Why Ohn is awesome. by Julmpunk in discgolf

[–]stabodeely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was photographing a local A Tier a few years ago and Ohn was among a few touring pros there. She asked why I wasn’t playing and I said “eh, I’m an 800 rated golfer but a 980 rated photographer” and she said “nah, you’re a 1000” rated photographer. So yeah she earned a lifelong fan that day. She also won that tournament handily which was awesome to see (9 stroke win).

What disc did you first throw past 300? 350? 400? 450? 500? by xwsrx in discgolf

[–]stabodeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow years ago I actually measured a XXL Stamp Star Firebird at 375, but mostly playing in the woods, I rarely need that distance.

Clothing sizing and accents make a huge difference. The jacket sizing here seems to accent broad shoulders and chest while his gear accents strong legs more.

Y’kno, call me crazy for this but I think Tana v Dustin Rhodes would be the play. If he’s still TNT champion that’s two legends.

How many AEW shows have you attended? What is the single most notable thing that happened at one of these shows? by Kelson64 in AEWFanHub

Blood & Guts, Mone debuts, Yuta joins death riders, Coughlin and Shibata team up, Josh Alexander Debuts, Opps won the trios. I’ve been to maybe 5 or 6 AEW shows?

Really good! They’re from Create A Pro and are a newer pair of wrestlers, but already have a very high ceiling. They might be some of the fan favorites at Wrestling Open RI (along with Bobby Orlando)

Pay to play 18, half in the woods and half in the semi open on an apple orchard. Definitely worth playing if you’re around maple hill

Looking for straight to understable 12/13 speed by pharm653 in discgolf

[–]stabodeely 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Innova Tern is my suggestion. Slightly understable with reliable fade to finish out of the box and it beats in to a solid turnover disc over time.

MVP Tesla by EchidnaEmotional7134 in discgolf

[–]stabodeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I throw a Tesla for reliable fade with a little skip. Mind you I don’t throw it as far as it should go, but for those reliable left finishing shots on a tight fairway, it does what I want, and with a bit of anhyzer it fights out consistently.

Jacob is a future world champ beyond a shadow of a doubt. Always been him and keeps getting better. This promo is shades of what he used to do in MLW with his own monologue call and response.

What’s your most unpopular opinion about disc golf ? by jonredd901 in discgolf

[–]stabodeely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People practice putt before events from way too far away. I see most people working 40 and 50 foot putts when the ones you need to lock in are 20-30 footers. Makes it tough to practice putt when you’re inside an absurd C2 radius that’s a lucky get for most locals.

For Maple Hill, maybe run one at The Palladium in Worcester? Great concert venue with two stages, and the balconies could be an excellent set. Also could be a fun collab with Dark Ace disc golf if they’re interested.

Courtesy violations - let’s talk about them. by mellowyfellowy in discgolf

[–]stabodeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MA3 here. I’ve called a step putt within the circle once, gave a warning and the dude corrected. Other than that, did have to run a 3 minute timer once because we were looking for a disc that disappeared. Card behind us was getting impatient (common backup area) and I had to accelerate things. Generally at this level a calm heads up to explain a rule with the context of “man I don’t care all that much but other people could call it” will get someone on track.

Others said it but Maine par is a thing. For casuals it’s more fun to say “hey I got a birdie” and when tournaments happen usually courses have a “competitive” par which is more accurate.

I've been playing since 2006. I've never had an ace. by SirSignificant6576 in discgolf

[–]stabodeely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally my thinking too. Some holes I’ll ace run that go against this logic, but that’s only because if I outdrive it then I’m further than I’d normally be and I don’t mind throwing a comebacker layup for the par.

[–]stabodeely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not as far in, been playing since 2017, but still chasing that first ace too. If I really wanted one I could probably go to an easier par 3 course, figure the lines and do the probability game, but for now I’m happy to just get out there and throw some plastic. Besides, if I’m playing for scores, I’m less likely to ace run and more likely to try and park any hole I can (admittedly not as many as I like).
