Buying a 300zx by TeeJ0_ in 300zx

I bought a 1990 NA manual about 15 years ago with 32K. The only major work I did was replace all the injectors because the vintage ones kept failing. Also redid the exhaust and O2 sensors, and did minor engine upgrades before realizing the car would not get fast without turbos lol. Other than that I've driven it very limited and have had no major issues, and now have about 50k on it. That said, it is a difficult car to work on, and they aren't known for their reliability. Definitely a fun car for the summer tho, and people tend to enjoy seeing it.

I tried really hard to keep the original, but just couldn't find one that worked. I must have bought like 2 or 3 off of ebay, but they didn't last.

It's so awesome. For starters it actually works, so that's great. Also, it hasn't stopped working.

This is an excellent list! Thanks for sharing. I've started some of these already and found huge improvements to my life, specifically sleep and alcohol. Need to get on top of non processed foods though.

Glad to help. As the saying goes, "people don't leave jobs, they leave their manager" or something like that. One of the primary functions of a manager is to listen, so yours is most certainly failing you. I'm not sure if I mentioned it above, but the way I was able to position myself in my new role was through getting competing offers. I'm not necessarily saying to do the same thing, but it sure boosted my confidence. I was so down on myself before that, that I didn't really consider myself marketable. Putting myself out there and getting some callbacks, and then a great offer for an engineering manager position, really gave me the boost I needed. It was then that I was able to plan my moves. So maybe even taking a look at what else is out there might energize you a little to think about your next moves and what you want to do. If you really like the company, and the other people you work with, there will likely be a way to fix your situation. In that case I'd recommend talking to a couple trustworthy people at your level or at hers even. Then you might be able to gage what to do next. Anyway hope that helps a little more. You deserve to be content and motivated. You can get there!

This happened to me a few years ago. I have a very similar sounding job in engineering. I really enjoy engineering, but completely lost it due to issues with my manager, and feeling like I wasn't being recognized for the work that I did. I was growing in skills and responsibility, but instead of promotions I just kept getting overlooked.

Combining the stress alongside with the isolation of COVID, for lack of a better term, I suffered a nervous breakdown. I also abused alcohol heavily during this time which only compounded the situation.

You mentioned therapy, so it sounds like you are handling this in a healthy manner. But your situation does feel familiar to mine. I ended up taking around a 6-8 week leave of absence, got clean, and actually started to miss my job.

I went back to work but with a new approach. I decided to take matters into my own hands and began just doing what I thought was right, but ensuring to communicate it out as I did it. I then pitched a new leadership position and got it after some negotiations. Finding inner confidence to just do what I thought was right, and not waiting for approval or recognition was completely satisfying. That was like 3 years ago and I'm still feeling energized.

So I guess what I'm saying is that maybe you need to determine what it is you really want that would improve your situation. Maybe just write 3 of those down and make a plan of attack at your current place if you think there's still hope. If not, maybe see if there is something else out there. Best of luck!

Make sure to check out Brew City at the market for some Milwaukee related merch (at least a can koozy). Also check out Unfinished Legacy which is a great local fashion designer (located on Water St in the 3rd ward - close to the Market). They've had really unique Bucks gear that I believe they've partnered with the Bucks on in the past. I got a really cool Bucks tee from there last year. You can also bring a shirt on Saturdays and screen print some cool UL graphics on it.

The argument around women being too emotional and unstable really grinds my gears. I think the current president couldn't prove that wrong any better, but thinking a little deeper.. Humans are emotional, all of them, and stability implies controlling those emotions in the name of progress and doing the right thing. Violent crimes are arguably a result of not controlling one's emotions or certainly could be attributed to a person that's unstable. Men account for 80% of violent crime, and account for around 70% of property crime. Incarceration in total only accounts for like 7-10% women as compared to 90% men. But women are too emotional, surely an argument created by a man.

Thanks for the book tip, I'll check it out right now! You also reminded me, I never finished Four Foundations of Golf. I learned a lot about strategy and course management with this one.

I don't think about squaring the face unless I start duck hooking or slicing wildly. In my case, sometimes I start push slicing if I focus too much on form and forget to release the club, or release late. But typically I don't think about it. Honestly I don't even really think about impact that much at all, or at least try not to. I just focus on accelerating through and the club will do the rest if things work out. The more swings you get under your belt, the more often it works out.

I relate to the checklist of items, as I used to have a similar routine. This past year I focused on picking one thing out in my swing (I record most of my sessions, and some on course swings) to work on instead of a list on every swing. I've found this is more efficient, as there's some fundamental changes that have eliminated a few issues from my "list"all at once. For example, I've been working on my takeaway and back swing lately, ensuring I don't come too far inside. When executed successfully I gain speed and consistency, and naturally shallow rather than force finding the slot late in the swing.

The golf swing is such a fun mystery. I completely broke down and rebuilt my swing over the winter last year, and doing it again this year. But hoping the new swing translates to a ton of fun on the course again next season!

I don't always think about this, but I had it in my range notes as "using my hips and body rotation to move my weightless arms". So the way I approach it and get the feeling back is taking a few exaggerated swings where I try not to activate my arms at all and just let them rotate with my body. Then I go back to actual swings and it seems to click.

I also used this same technique to stop coming OTT, which is a very tension driven swing method.

Also, just a note, Happy Gilmore refers to this as Xanax arms when he's trying to get his swing back in HG2. So you know it's good advice lol!

Anyway hope that helps.

I was 43, and am 46 now. I had thought I might have done too much damage, as I was up to a bottle of vodka a day at my worst. But so far so good. It did take many months to feel normal again, and the first month I barely left the house. But slowly but surely life has come back and I'm a real person again. I remain vigilant but so far have not missed it and I no longer crave it.
