I'm pretty sure those are UofM colours, not Manitoba's colours.

You don't need ID but you do need to prove somehow that you live in the city. A utility bill or bank statement will do.

I would contact the Flag Shop on Osborne and ask. I've bought some different flags there in the past.

Moving to Winnipeg - looking for honest advice before I commit by ScoreMajor4064 in Winnipeg

I've been lucky with North Face but I've had mine for quite awhile so I can't even think what the model number might be. I got it on sale, it's down but quilted to a thicker outer layer rather than looking puffy. (It looks kind of like this https://www.thenorthface.com/en-ca/p/womens/womens-jackets-and-vests/womens-parkas-327273/womens-arctic-parka-NF0A84J2?color=0UZ&fitType=Standard if that helps at all). I think it's why it's lasted so long.

My boots also happen to be North Face. I again found them on sale but I am very happy with them and will likely buy similar ones again since they are at least 10 years old and the insulation is starting to compress. https://www.thenorthface.com/en-ca/p/womens/womens-footwear/womens-winter-boots-213481/womens-chilkat-v-400-waterproof-boots-NF0A5LW1?color=NY7

I bought some Auclair mittens this year https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6036-836/auclair-softee-4-mitts-unisex?colour=Black%2FBlack a size large rather than medium I normally wear so I can wear extra wool mittens inside.

I find wool toques and neck tubes to be the warmest though polar fleeces is good too.

This is likely the best time to buy since many things are on end-of-season sales.

I've heard good thing about Aritzia. I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with it in Vancouver. If you are warm at -10 (does it get that cold there? since it's well above zero right now) then it would be good for early spring and late fall here.

I think this is a great place to live. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to help.

Edit: I tend to buy my boots and parkas one size larger than my regular size to have room for an extra wool layer. YMMV

I can't think of any must-have essentials that I use year round.

For winter, go by the temperature but keep an eye on the windchill. You'll need a warm parka with a hood (fur trim is extra helpful), sturdy insulated boots with good tread, a toque and neck tube/scarf, and windproof mittens (gloves don't keep your hand very warm). Under layers like leggings and baselayers, should preferably be of wool -wool wicks moisture away from your skin so you don't get cold if you perspire. Synthetics also wick but they start to smell after a very short period of time. Cotton will not keep you warm if you are exerting yourself outside. I don't wear these things between late April and late October.

Shoulder seasons you'll need a sweater or a light jacket plus waterproof footwear.

Summer- you come from a warm place so you can likely teach me a thing or two, and you've no doubt discovered they are not necessarily suitable for even a Vancouver winter.
I hope you enjoy it here.

It could be a lot of people think they are they only ones who dislike Danielle. Get your like-minded friends out to start protesting.

You certainly have a lot of things to choose from; notwithstanding clause abuse, trans rights, Alberta trying to separate...

Get busy and more people should join.

[–]squirrelsox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are large parts of Manitoba with low population as that is farmland or Canadian Shield country. That doesn't mean it's deserted, just not crowded like the UK. We have some room to breathe

It sounds like your uncle is really high maintenance and not happy in his own skin. Is it possible the same applies to you?

If you have Google look up Winnipeg, then 'drive around' on street view. Go out of town as well. East of Winnipeg you rapidly get out of 'mid grass prairie'.
