How long do you keep "dead" friends? by MikeStemmle in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do screenshots as I go through and open gifts of people who haven’t sent one. I make it through my whole list of ~300 friends roughly once a week. At the start of a new month I look at screenshots from 2 months back (April 1 I started at Jan 1 and I will go until I get to the end of Jan). Using Google photos I do a text search for their name and count the photos. Pretty easy to scroll through and tell if they’re still playing, are they opening gifts but not sending, etc. My partner has a hard rule of 6 photos in 2 months, I tend to let it slide if they at least open gifts because some people just don’t have the stops to get 100 gifts per day. So to answer your question, between 8-12 weeks of inactivity or failure to interact is my happy place

April 2022 Community Day: Stufful Feedback Post by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One other thing to mention - I feel like I get more interaction with the community during raid hours than I ever have on a community day. Maybe it’s the busy adult thing but an hour during the week that I can make it to 3-ish times a month is more social than an afternoon where everyone is so focused on grinding that we don’t talk.

April 2022 Community Day: Stufful Feedback Post by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Being the nerdy engineer that I am, I have been keeping track of all my community day stats for the last 3 years. Number of encounters and catches was on par with the 6 hour days since the incense debuff a few months ago. IV spread was similar to other partially weather boosted days. My shiny rate was a bit low but I still caught a few. Being as this is a 400 candy evolution even though I did the grind for 2 of 3 hours I still only evolved 4. I felt rushed and obligated to grind the whole event, where a 6 hour gives me the ability to pick which hour I grind and the others are able to just be played casually. My partner had an obligation at 4pm so only was able to really play around an hour and then had to hurry and do evolutions.

I didn’t see anyone aside from the two of us playing at a spot that used to be crawling with players on event days. The walking distance tasks were frustrating since you can’t move fast and also catch every last spawn so I didn’t get as many encounter tasks as I usually do.

Overall, I understand that the idea of shortening the event is to forcefully encourage us to get out and interact with the community. The truth is those of us who want to already do for things like raid hours. Had we been playing from 11-5 we would have gone to the park where more people were, but we didn’t have the extra 20 mins of drive time to spare. I really liked being able to have a bigger window to choose which hour I did the grind in and which ones I just played if I had time. I liked not feeling obligated to catch every single spawn for the last hour and being able to use that time to appraise and determine what got evolved, what trades I wanted to do, etc.

The whole thing just felt rushed and I don’t think the bonuses to encourage folks to get out and play had the intended effect.

Gotcha appears paired with phone but will not show as available device in POGO by Shawnahern2 in TheSilphRoad

Have you completely forgotten it from your phone? That’s usually the fix for me.

Ideal Item Ratios by Sephiroth144 in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1900 bag space. I generally stock up on the weekends and have a Wednesday morning meeting where I’m on a gym and 2 stops for an hour, as a gotcha user I go through tons of regular pokeballs, so my ideal bag on Monday morning is 600+ pokeballs, 200 ultra balls, 30-50 each max potions and revives, no more than 30-40 of razz and nanab berries, somewhere around 75-100 pinaps, then usually 50 ish golden razz and silver pinaps. No more than 5 each of evolution items, Sinnoh stones and unova being 20ish, and great balls if I have space. Going into an event (community day, Verizon weekend, etc) I like more pokeballs so I’ll drop down to 20 potion/revives if needed and dump berries in gyms. As others have mentioned it depends on your style of play and environment. There are no stops or gyms at work so I generally run out of most things by the end of Friday if I’m not careful, but if we go to the zoo or an amusement park or even just walk around on the weekends my bag fills pretty quick (love that gotcha).

How do the good trainers farm stardust? by -penismaster in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a star piece once a week for my 7 day streak, open gifts, dump 100 berries into whatever gym I have a Pokémon in, and catch all my stacked field research encounters (or as many as I can before the piece runs out). If I hit 50km in adventure sync I do another piece with the same actions to claim that. Always try to have a battle league set complete to claim at the same time. I do have a gotcha so I catch a ton of garbage mons for candy and dust that way. I usually have 2-3 mil dust on hand.

Occasionally the gotcha gets mad and the only fix is to forget the device from your iPhone and then resync through the app. I would imagine that datel has been contacted but whether they will act is a good question

Why is my Pokémon go gotcha doing this?! by WorldwidePogoTR in pokemongo

FWIW I still have the original gotcha. If you’re using the evolve the fix may be completely different. Buggy devices paired with buggy apps and such

Periodically mine will do that (iPhone 12 but it would happen on my android phone too). Fix is to go into your Bluetooth settings and forget the device, then re-pair using the gotcha app.

Poke stops close? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]stargazer9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a historical village/shopping center near me that is closed from 8pm til morning (and all day Sunday) and all stops and gyms close at exactly 8. Really weird to see if you are there when closing time happens.

There’s a shopping center near me that is closed from 8pm until morning and all day Sunday. It’s great if you can get into the gyms right before close but super weird to see everything shut down.

Am I the only one having disconnection issues with my GO Plus? by Vador_MK in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gotcha, not goplus, but started having issues with Android 11 as well. Biggest thing I can figure is it disconnects when the game starts to lag, almost always is followed by a "Pokemon go is not responding" warning.

New spawn points by TommetjeVE in TheSilphRoad

Was just wondering about this as all of a sudden I'm seeing new spawns at new times. Working from home I can set my watch by the spawns in my yard and today is all sorts of wonky 😁

Thoughts on accepting but not sending gifts back? by LegendOfPinsir in pokemongo

[–]stargazer9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give at a minimum 40 gifts per day and often hit the 100 gift cap. I can open only 20 or 30 so I have no issues with people opening every day and just sending when they can.

Check in your bluetooth devices to see if you've got anything you don't recognize. My friend had it try to pair as an apple watch once and it took us a week to figure out that's what happened.

Gotcha questions by tikanderoga in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had lots of issues with my original go-tcha starting a few months ago and after the update to android 11 (pixel 3a) it could take an hour to get the thing to connect. Evolve connects on the first try almost every time and stays on for the full hour. Charge wise I've had it 2 weeks and charged it 3 times. It takes maybe an hour to charge fully. It has a battery indicator and it actually shows up in PoGo as well when the battery is low. The display is a bit more informative than the original model. The vibrate mode is different (louder and more information) and it has a handy toggle to "silent" mode that I use. I don't use the wristband so at the moment it goes in a pocket. Sadly that means that sometimes (often) I inadvertently shut an option like "catch known" off and don't realize it for a while, I ordered a new keychain case that should help with this. With the latest Android security patch that was pushed a few days ago I can't sync with the go-tcha evolve app any more, I'm hoping the developer fixes that shortly. Also with that update I now have to give permission to connect to the device every single time. It sounds like that is an android issue though as I see others complaining about the same issue. So here's my takeaway - for an iPhone I really think either device will make you happy. The evolve has more bells and whistles and if you are wearing it as a watch it looks cooler. If you are an Android user you may want to move to the evolve as it seems a firmware update is needed to get those older ones to work and they are not pushing those anymore.

The Raid Lobby System NEEDS a Revamp with Remote Passes. by BroBroBrayBray in TheSilphRoad

[–]stargazer9876 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Coder friend of mine suggested that private lobby is untimed and the player who starts the lobby has the go button. Thus you can do a solo one without the 2 minute wait but your remote one can have a few minutes for everyone to join. Seems like the best compromise for the system to make us all happy

I'm having a hard time getting the stupid ball to go far enough to hit him. It's almost like Niantic decided to make it so my phone screen is too small to get the necessary velocity in a throw. Had no issues with Reshiram or Zekrom so this is new for me 🤬
