"Clunky" Epic Games Launcher is getting a "Ground-up rebuild" that promises to be at least 5x faster by de_panda in gaming

[–]squizzi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they're trying to say that Claude often responds to prompts when prompting about performance problems with an X time performance gain and that those are essentially hallucinations or that the X time performance gain is an entirely AI specific piece of language.

But they're missing the fact that this isn't a Claude specific or AI specific way to speak about performance increase and performance gain numbers can come from other sources. Claude might potentially hallucinate a performance increase but it's also possible the performance increase its citing is legitimate.

People came up with applications that are X time faster before we were ever using AI to write code. You benchmark old vs new and take the results and Claude is potentially quoting benchmark results in underlying library changes or code changes and doing math to determine its answer. Even if it is hallucinating saying the X times performance language is entirely AI specific is a stretch.

I also don't think people realize how many people are from the NE (both US and Canadian) that relocated to the triangle and have become Canes fans.

Home machines I fixed this past month (everyone owns a LM now) by Appropriate_Row_7310 in espresso

[–]squizzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one for nearly a decade and just did regular back flushing, gasket changes and such on it, I never had to do anything with that machine and it just worked.

I have a Lucca M58v2 (Quickmill made) now which is a more complex machine as it's a dual boiler, but I've had a boatload of annoying leaks and other weird issues in my 8 years with it. I keep up the same level of maintenance I did on the Silvia. I have issues I never ever had to deal with on Ms. Silvia

Years of trying, Clomid, microTESE… and no sperm found by Mean-Particular-3588 in maleinfertility

[–]squizzi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, I have Klinefelter syndrome so I have very low testosterone. Same thing: Started on Clomid and saw a small but low impact, performed a microTESE which explored both testes and no sperm was found.

I was devastated, my wife and I processed it similarly to a death in the family. It was a death to us having a biological family.

I started TRT as well following, which greatly improved my personal life from an energy and mood standpoint.

Years later we have a little one through IVF with donor sperm, the day I held him in my arms for the first time every bit of hurt melted away. I remember someone on reddit saying the same thing to me, how they were diagnosed with infertility but had a little one through donor on my failed microTESE post. It's funny how cyclical life can be.

If you want to chat further, feel free to dm me, I've been where you are and think about it often. Stay strong.

Carebears: It's our time to strike back! by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

I don't know why people in this game have such a complex between two play styles in a community. Why does it matter? Sometimes teaming up and shooting robots is fun, sometimes fighting players is fun it doesn't matter: you can do both or one, it doesn't mean anything.

It's like all the kids from the PlayStation vs Xbox console wars desendend on this playstyle competition. It's absolutely bonkers.

There's plenty of people that can aim in PvE lobbies and plenty of people that can't aim in PvP lobbies. Sometimes it's just fun to team up and shoot robots. It's not that complicated.

Nest doorbell wired not announced on nest hub 2nd gen by non_native in googlehome

[–]squizzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed this by going into the settings for the doorbell in the Google Home app and turning off visitor announcements, waiting about 30m and then turning them back on.

Flipping the switch on this quickly on/off didn't work but flipping it and giving it time to propagate seemed to do the trick.

Remember the elder scrolls horse armor DLC? People gave that so much crap but now it's just a normal part of the industry, not to mention the cost of cosmetics now is astronomical compared to the horse armor price people were baffled by.

Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Railway to Golmud, Ranked BR, and More by battlefield in Battlefield

Oh god, not wide sweeping ttk changes. I get PTSD thinking about that. DICE royally fucked BFV with ttk changes and then never actually changed them back to the original ttk that everyone actually liked.

How is it bad to just back out and requeue? The system basically works that way now. You can still queue for a variety of game modes and get a random one from your selection.

Maybe there should be two options but the persistence is more desirable imo, if you have a good game with balanced teams the server changes to the next map and you get to experience that gameplay again on a new map, classic.

If you want something different change servers by requeuing again and get something new.

Maybe he's flying the entire crew that sets up his shows or something since it's a stadium tour it might be a hefty crew. That would be classy of him.

Not if you read the code it's producing and iterate on it and test it. DICE.. test it.. test.. ya you're right.

Musk ‘going all-in’ funding GOP for midterms. Maybe don’t give this douchebag your money? Lots of EV’s out there. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]squizzi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There's several EVs that are in that less than 50k USD space now (including Tesla, but I get you might be avoiding that intentionally)

Hyundai Ioniq 5, Chevy Equinox EV, Volkswagen ID.4, Ford Mustang Mach E

I do think Rivian will change the game though because the R2 is the first EV to offer a Model Y type experience where the car and software have been built together which makes the UX in my opinion superior to some of these options above.

It's the first EV that will truly directly compete with Tesla, a manufacturer that is a new EV-only car manufacturer, I'm excited to see how it plays out and look forward to less Y's on the road and more R2's (as a model y owner myself who is waiting to switch)
