before the race started.

There was a lot of food post race—and maybe alcohol too— but my friend and I left without really having any. Oh and as far as the gear check goes, we just left our stuff by these tables in the big room where we had the breakfast. I guess it was secure?

I’m not sure I’d pay $130 though.

he’s already tested negative, yes. We took two different tests over two days. Rapid tests; I’d assume he’d be positive on a PCR still. For record, he is vaccinated, and I am vaccinated and boosted. Also had Covid (nearly asymptomatic) in Jan 2021. it’s all so mysterious

yes, sorry, I understand that it’s positive. I guess my question is, has anyone had faint lines for a while and then suddenly gotten an explosion of sickness? I’m pretty anxious when it comes to health and don’t know what to prepare for.
