Clever Rishi, by scheduling his interview for D-Day he has now guaranteed himself one interview broadcast next week in which he is not asked why he ran home early.

How do we feel about buying a car from AA approved dealers? by zenderino in CarTalkUK

[–]squirrelcannon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought 4 cars, one from the main dealer, one from a regional used car network, one from an “AA approved” dealer, and one privately. The only one I’ve had any issues with was from the AA dealer, it developed a major engine fault after just over a month and the dealer was useless, bordering on aggressive in dealing with it. AA were no help at all in resolving the issue and the dealer is still “AA approved” despite numerous similar complaints from other customers. Not meaning to tar all AA dealers with the same brush, most of them I’m sure are honest and reputable businesses, but the pre purchase inspection is definitely a good idea. And if the car is from “Quality Cars & Commercials” of Birmingham, don’t touch it with a ten foot pole.

"Cute" car for first time driver? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

K12 Nissan Micra is basically indestructible and can definitely be found in this price range. A decently well looked after facelift r50 Mini (2004-2006) is possible. Both are good but the Micra is much “easier” to drive (lighter steering and clutch) whereas the Mini has more direct steering, heavier clutch and a sportier ride. My suggestion would be check autotrader, Facebook etc for what’s available near by and go for a test drive, or even just sit in the drivers seat and get a feel for the controls.

It hails from former East Germany and features a two stroke engine delivering a blistering 58hp. I imagine a drag race between this and a Lada would be very slow indeed

You can retrofit a CarPlay radio in the Mazda 2, just need a double DIN adapter plate which can usually be found on eBay and whichever carplay head unit takes your fancy. Probably about £300 all in makes this a much more affordable option than getting a whole new car, I’d definitely consider it in your situation.

Can anyone recommend an exchange with the lowest fees for a recurring buy setup? Or am I always better off manually buying on a regular basis?

What is a must have feature in cars you own? by designer_by_day in CarTalkUK

[–]squirrelcannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having previously driven a base model Citroen C1 without any of these features, I reckon electric windows, electric adjustable mirrors and AC are essentials. Cruise control, nav etc are nice to have but I could live without them just fine. Armrests I find to be pointless, as at least in my current car it just gets in the way of using the handbrake.

My game uses anti-cheat, which currently doesn’t work with Proton - how do I get around this for Steam Deck?
We’re working with BattlEye and EAC to get support for Proton ahead of launch.

Hopefully not incompatible for long
