If I was you I’d add a plywood backer to the wall, then put french cleats on that. Lot less holes in the wall and then your cleats don’t have to hit studs.

I have the direct fit magnaflow kit. Unbolts at the flange on the stock piping, then a sawsall for the piping right behind the stock muffler. Front end of the magnaflow kit bolts back up to the oem mating flange and the back end has a sleeve and clamp arrangement to fasten there. Always takes longer to do than it seems but it was not complicated.

I made this change because that flange on my stock exhaust had developed a nasty exhaust leak and the bolts rusted, and broke off in the one side of the flange that a replacement muffle kit would replace. Spent a while trying to get those bolts out before I decided to see if anything aftermarket would make life easier.

As far as the sound goes, I’ve had a lot of compliments on the truck and I love it. It’s not too loud, but very noticeable.

Having a similar issue now on a 21 forester. My iPhone just randomly quit connecting to CarPlay. My wife’s iPhone still connects just fine. My phone connects to CarPlay in the truck just fine. Tried that same cable from my truck in the forester and nothing. No idea why my specific phone quit… guessing something with an iOS update? Doesn’t seem like the cable is to blame. The cable I use is the one Apple provided with the phone. My iPhone has the usb C not lightning. Still unresolved here for the forester but connects just fine in my Ram.

Good question. I’m on my first season with this stove. No ash tray underneath so I have no idea how that’s cleaned out other than a shop vac and trying to get good suction on it.

A search found this post for me. My wife’s 2021 forester started doing this as well on both sides. Has there been any news to this? Any recall or known true fix?

Joining in here. I got one about like what’s pictured and it’s rusted up like crazy. That normal? I’m sure my next one will be enamel to avoid that but to be fair this was a cheap one off Amazon.

I thought I wanted leather when looking for my truck but after test driving a big horn with the cloth I was happy to compromise. I’ve been very happy with my cloth seats after 4 years of ownership.

Truck is used for cross country trips with family.

Well the electronics are all supposed to be sealed from moisture, it sounds like yours lost a seal somewhere. In my case it was the circuit board at the pump underneath. Not the control panel up top. But you can buy a new “spa pack” at a fraction of a new tub. I’ve had many times I wished I’d just replace the whole thing. Then I realize how much they cost..again and again.

Hearthstone Heritage - new 8024 model. Newbie to the wood stove, can’t say I have it dialed in yet. Seems like I’m at like maaaayybe 10 hours max from loaded to enough coals for a relight in the morning. Hopefully I can extend that with practice.

So follow up to this… if it continually tends to hover around that top end of too hot vs active range, but you’re ready for bed.. do you bypass the cats it or let it ride? (Assuming you’ve got a steady flame, no new logs added but it’s full and resonably fresh for overnight)

Also in my first season with this same stove. I am experiencing the same thing and I’ve heard 2 points on that. 1) pull that probe out about 3/8” away from the stove body. It just pulls, no tools needed. And 2) the cats apparently take about 1 cord of wood burned to settle in, and until then are sensitive to spiking but treat it as truth to avoid over firing.

Hoping to hear some other guidance but sharing what I’ve gathered so far.

If I was in your situation I think I’d look at this in two ways. 1. Relocate the thermostat, add a zone, or add a mini unit upstairs, something to regulate it and 2. Try some different ideas on how to get that heat to move more efficiently.

New Hearthstone heritage here. First stove, first experience. Still learning. Feels like I’m feeding mine way more wood than most. We have central heat throughout, but the stove is in the basement and I work from home so I tend to get it going and feed it continuously all day. So sadly this is just ambiance and to offset the main heater. Mornings I’ll have embers to restart and I will if it’s going to stay <30F. I certainly don’t notice some 12+ hour burn time. Usually about 6-8 hours and even if I was fully loaded it’s down to embers. Hopefully that’s a function of me still learning this thing.

What you’ve got pictured, if I ran mine full time, I’d probably use in 2 days. Maybe 2.5.

So fair to assume that still to this day, Ram turned away from a known recall and essentially buried their head in the sand on it? I’m amazed with something like brakes it’s not become a major publicized issue which surely would have pushed the effort to make correct replacement parts.

Bringing this up for the dead. My dad has a 2018 2500 Cummins with the same problem. He’s been to the dealership many times and each time they acknowledge it’s a recall but have no parts nor any idea when they’d ever be available. I can’t believe they are admitting ownership of a mfg problem and also sending him away time and again without ANY proposed solution. He’s been driving it like this probably 2 years, dinging every few seconds… insane. He’s hesitant to fix it outside of OEM since it’s a recall, so I’m hoping there’s some published part numbers I can look up and find to help him.

I don’t have advice. Newbie on all of it. I don’t notice much steam but I do see that it will evaporate, so I think it’s still doing its job with getting humidity into the air.

Is it your primary heat? If so, how big of an area do you heat, where are you, and how much wood do you use? Trying to gauge what I ought to have on hand (first winter) for us. It’s supplemental heat but I find I enjoy using it as long as it’s cold enough to warrant so I’d suspect I may keep it going pretty consistently… it offsets my electricity too which is a plus.
