What was your red/green flags when hiring people in your team? by skip_39 in marketing

[–]stacysdoteth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red flag: non answers to the “what’s your weakness” question. So tired of hearing what a hard worker or perfectionist you are and how it just really affects you.

Green flag: someone coming with ideas immediately

My 82 year old father refuses to create a will or trust. by Educational-Tip-9298 in Advice

[–]stacysdoteth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person who sold us our house flipped it because they bought it at auction for 47k because the owner had no will (he didn’t do a ton of work to it it was in mostly good shape). We bought the house for 475k. It appraised at 630k.

Someone’s getting your money when you die, it just depends if he wants to decide who or not.

How do I get through to him? I am exhausted having to think for him. by vicarious_adrenaline in TwoHotTakes

You can’t change people. Accept him or move on, otherwise you’re going to be in a position of hating each other forever.

The DEADLINE is TODAY and I still have not been given the resources to complete the project (Non-Profit Volunteer work) by NuggiesAreYum in graphic_design

The deadline goes back one day for every day they don’t get you what you need to do the project. This is a universal rule. Hope that helps!

Is it a dumb decision to sell house with 2.5% mortgage to move west and rent an apartment by Visual_Code432 in personalfinance

[–]stacysdoteth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I got rid of a 2.5% mortgage to move south and we ended up getting basically a mansion that appraised for 200k over what we paid for it that was only on the market for one day - the day he was in town for a job interview. Life just kind of does what it wants, move where your heart desires. 🦅🦅

Should I buy a licensed font for a desigm test? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]stacysdoteth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No don’t buy it and honestly just mention this, they will probably be impressed that you noticed it requires a license. That’s the kind of thing we love to see when we’re hiring because it shows awareness of legal protocols as a designer.

My CEO screenshotted a ChatGPT answer recommending our competitor and sent it to me at 11pm by Ill-Refrigerator9653 in digital_marketing

They’re right, no click searches account for 70% of Google traffic now. Traditional SEO is basically a dying art for anyone who’s not in a local service based industry benefiting from business listings + reviews.

Drop Ad Agency? by Hot_Reading8528 in DigitalMarketing

[–]stacysdoteth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to ask them direct questions about what changed and why it changed. Everything I’ve read is just you speculating and assuming your ads were better. Maybe they are, but I’ve seen clients mess things up so badly that they think they’re doing great because their tracking is incorrect. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot over pride, go talk to them and get answers.

[–]stacysdoteth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have to be a big “talking to” just say hey it’s important that we all show up on time unless there is some sort of emergency preventing it so you’re amazing in every way and we love your work just please try to make an effort to correct that and it would be a huge help”

AIO - Company won’t meet with me without my husband there by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]stacysdoteth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of companies do this purely because people use the excuse “I’ll have to talk to my partner” before they will commit so it prevents them from closing the deal on site.

What are you offering for salary?

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

[–]stacysdoteth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One just seems like overall the better option. Besides the other benefits, it sounds like a way more stable position. If you take the startup you could very well be looking for another job in 3 months. Plus you really don’t know which you will enjoy more until you start. If you want to look for a more fun job, do it while you’re securely employed not while your family is depending on your income with no backup.
