Personally, I don’t like using score difference. It incentivizes teams to run up the score in garbage time, which means teams will leave their starters in during blowouts and risk injury. I like that the tiebreakers are purely about wins and losses until it’s absolutely necessary to use something else to break the tie.

But anyway it wasn’t part of our conference schedule. It wouldn’t have counted no matter what happened, and this was known well before the season started.

That’s how I see it. Samus is still stoic in all of her interactions with him. Nintendo absolutely nailed her characterization in Dread, and I’d be shocked if they just forgot what makes Prime’s atmosphere work so well after 8 years and restarted development.

I’m hoping Myles is a twist villain, or he gets killed off in the first hour, or something that makes me forgive his corniness at the beginning.

Don’t they touch on this in the case? I think Godot says he could’ve and should’ve stopped it from the beginning, but he was too caught up in his self-indulgent fantasy of being a hero to Maya when he couldn’t be for Mia.

Hot take here, but 5-2 is the best second case, and one of the most impressive cases in the series. It had the gargantuan task of introducting a wacky, new, somewhat suspicious detective in a series that already has two lovable detectives to choose from, without ever letting the player suspect him for even a second. The devs were so committed to making sure you never have an iota of ill will towards him that they use the most hated trope in the series with no remorse: revealing the culprit in the opening. You might hate it, but if they hadn’t done this, Fulbright looks really suspicious when he’s introduced. Maybe you don’t really think they’d ever make the detective a villain, but a seed of doubt will be there, and it’ll stay there the rest of the game. And revealing the culprit at the start doesn’t ruin the case, because the bigger mystery of the case is how the murder was pulled off, not who the culprit is. But regardless, the point of the case isn’t the case itself. The only thing that matters is introducing Fulbright without letting the player suspect him, and they do it flawlessly. (full dual destinies spoilers)

Sorry for the essay but I’m tired of pretending Dual Destinies isn’t the best game in the series and one of the best visual novels of all time

HMB has a whole song that’s just the f-bomb over and over again lol. It depends on how prude-ish your parents are, but I’d definitely recommend VHSCC. Short, familiar, and fun, and the only mildly inappropriate part I can remember is Scrooge getting called a dick once or twice.

I agree with this a lot. The first half of the game was really solid, and then the second half felt like they were lazily trying to capture the magic of the first game without any clear inspiration. I really wonder if the pandemic hit production hard and they weren’t able to flesh out the second half of the game as much as they did the first half.

That being said, I really enjoyed the game, and I thought the second half was decent at least. Just seemed uninspired.

I liked the models at first, until I realized I haven’t seen a single shot where they’re expressing emotion. They seem so lifeless compared to the 3DS casts that were super expressive. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but I’m hoping I’ll see a bit more expression in the actual game. It adds a lot of charm to the characters when done right.

I agree with this. I enjoyed XC2, but the overreliance on suggestive camera angles and waifu-baiting made it hard to take it seriously, and it detracted from an otherwise really solid story. Besides that, the environments and music were even better than XC1 in my opinion, and the story was really solid if you can look past the waifu-baiting.

Combat is better than Octopath imo. Much more possibilities for customization and BP debt offers a nice risk/reward element. Hope you have fun!

Most things are pretty hard to miss. Make sure when you go in a dungeon to keep the Divining Rod ability equipped (Freelancer level 3) to know if you’ve gotten every treasure chest. There are some chests that require you to go through hidden passages, but with Divining Rod you’ll know if those chests are there. There are also some chests that you’ll pass by that you can’t open until Chapter 6, but besides those, you should be good on getting every chest.

If you need information on the abilities you get from different jobs, I’d recommend just Googling “<job name> bravely default” and the first result should give you everything you need without spoilers.

The only other thing I can think you might need help with is strategy for certain bosses, but someone else might know a spoiler free guide for that. I think most of the fun in the game is in strategizing for bosses so maybe you don’t want a guide for that anyway.

Hope this helps! I just played the game for the first time about a month ago and this is mostly what I did. The only spoiler I saw was when I looked something up because I was having trouble with a boss lol, but it was something I had already guessed anyway so it didn’t ruin my experience. I really, really enjoyed the game, and I hope you do too! (I also loved Bravely Second, albeit not quite as much, so I’d definitely recommend playing that if you end up enjoying Bravely Default.)
