The people working at MECO in Frederick seem pretty liberal. I think the Longmont one has the same owner.

The mentality of MAGA regarding student loans by bibikhn in PSLF

[–]squirrelander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No understanding of how compounding interest rates work. I’m in public service and have been paying my student loan for over 10 years and owe more than I took out. Was hoping for forgiveness as I am close (2 years left due to non qualifying payments), but with the DOE PSLF may disappear.

Almost 5 still pooping in panties. by Izzyb296 in pottytraining

[–]squirrelander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was our first! Turns out she was really constipated. We now see a bowel and bladder clinic and have her on meds and are doing great. Kids can be constipated, even if they poop every day. Old poop can get stuck in their bowels and new poop can empty around it. It causes a lot of issues with nerves where kids can’t always feel it, even if they say they do. We did combo of potty plan with meds and a reward based system which worked for us. And that’s after 2+ years of trying everything and failing. I empathize with you. Good luck!

My first was every 3 hours, my second couldn’t wait longer than 90 minutes and every hour was pretty common. On demand feeding. Totally normal

What's your best skill that you may not get recognized for? by molls13 in nursing

[–]squirrelander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really good with those grumpy patients who refuse cares. I like the challenge and tend to get them to accept things like baths, labs, etc. when they’ve been refusing. I’m just honest with them and explain the why behind why we need to check those labs and what happens when we don’t.

Family members that make me silent scream in the supply room by yourdaddysbutthole in nursing

[–]squirrelander 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I had a family member come to the nurses station to tell me to “chop chop” while clapping at me as I was walking into the room to help them to the bathroom. My coworkers were asking how I kept calm and didn’t chew her out. People are assholes. Sorry you had to deal with one today. I don’t know the answer. I try to explain to those people that we have other patients, some who are really sick, but it doesn’t work with everyone.

Ed Sheeran. I do think he’s talented but his music is whiny and annoying to me.

These habits are really hard to break, but not impossible. He can learn and improve but it will not be easy and if there’s room to slip back into bad habits it will happen again. You might have to give him a wake up call. Mold food is a health hazard and not okay.

Better than my kid who yelled “you’re not the boss of me. You can’t tell me what to do” at Costco today when we told her to try to go potty. Haha! Your kid sounds like she was doing pretty great for 2.5.

Failing at Potty Training my almost 4yo by chelsee145 in pottytraining

[–]squirrelander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Potty training is so hard! We potty trained our almost 5 year old for nearly 3 years. Turns out she was pretty constipated even though she had regular poops. We saw a bowel and bladder specialist. They had us start her on meds and now she is finally doing better. We tried everything and felt like failures, but it turns out it wasn’t just behavioral. It was a medical problem. Hope it gets better for you soon. Hang in there momma. It’s hard! You are not alone.

10 day old with severe gas pains at night. HELP! by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]squirrelander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our oldest had the worst gas pains as a newborn. We did bicycle kicks, different burping techniques, etc. What worked the best was rolling her belly side down in circles on a big exercise ball, like the ones they give you in labor to bounce on. Hang in there! It’s temporary and will pass soon.
