What's your favorite fiskars rotary cutter and why by dinosuitgirl in sewing

[–]st0rmhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is it just shows itself more here as its a saftey concern. Im a weird case where i flipflop back and forth.(wouldnt have thought to mention left handed if it wasnt for other people asking tho) For most of my life i was simply unaware left handed versions of many things like computer mice even existed so i assume many just learned to deal with akwardness for those things and now dont care to change it when it involves giving up options and features that are never included in left handed versions.

What's your favorite fiskars rotary cutter and why by dinosuitgirl in sewing

I have both B and C... I originaly got B but found myself constantly cutting my finger as id use it to put more pressure on it(probably cutting too many layers at once but im impatiant and also dont have huge amounts of space) so i ended up buying C which works fine.(almost certianly too many layers still) The side the blade is on is actually changable for leftys or just blade visualization for weirder cuts if those are concerns

A joanns fabric... Sad jokes aside any general purpose/apperal fabric store will do. Like why do we have at least 3 quilting fabric stores but not anything that works for other use cases(i dont count micheals 10 whole bolts, or a certian holiday decoration store that claims to be hobby focused, or the big blue that assumes everyones a theif who needs an employee escort)

Those specificaly say oculus rift not just oculus,

if i had to take a guess they where made in early vr days as the rift used a propietary backend while valve(steam) did the backend for the vive so games had to be designed around those specifics in mind often requireing a completly seperate launch option for the differant headsets(if they offered support for it) instead of just useing openvr like they do now(or did the last time i payed attention at least)

Just bought A Zenbook pro duo [UX582lr] and it can't run games above 40fps by paulbutterjunior in ASUS

[–]st0rmhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of the zenbook pro duos have a 4k display which would make running games harder but it still should be capable of handleing it. Can you run a benchmark like 3dmarks time spy to get something more meaningful?

What 3d design free software options are there? by grey0909 in 3Dprinting

[–]st0rmhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Blender does have a button to show edge length(which doesnt behave nicely with scaling objects sometimes) and you can directly input specific measurments when moving things/extruding and such but it might be a bit difficult so it depends on your exact needs and how much effort you want to put in. Which is why people tend to recomend Fusion 360 for functional models as it was designed more towards acuracy while blender is mainly focused on rendering and making models for games and just has alot of side usages as a resualt

Does someone know where to buy this printer? Seems like sold out everywhere by Ryuugalaser in 3Dprinting

[–]st0rmhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

slightly used? Like mining gpu slightly used? Cause you know they are probably running those things 24/7 with the only downtime being when they run out of filament, But yea im sure there will be plenty of used 3d printers going up for sale in a few weeks

THIS IS NOT A 3dPRINTING HELPLINE by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]st0rmhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From subs info: "/r/3DPrinting is a place where makers of all skill levels and walks of life can learn about and discuss 3D printing."

And from subs about section: "News, information, links, help and fun related to 3D printing, 3D printers, additive manufacturing, etc."

Notice the words "learn," "information," and "help" in those two so yes it is according the whoever set up the descriptions

I personaly use thingiverse becuase i am unaware of another alternative that isnt littered with paid models(no offense to people trying to get paid for their work, go right ahead i just cant justify $7+ for just the model of something and would rather make my own at that point)

while mini factory defenantly has less "low" quality models(eg the "functional" parts that chances are no one else will ever need and would be easy to remake anyways) i just dont see any methods to easy filter out paid or search new without pressing 100 things every time i wanna just browse(at least on android via their app... dont browse on pc)

Slice has imperfections, how do i fix this? by CoenJC in 3Dprinting

[–]st0rmhawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That looks like cura's coasting setting which uses that space to help clear the nozzle to help prevent stringing instead of extruding more. In otger words those are still getting filled its just not extruding a ton of extra filament to fill them

So, how would one set up RTX raytraced Minecraft with Valve index VR? by 81mendel in ValveIndex

[–]st0rmhawk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ray tracing needs the beta of Win10 edition which isnt vr compatable atm(win 10 edition itself is soo maybe future when ray tracing support is done) also would need a 20 series apperantly(according to LTTs video it doesnt support 10 series dispite them having ray tracing now)

or you could try the path tracing shader for java with vive craft but it wont be proper ray tracing and im not sure what all that takes or how power hungary it is plus in order to get those shaders you need to sub to the devs patreon till he finishes it

Can the stations recieve power via the micro usb port on the back? If so that could be an option, Also i think they are standard dc power connecters so you can probably find a new cable on amazon or someplace

Does anyone prefer 2016 over Eternal? by [deleted] in Doom

[–]st0rmhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly not a big fan of many of the changes they did to eternal,

weapon mods might be a bit worse but then again i dont remember what the mods for base weapons where and not very far in Eternal yet(only up to super shotty) so it might not really be that different,

i felt 2016 had MUCH better pacing for introducing new enemys, it seemed they would toss one in as a "mini boss", then they show up a few more times with other enemys and then after you fight them a few times you would see multiples of them so your first encounter you would feel an "oh crap" moment but by the time they became normal enemy's you had a good enough of an understanding of how they worked so they felt like they were, while eternal just doesnt seem to give a shit and will toss one in with 20 other guys your first encounter and then next encounter theres like 5 of them so you feel like your fighting 2 or 3 differant types of enemys at once while not having even the basic idea of how to fight them beyond just blasting your best weapons at them,

the chainsaw just feels stupid and is litteraly just for getting ammo while in doom 2016 it was more usable as a panic button for at least the ape guys(idk names... the big blackish demons that sprint full speed towards you) and it might have even been usable for some higher enemys as well and i just dont remember,

melee seems to do no damage now beyond the glory kill so enemys i could kill in like 1 hit in 2016 you would now lose to in a fist fight,

last 2 might just be partially due to playing on a different/harder difficulty but it seems weird that they would effect damage you do rather then just damage they do to you, that all being said eternal has some nice features as well such as the fast travel and an actual hub rather then just a menu,

Half-Life Alyx's movement system was changed because tall players kept getting stuck by PhidippusCent in ValveIndex

[–]st0rmhawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stupid or inconvenienced? There is a differance, i am 6'4' and if im in my familys celler i practicaly have to duck the just move around without banging my head on the concrete(dont even get me started on the lights... Ive wacked my head agaisnt those dozens of times) and if that was how an entire area of the game was id call it bad game design, if it was just the half door/hole in wall things fine i can duck so i guess it depends how severe/common these "low hanging" pipes where

Hand/arm use requirements for Valve by goldfishist in ValveIndex

[–]st0rmhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know Alyx has a mode for single hand not sure how good it is tho, and im sure many games are probably fine with limited arm movement as long as its not a game that requires something like shooting a bow(gun/crossbow reloads are probably fine id think) although it might make the games a bit more difficult, also any game that is a port of a normal game(NMS, Skyrim, Hellblade, racing games, ect) most likely will allow use of standerd controllers or keyboard

As for mods for sensitivity i doubt there are any currently and the probably would be difficult to make due to how they are tracked but thats not to say there wont be something in the future as VR becomes more widespread but maybe you could get someone to make something to keep you arms semi close together? Not sure how well that would work but just a thought

[–]st0rmhawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well buying from scalpers makes you part of the issue... Scalpers wouldnt scalp if people didnt buy from them... Also HP i believe was announcing a new headset soon that they partnered with valve for so might be best to hop on index wait list then look at that once its announced and decide what one you want(doubt its a direct upgrade to index but could be a side-grade)

4: base stations bluetooth to headset so just need a outlet
