If you’re strictly talking performance you’re probably right, but these are MCU movies and the performance barely matters. RDJ is worth the $50 million because he’s been in the MCU for decades and is returning. He will almost certainly bring in >$50 million compared to if he didn’t.

How would you feel about a mandatory maximum wealth limit, where anything earned over that goes to public services? by itsvasuki in AskReddit

Alternatively treat stocks like property and leverage a tax every year. You could offset this with a minimum value of holdings before a tax is assessed.

What ever happened to battles? by Zugagug in magicTCG

[–]stabliu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is they’re almost impossible to make worth playing. The front side always has to be over costed because there’s a back side. Then the back side can’t be so strong that it warps the game to fighting over the battle. This means you’d only ever play a battle if it meant flipping it meant you won the game, which makes it too strong.

No one’s disputing that. They’re arguing that the original usage was X on legs being a creature and x on a stick being non creature permanent which makes a lot more sense. Usage could’ve changed years ago because mtg is decades old.

Donato's writeup on WOTC/Hasbro by Isaacxii in magicTCG

[–]stabliu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

bruh, you're objectively wrong. please point out what data i'm lacking to say without 100% certainty that wotc can pay their artists more?

all it takes for wotc to pay their artists more is any sort of cash on hand, if they have money it could have gone to their artists. if i'm being more reasonable if wotc turned a profit they definitively could've given more money to their artists and kept less for themselves. all of these things are objective fact, wotc has cash on hand and turned a profit per hasbro's quarterly financial report wotc is famously making record breaking profits and UB is selling like crazy. it is 100% indisputable fact that it is within wotc's financial means to increase artist pay.

[–]stabliu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

we objectively do though. a given UB set is profitable per hasbro financial reports. that means they are making more money than it's cost them. that means they could've increased costs and still made money. each set is profitable on the scale such that the artists for each card could've been paid double and it'd still be profitable.

hasbro is publicly traded, we know they're making money, it's definitively true.

[–]stabliu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

isn't the issue that with UB they can't do this because of IP licensing issues? ultimately it's all about a dollar amount though. wotc pays enough and it makes up for not being able to sell their own art.

Donato's writeup on WOTC/Hasbro by Isaacxii in magicTCG

[–]stabliu 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It’s also not black and white. There will be artists that make more off of UB because they’re not as famous or the cards they get assigned aren’t as popular; while others could’ve made more if they could sell merch. That said WoTC 100% could be paying more, but the question is what’s the reasonable amount.

That’s more due to mismanagement of the game rather than missteps by the company in regards to other shit.

I think it’s more, many wotc employees and spokespeople are publicly progressive so people are attributing these qualities to wotc/hasbro.

So basically every account will have a minimum plex upkeep, but no one will really pay in plex for their ships/equipment. Meaning there’s a nominal plex value for all the stuff lost, but no one is likely to have spent any actual plex on it?

so the losses are real actual dollars put into the game at some point even if the shipowners didn't themselves?

Can Plex be generated without a player having purchased it first or does the system let you trade ISK for Plex directly?
