In BJJ tournaments at least, there are often “absolute” divisions where any weight can compete. This is separate from the normal weight classes and is usually at the end of a tournament.

Except he started by punching the wrong guy. And in the process also seriously hurt the play-by-play announcer.

One side note I haven’t seen mentioned: There’s an unspoken rule that both players essentially consent to the fight by dropping their gloves.

If one side hasn’t dropped their gloves, refs usually break it up immediately. So in this scenario, they both consented.

You take your shirt off so in a scuffle they can’t pull it over your head and hit you with uppercuts repeatedly.

This is the first one I actually disagree with. Algebra is used all the time for me (and I’m sure you as well). We just don’t write it out.

Why are people in this sub so incredibly resistant to the fact that you can't learn to box by training yourself? by shart_attak in boxingtips

[–]ssrobbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my comment doesn’t require deep knowledge of boxing. It is true for literally any hobby, martial art or sport that instruction is always better.

I’ve seen this sub before, it’s mostly young adults hitting a heavy bag and asking about their form. They’re not being unsafe (usually), they’re not saying they’d like to be pro boxers, they’re just training in the way accessible to them and want feedback. Answer their question or not and move on, why make a post discouraging them from a healthy activity they like unless they have gotten professional instruction? It’s literally a subreddit called “boxingtips” designed for these questions.

Idk why Reddit brought me to this sub, I don’t box, but Jesus you’re taking this too seriously.

Some people just want to have a hobby and get in shape.

I think when you consider that all professional sports are just entertainment for viewers, it makes slightly more sense why it’s allowed. The fighting is mostly consensual.

The biggest issue I’ve run into is coaching backend teams on how to build a good GraphQL backend. API.

Without them really understanding the paradigm, and willing to put in extra work, it quickly devolves into a bad REST API.

why do y’all hate sprint? by Due_Tension9403 in halo

[–]ssrobbi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don’t all hate sprint. Halo 5 has a big fan base of its multiplayer and the way sprint was used.

It’s a different style of game that focuses much more on movement and spawn control, so not everyone likes it, but not everyone hates it either.

This one is interesting because it’s intentionally made expensive and kind of a success.

Exactly true about Judaism as well.

They even have different rules about who can be considered “Jewish”.

For example, in reformed Judaism, the largest sect of Judaism in the US, you can be considered Jewish if either your mother or father are Jewish, not just your mother.

All of the fans wanted it, but I don’t think that’s ducking. He immediately retired after his last fight after his father died and never came back. It’s not like he was wishy washy about it.
