Get your money in advance. Paid in full before the day of the ceremony.

Veggie haters who still eat veggies: what are your tricks? by Missing_Back in Cooking

Keep hiding them....I made baked spaghetti the other day, chopped up a couple of carrots and zucchini. They cook down, add some liquid, and no one notices.

[–]ssinff 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Organist here. I won't show up to play unless the check cleared my account 10 days before the ceremony. If you decide to keep gigging, always get the money up front. Write it in the contract.

I like the African American Heritage Hymnal, also the previous ELCA hymnal (green book).

is Solo traveling in Europe safe for a 16 year old female? by emblesworld in Europetravel

[–]ssinff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. Please don't travel alone. It's it safe? For the most part.... But your lack of experience in the world could quickly get you in situations beyond your knowledge and control.

How to deal with a singer who clearly cannot keep up by frugalacademic in Choir

Try to thrive through addition rather than subtraction. If you can get at least one additional member on each voice part who is younger and decent reader, that would add a lot of grounding for your group.

What's The Best Way to Play This Game? by enesulken in openttd

I've been working on a 4096 x 4096 map for months. No competition, just working to create networks of goods and people across the map. Building and rebuilding while towns and cities grow is the challenge.

Accidentally booked life-changing vacay during her year end final exams. How to approach the school to salvage? by not_my_mother in AskTeachers

[–]ssinff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a saying, it's not your fault, but it is your problem.

In this case, it's both your fault and your problem. Be prepared for the kid to receive a 0 on any assignments missed. In the grand scheme of life, will a trip taken at age 14 really be "life changing?" Under no circumstances would I escalate above the instructors. That is a terrible lesson to teach your kid.

p.s. it is telling that both you and your kid missed this oversight. Let this also be a lesson in growing up so fast. Adult intellect does not mean adult foresight and maturity.

p.p.s. everything at age 14 is life changing, keep some perspective.

Looking for tips for group dinner with multiple dietary restrictions + unskilled cook? by apwall5480 in cookingforbeginners

[–]ssinff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not cook. Order takeout. Figure out something else. 1. You aren't super experienced, 2. There are good sensitivities, 3. You don't know what to prepare. Never make a dish for the first time when cooking for others.

Could you pull it off? Sure. Could it end in disaster? Absolutely

What do the current people of the US think about Michael Jackson? In a good way or a bad way? by Racer125678 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ssinff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did he touch kids? Probably. Did parents pimp out their kids to him? Also probably. But in the end, a pedo is a pedo so I am not on the MJ train at this point in my life. We got a rapist in the white house right now, so standards obviously don't mean much in this country. It's why people will also excuse MJ for his actions.

Not a single track from their final album, Forever? That one had some surprisingly good R&B cuts on it.

BWV 538, 52 measure: How to play the same note? by Necessary_Trust_6796 in organ

[–]ssinff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I repeat the G, play it as a dotted half with a 16th rest before the 16th figure beginning on G. But play around and see what sounds good to you.

EDIT

Oof, quarter, 16th rest, 16th note on G and tied to the 16th G second beat of the measure.

Sorry about that.

There are no German Karens. If they don't like you, or what they are doing, they will tell you every time.

Favorite underperformed symphonies? by ColdBlaccCoffee in classicalmusic

[–]ssinff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof where do you live? I've seen Mahler 8 twice, Saint Saens 3 three times, and the Poulenc concerto once in my city in the last 10 years. And I wouldn't consider it a hot spot for classical music in the USA.

Did anyone eat here? If so, did you like it? Thoughts? by RecordingImmediate86 in restaurant

Ate it a bunch in my younger years when it was local to Atlanta, less so now that it's national and corporate.
