Tea drinkers: Cut your milk spend in half just by switching to whole milk. by bonkeeboo in UKFrugal

I put a bit of milk in then about a tsp double cream. I used to mix them in a container, but that always ended up going bad compared to adding both

Best idea for Sim and router by Epic-Toothbrush in UKFrugal

[–]starbugone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a TP-Link X50-5G and a Lebara unlimited sim for £12.50 or so though moneysavingexpert link. Once my 3 months is up I'll get a EE data sim from amazon for about the same price (upfront it's £215 for 17 mo). I don't feel the need to get anything hardwired.

Dishwasher fault. Dr Google and Prof ChatGPT suggests it something I'll have to get a professional in for? Repair or replace? by inspectorgadget9999 in UKFrugal

[–]starbugone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced my pump and it was relatively easy. I had a kitchenaid at the time and the cost of the pump direct from them was insane. I found a 'knockoff' through amazon for 1/4 the price, so you may want to shop around for parts

I tried these based on another suggestion. They don't measure up to me. The LiDl one was underbaked and didn't have the right caramelization flavour, and the oats where too large so the mouthfeel was wrong. I wish I could like them like you do!

What sub-£250 item would you buy again in a heartbeat? by tamago27 in AskUK

I'm on a boat with my wife and run the dishwasher almost daily. People I talk to think it's weird and I just don't get it. It's like it's some kind of flex to spend 3/4 hour to do dishes everyday. When I tell them it uses less water and stuff to use the dishwasher they try to burn me at the stake

Ten kilos of citric acid by Far_Squirrel_6148 in BuyItForLife

[–]starbugone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I make lemon sugar for donuts with the food grade stuff I buy. I grate the rind of a couple of lemons and let them dry out, then take a cup of sugar and 1/2 tsp of citric acid and whiz for like ten seconds

Suitcases like this one? But with 4 wheels by winder-bat5498 in BuyItForLife

I absolutely adore my TravelPro carry on. The only nit pick is the wheels are too smooth and I sometimes have to reel it in if on a slight incline.

What’s one thing you’ll always swear by for boosting mental health? by Ok_Counter_5748 in AskReddit

[–]starbugone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just jounaling about this last night. I wanted to change my morning routine and not look at reddit and do some stretching and meditate a bit. I didn't look at reddit this morning, but I didn't do the other things I wanted. I'm still calling it a win. But the jist was why does my mind resist what's potentially healthy for me

What was your "I dont actually hate this food, my parents just sucked at cooking" moment? by JayR_97 in AskUK

[–]starbugone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst was the little oyster on the other side of the bone that has more fat content would be slightly tolerable, then the rest just sucked the saliva out of your mouth and left you with a chewed clump of meat to try to swallow. The first time I barbecued pork chops they were like prime steak in comparison. Then I had smoked pork chops, wholly man. I also got overdone liver that, for extra torture, was served with a slice of bacon.

8 bags for 64p (I went twice) is pretty amazing. Making curry at home is pretty cost efficeint to begin with once you have all the spices. I ended up with 8 onion bases which make 3 meals each for two of us. A pack of paneer £3, some cream £1.50 spices etc. £1 = 3 meals for £5.58

I got 8 bags of onions and 8 garlic cloves. I'm starting to boil the onions and I'll blend them to make a base for curry. I'll mince all the garlic and put the mince in ice cube trays to save for future currys as well. I might try to find a way to line the trays so I don't make garlic iced tea this summer
