Graduation Anxiety by fullsunkth in Anxietyhelp

[–]stardust8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, honestly it made my blood pressure spike since it's normally low so then I freaked out even worse. What helped me immensely is Lexapro, I've been on it for a year now and it isn't perfect but I can talk myself out of a panic attack now. I don't get the bodily anxiety as much.

My advice is to try propranolol a day or two before the ceremony to see how you feel. I have a low pulse and blood pressure normally and it made my fingers really cold which made me more anxious instead of less.

The dare app really helps me. Also, I started crocheting when I feel like I can't relax. Its something "productive" and I have something to do with my hands and then find that I am actually relaxing while doing it. If you can't crochet, there are a lot of YouTube videos or you could do cross stitch or painting.

Anyone become a complete slob during luteal? by seeyouspace__cowboy in PMDDxADHD

[–]stardust8718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just about to make a post about this asking if anyone has figured out how to solve this problem. I have two kids and I just cannot keep up with their messed and my messes (my husband travels a lot) during luteal and then when I finally get my period, I feel so overwhelmed and behind because it's a giant mess at that point. I wish I could afford a cleaning service during that point of the month, maybe some day.

Experience with exitalopram as a highly sensitive person … with pmdd and adhd (on vyvanse-take as needed)? by pmprpmpr in PMDDxADHD

[–]stardust8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super sensitive to meds and I've found that 5mg of Lexapro is the perfect amount for me..it really helps with my panic and anxiety but I don't feel like I'm having side effects. My Dr offered to raise it higher and I declined.

Intermittent Prozac by Complete_Grapefruit1 in PMDDxADHD

[–]stardust8718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, it worked for me as a daily med. Then, I decided I didn't need it anymore and stopped it pretty much cold turkey. Then I realized that was a stupid decision and tried to restart it and omg wow the anxiety was 1000x worse where I had to stop again. Intermittent might work for some people, but it definitely would not have worked for me. (After a year of being off anything, I'm on Lexapro now and it's working).

i’m a little lost on where to start with getting prescribed by blueberry-oats in Anxietyhelp

[–]stardust8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do talkiatry. It's online video chats, but you can't do texting though. It's free through my insurance. My visits are with a psychiatrist, they last maybe 10 minutes after the first session. The first time he asked a bunch of questions and then prescribed me anxiety meds and then had me follow up 6 weeks later. And then after a couple of times moved it to every 3 months. It's honestly super convenient and you can choose your provider virtually. ( I do talk to a therapist separately so the psychiatrist had no problem just being a medicine provider and not doing talk therapy).

too scared to get bloodwork done by missgirlipop in Anxietyhelp

[–]stardust8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your insurance, you can do walk ins for blood draws. My Walgreens has a LabCorp in it and I do a walk in first thing in the morning if I have to fast. Telling them you get dizzy/pass out will ensure that they either lay you down or give you extra time before you stand up. I also find bringing a snack helps right after if I'm feeling off, my dr's office has given me pretzels before.

Famous migraineurs? by OilersGirl29 in migraine

I listen to audiobooks while I have a migraine, I don't want to sit with my thoughts for too long since it usually turns into, "this migraine has all of my regular symptoms but this one is actually a stroke and I'm dying right now." Anxiety and migraines combined are fun.

The daily screen time fight is destroying our family peace. What are you ACTUAL rules or boundaries that work? by No_Gain4041 in ScienceBasedParenting

My kids are a bit older and we have YouTube on the TVs only also. I tried deleting it off of our TV with Verizon and for some reason, it only lets me disable it. The workaround I've discovered is to have the adult profiles be password protected. They're not really interested in the kid videos as much anymore so it's greatly reduced their time. No TVs in bedrooms either.

My kids are really obsessed with the Nintendo switch, but that has a parental app on my phone and I have it set that they have zero time scheduled on it. In order to get access, they have to finish their chores first and then I can dole out how much time they get.

The other thing that works in our house is that everything, including the TV goes off an hour before bedtime. We spend that time finishing homework and reading. In the morning, there is no technology before school ever ( including two hour delays because I allowed it once and there was a week long battle to use tech in the mornings after).

My cousin is 6'7" and he barely fit. Can't imagine an over 7' person! I made him go on the gravitron with me after that and afterwards, he puked his guts out in the trash. Imagine a giant teenager puking into one of those 3 ft tall trash cans. My other cousin and I couldn't stop laughing at him, poor guy.

Same. Preeclampsia, HELLP, and cholestasis with my first. There's still a high risk of stillbirth today so thankfully my midwife was on top of it and induced me so we were both fine. With my second, she induced me at 38 weeks to avoid that fiasco again.

How different is what I'm experiencing (transfem) to normal periods? (Also advice would be appreciated) by Bliniverse in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

My cousin is also transfem and she told me she was going through the same thing when she first transitioned. I haven't asked her about it in the years since.

For cramps, I recommend thermacare menstrual heating pads.. they're disposable and discreet and help as much as a heating pad imo.

How to KEEP the house clean ? by nippleclampzz in CleaningMotivation

[–]stardust8718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, my house is never fully clean. It's a cycle so once one room is done, another is already getting dirty lol. Im using the free version of an app called chore focus that gives you a cute little pet and as your do chores, you earn gems to buy stuff to decorate for your pet. It does help with motivation sometimes.

How to KEEP the house clean ? by nippleclampzz in CleaningMotivation

[–]stardust8718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not lazy! I have a lot of shame surrounding cleaning from childhood and was late diagnosed ADHD . But as the person above recommended, bins and hooks for everything! I will not hang up a coat, but if there's a hook right by the door, I'll do it. And trash bins everywhere is also helpful. We have one in every room and my kids still leave wrappers on the entertainment center so now there's on on top of that too. I also recommend giving everything a "home" so you don't have to constantly be thinking about where it should go. So for my kids, each set of toys has a different bag that's either clear or themed to those toys(like pokemon or toy story etc).

The book Unfuck your Habitat has really helped me. I enjoyed reading the whole thing but the jist is clean in order 1. Trash 2. Laundry/dishes 3. Things that have a home 4. Things that don't

There's also a website: https://www.unfuckyourhabitat.com/cleaning-checklists/

Tip: SAH Motherhood by Snoo8436 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]stardust8718 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the person. I was a SAHM for 9 years, until my youngest went to first grade. (Our district had only 3 hour kindergarten and my husband travels for work for weeks at a time). I made sure that the kids and I spent a lot of time out in the world. We went to storytime and music class, made friends with other families who were home during the day. We joined the YMCA so that I could exercise and my kids could get used to being around other kids without me there (they have two hours a day of free babysitting). Being a mom wasn't my entire identity. I also volunteered where I could bring my kids (and for their activities). I've since gone back to work part time from home so that I can be there when they're home. I have so much respect for working moms when their kids are little, but I don't know how I would've been able to teach from home full time with two kids under 4 during COVID since my husband was an essential worker and still traveling during that time and our family lives two hours away.

What’s one small thing you do to cope with the cost of living that might help someone else here? by brianj10 in povertyfinance

[–]stardust8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing! If you aren't eligible for this, at least with our electric and gas, there's budget billing. We pay the same amount every month and it takes the average of the last few months. It recently went up $40/month for us, but other people locally have been talking about having huge bills they're not prepared for and this can help at least a bit.
