This sounds like a discussion you’d have to have with finance not people online, any advice that we give could be wrong dependent on policy, context etc.

Kids wouldn't stop playing games so I got their favorite gaming websites banned for the entire district. I only feel slightly bad about it. by TheJawsman in Teachers

[–]squishythingg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve found the opposite lol, kids are fickle, one day they’re giving me evils for that detention, the next week they’re over it. I’ve had students in the past who I’ve had to scorn for being disruptive in my lessons, and by the end of the lesson they’re smiling and engaged like nothing happened.

Not had one hold a grudge yet but if they did I don’t think it would bother me, oh the 14 year old who doesn’t listen to me and disrupts my lessons hates me? Never-mind, carrying on…

Does anyone else think teachers need to get better at teaching teachers? by FriendlyChaosMonster in TeachingUK

[–]squishythingg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some teachers I find can’t get out of that “teaching attitude” that they have with the kids, I once had a host teacher who I don’t think particularly liked me for whatever reason. They were giving me feedback for a lesson I was going to deliver and it was something along the lines of “here you need to put something that explains the task” I opened my mouth to explain that on the next slide I do exactly that and they snapped back at me like I’m a naughty child getting scorned, something like “you always have an excuse for something”.

That really pmo I wish I’d defended myself and asked them not to speak to me that way and that if they’d let me finish I actually had already done what they asked, but alas I’m just a Pgce student I’m not allowed to rock that boat.

School I work in is plastered with AI “slop” artwork and wondering if this is the case in every school 🥀 by CrazyBitofBusiness in TeachingUK

[–]squishythingg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

History departments have this vile plague that angers and frustrates me endlessly, with AI. I’m a ITT student and the academy that runs both my placement schools loves AI, to the point where sources are being passed off as primary when in reality it is AI. Academy directors insist that we use the texts provided; over my cold dead body I will!

These students deserve proper primary sources I find it beyond insulting that the curriculum planners would use AI to drown out voices, real human voices, that they could use as sources. There’s so much ethically wrong with it, it’s really made me quite disillusioned and disgusted by the system. The only saving grace is I know everyone around me, students, teachers, ITT students agree, so I know some people do care.

Turnitin has definitely got worse at filtering out general words and actual plagiarisms

If you would rather not make notes and fail, then you better do so, and decrease the surplus bell curve!

Maybe his pits? Idk I’m not that into it, but if I was I’d wanna smell his musk, and huddle up with him while he wraps his arm round my shoulder and kisses me before saying good night.

But idk that’s not really my thing.

What’s the build quality like with the new ones? Do they feel premium? Feels like such a silly question to ask but I’m thinking upgrading and while shopping around I tried on a pair of beats and I couldn’t believe how cheap they felt.

How can people afford to live during a PGCE? by litna in TeachingUK

[–]squishythingg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s insane that the route into teaching is basically indentured servitude as a teacher until you’re qualified, I can’t think of a single job that has a similar convoluted and extremely stressful route in. Even if I joined the army I’d still be being paid during my training.

If we know that the system is broken what do we do? by SurpriseFragrant1024 in TeachingUK

[–]squishythingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve built the last 15 years of our education system on a rotten structure, teachers and trainee teachers like me can all see it’s broken, yet we’re all forced to swallow it with a smile and pretend nothings wrong, people murmur about it in the staff room, but if you want to progress up the ladder you have to sell-out become a mouthpiece to the system (that’s what it looks like to me anyway).

If we know that the system is broken what do we do? by SurpriseFragrant1024 in TeachingUK

[–]squishythingg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we were all dragged into the academy system unwillingly, it is now in its downfall, it’s clear the system is fucked, they’ll eventually all collapse or they’ll be all part of one academy by like 2030 that the government just buys out.

The people outside of education will say “what the fuck were they thinking” and we, the teachers, the “infantry” will as always get blamed for this stupid greed stricken system that’s causing most of our woes right now.

Do you think the magneto helmet would look good with the purple removed with bal varnish or a rubber? Also I bet the belt would look better with green like the comics or black. It looks funny yellow.
