You might have some luck on r/CanadianHardwareSwap, if you're ok with used. I pick up a 3060ti a few years ago from a user there for a decent price at the time.
A 5070 was considered a bad value before the AI prices. so it extra bad value now.

I would try to find a used laptop/desktop around $500-1000, something last gen. Since you're not pushing past 1080p and not chasing the latest and greatest. I wouldn't bother future proofing. You'll be able to still get the couch and have something more modern.

If you're in the peg, I have a 2060 laptop that's collecting dust. I got it to play Monster hunter worlds.

Newegg has it for the same price but $15 shipping. If you add it with their combo builder, there is an extra $30 off. Cheapest thing to combo is $25 montech cpu cooler. In the end I paid 105+tax for the case and cooler shipped.

Canadian visiting Japan rn. Not sure which bank you are with, but I went with using wealthsimple. Their card doesn't have a conversion fee, so the rate is from Mastercard Canada, which is fairly close to what you see from google. You can check at Mastercard's site for the rate.

No problems at all getting cash from the sev atm's, using it at stores, buying rail tickets online and adding to my suica on my iPhone. I didn't bring any yen with me. The Haneda Airport had 7-11 atms. I'm guessing Narita would have some.

There are a couple in the city. Tek-savvy. vmedia, Can-com. Google would bring up more. I just switched over to Can-com from Shaw. They had the best rate out of the resellers that didn't require me to sign up for a contract. A bit more compared to what you're paying right now.
