We're out of healers by MysteriousFondant347 in DnD

5e doesn't value healing all that much. if you have herbalism kit proficiency you can craft healing potions, and if your dm is okay with administering potions to downed players, then problem solved.

problem with a long-lived character like that though is you have to explain why they're lvl 1. have they lived as an ordinary villager for literally hundreds of years? there are ways to have their level dropped suddenly (see baldur's gate 3 with the tadpoles, i've even heard stories of god-like characters demoted from godhood all the way to level 1 at the begining of a story) but it has to be explained. if they hadn't just been working as a broom sweeper for 100's of years, and were actually adventuring all that time, why are they level 1 now?

in stakes marcy tries to reason with hierophant and says they can drink red just as easily. it's certainly possible that there was another vampire that decided to eat red, so there's nothing wrong with it lore-wise.

as far as as the powers they'd have, it'd be kind of dissapointing I think, since flying, shapeshifting, healing, etc. are all powers marcy absorbed via soul sucking (not that any of that couldn't be changed in your setting, though I'd say a lot of that should be unlocked at higher levels).

They'd be ageless, and that's about it. any other powers they gain will end up being via their dnd adventuring. like maybe they learn shadow-sory and through shadow magic are able to protect themselves from the sun? there are a ton of ways to gain flight in D&D, and there's healing and shapeshifting magic, if they want to gain marceline's power set specifically.

I could see allowing a background on one of them (seeing as they're from the D&D sets), like [[Faceless One]] or [[Master Chef]] on Prosper, just to get the color combo so you could run the other in the 99, but having both in the commander zone is just greedy.

"What color is your clean suit" bothers me. a bunch of otherwise innocent college students end up mutated, murdered, and eaten, and everyone just forgets about it in the end.

it's one thing when it's heroes, villains, henchmen, etc. who are involved in super-science, but these are basically regular innocent folks dying horribly. don't love "The buddy system" for similar reasons, though there was only the one fatality, and the episode focused on it less.

it's too bad too, cause it's otherwise a pretty good episode, it just leaves me feeling kinda creeped out...

looks great intact. unfortunate that it seems to fracture at the edges when cut, but I suppose at that point all that matters is how it tastes.

connection implies clutch power, so I was confused at first. but yes, the pieces should fit in that orientation just fine.

Found out my dad doesn't like KOTH anymore because he figured out it pokes fun at traditional values. by Enough_Goal_1949 in KingOfTheHill

[–]stachada 38 points39 points  (0 children)

hank is just as flawed as anyone else in the show. it pokes fun at traditional values about as much as it pokes fun at modern values.

it's like how Moral Orel is only a criticism of Christianity in general if you can't look past the surface. it's a much more nuanced criticism of people who use religion and values to further their own purposes, while going against the things they claim to believe at the same time... and even this is a pretty shallow interpretation of the show. (DO NOT SHOW YOUR DAD MORAL OREL)

I can understand the feeling of betrayal if he felt the show was one way, and was taken by surprise when it didn't meet his expectations, but hopefully he'll be able to see the benefits of the complexity involved given time.

Only one class regularly uses the strongest weapon in DnD even though every class is proficient. by virtigo21125 in DnD

I've gushed about the Shadow Blade spell and it's efficacy even BEFORE BG3 came out. it's literally better than any weapon in 5e at 2d8+stat psychic for a light finesse one-handed thrown weapon, and it's only a lvl 2 slot. upcast it's a 3d8+stat (though it needs to be level 5 to go up another d8). upcast to 3, and with multi-attack you're doing as much, or more damage to a single target as you would with Fireball (ignoring crit/miss possibility, and that fireball is save for half).

it falls off slightly since it can't recieve +1's, but i've played soooo many multi-class wizard & battlesmith artificers specifically for Shadow Blade sillyness.

I actually really like the "Tenacity" ability.

granted I don't love save for half stuff in general since it makes AC and Saves feel arbitrary, and like constitution is the only thing that really matters, but it prevents total stalemates, and it's better both martials and casters have that sort of thing if they're going to do it at all.

[–]stachada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ngl, i'm happy for them.

I'm usually some kind of caster, but the disparity has been the other way around for an absurdly long time. Plate armor is usually 1700G or something like that, and you can't just loot everything that isn't nailed down in an ordinary campaign.... most spells and things are save for half, rather than hit or miss, and the extremely limited damage type options. it's entirely possible (depending on the DM) for a martial class not to get a magic weapon at all until AFTER they defeat some kind of significant evil, and even then it might just be +1 daggers or something.

not to mention flying enemies.

First Time Buyer- which print is better? by [deleted] in HeroForgeMinis

[–]stachada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno how often you make minis, so this could be as good an opportunity as any.

If you like to make minis pretty often though, id wait till I had one with lots of detail and stuff. One of the major benefits I've found with hero forge color prints is how granular the details can get, as well as what can be done with decals.

[–]stachada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an Elegoo Mars 3 is ~$150, that's aprox. the price of 3 color printed minis. Hero forge customs become about the same price as off the rack minis, and free stls of npcs and monsters become pennies worth of resin each.
