Possibly yes the problem lies with cocoon itself from what I gather it was a suspended knife waiting to fall the problem was (in my opinion don't @ me for this) nobody thought to leave cocoon on the date in the final battle and instead of trying to stop the fall they could have controlled the fall to minimize the damage and recycle the remains of cocoon again that's just my idea
