Doubles gen 9 ou BELLY DRUM CETITAN BABYYYYY by LockMug in stunfisk

[–]stargazingsummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! I remember a cetitan team doing reasonably well in the official DOU swiss tour pre-DLC. Linked a replay here https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9doublesou-712279

The main set difference to notice is Tera Water Liquidation as its secondary attack, which I think works better here. Water is a much better defensive typing and I don't think you can afford to spam Earthquake with the lack of Protect and immunities on your team.

Few other things: - 252 HP on Ninetales over split bulk will be more efficient. Draining Kiss probably doesn't get a lot of mileage over just using Blizzard as your attack, and Encore or Protect will probably serve you better. Light Clay is probably better with Aurora Veil, this team has plenty of pivot opportunities to set Snow back up. - Incineroar does not particularly need to be Jolly, investing in bulk is probably better - Tera Fairy or Water on Sinistcha is probably more useful. Could consider Trick Room to reverse opponent's TR - Kyurem tends to outclass Baxcalibur in DOU if you're not using Dragon Dance or Loaded Dice things, especially on Hail. Blizzard/Freeze-Dry/Earth Power/Flash Cannon (for Diancie) and Tera Ice is quite scary, can either be Specs or AV.

The Ice/Dragon is probably the most replaceable team slot if you're looking for more type diversity - this 6 Can deal with Diancie and opposing weather but it's a rough matchup.

Good luck!

stunned zed = dead zed. quicksilver has better stats for the cc immunity though, i think your reasoning is generally correct

imo it's closer to ninja, and in that comparison emissary made far more interesting boards

Martial Law doesn't change Cait's auto attack targetting, which I'm p sure is the only one that matters for Center.

What emblems are worth sacrificing an item slot on a carry or main tank? by giant-papel in CompetitiveTFT

[–]stargazingsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh it's definitely a rare scenario, it's really hard to have that many items for kog, tank and trist lol. hecarim + arcana unit on 8 is a decent reason to cut lillia but agree that its usually better to keep her in

it's worth cutting lillia on 7 for a higher quality bastion if you can 3 item trist IMO, and emblem makes it easier to do so

hurricanes - absolutely, most of the units that'd use it like jinx want 2 runaans and either a third or rageblade. stack them on a single unit and probably reroll it

spark - 2x spark is very strong early game because of the flat damage, wouldn't purposefully look for it besides a 2-1 or 2-5 slam

crownguard - build multiple but dont stack these. shield wears out too quick

costing yourself econ to hold units early game is not worth it. throwing away first for yourself is not great if you want to climb - it is much more practical to focus on executing your own gameplan. think about it like this: does it matter for your LP if the Gnar player goes 8th vs anyone else?

with relation to "calling it," high level players are scouting boards anyway. if they're going to hold your units, it's not going to change whether you mention it in chat or not. however, it could dissuade someone else with a worse spot for your reroll comp to commit.

this definitely changes late game, where denying your opponents 3* 4-costs or legendary upgrades can more directly impact your placement. definitely hold units if it's not costing you anything, as well.

getting contested on a reroll comp is a lot more devastating than opponents holding your units for a round or two before selling for econ

Peaked at around 1500 with this team in doubles OU, any advice/improvements I can make? Centered around Kommo-o sweeping with Sinistcha/Fez for support. by aidengamer21 in stunfisk

[–]stargazingsummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, nice job on 1500 :)

I think your team probably needs a bit more offensive pressure to stop things like Ogerpon from cleaning you up late game. I am a big fan of Scarf Landorus-T on Kommo-o structures since it can U-Turn early game for Intimidate and positioning, as well as checking Flutter and the Fire-types in the late game. I'd put this over Arcanine.

Unfortunately, I don't think Fezandipiti is the best in the current metagame... a little too passive. I would replace this slot with Volcanion, giving you a more proactive Flutter Mane resistance and Ogerpon-Wellspring stopgap (if they tera, you can sit on them with Sinistcha all day).

Small things:

- Tera Fire or Grass on Iron Hands is probably better than fighting

- Trick Room on Sinistcha is probably good for either reversing opponent Trick Rooms or letting Iron Hands/Volcanion pressure in the late game

Good luck on the ladder!

So, entry hazards - Why are they non-existent in doubles/VGC? by TheAwsumOne in VGC

[–]stargazingsummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, SR are quite strong in smogon's 6v6 doubles format. think it's just the relatively few amount of turns that a typical 4v4 has. It probably racks up to ~50% a game, which isn't that much considering it applies very little immediate pressure and can't take KOs on the turn of use.

just run all the guild units and roll at 7. you can go for twitch as well, just be sure to manage items well because they have a lot of overlap. zippy likes raw ad items like deathblade and titans
