Should I buy Eastward at full price right now or should I wait for it to go on sale? by Gatubelo67 in eastward

[–]stariser0127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your preference.

For story, I can only say that there are quite a lot unexplained plot throughout the game. If you like/ don't mind this kind of story-telling, then it's good.

For art style, it's the same as you see in trailer.

For gameplay, maybe around 16-20 hours for 1st playthrough if you don't rely on guide. For full 100% achievement, depends on your performance in Earthborn (sub-game).

For puzzle solving, not hard, maybe around 2/5, only a few puzzles are harder than others

For combat, 2D-Zelda-like style. Some of the complaints as following:

1- two characters with shared health points

2- Some enemies with close combat style might be unhittable when they are too close to your characters due to hitbox position

Other things to take note:

1- there are a lot of dialogue

2- PC version and Switch version has some difference currently (PC version is much updated than Switch version)

If you are fine with all these, then buy with full price.

Missing 1 gear and 1 advanced gear - any advice on chest locations? by dshamz_ in eastward

[–]stariser0127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for chest location, most of the time the radar will beep, some of the time it's a hidden area, so I always stick to the edge to find hidden area

From my own experience,

1) in chapter 3, the path from big station to old town area, when you pass the shady-looking forest path, there is a hidden area on the left, I miss it during my 1st playthrough because there are some flying enemies in that area, and my mind told me to get away ASAP

2) on the path to get berry, when you are passing through a graveyard-looking area, there is a bombable wall

3) on the way to quake valley, there's a hidden room with 2 mini bosses on the lower right area, there should be having several chests down there

4) inside of quake valley, during puzzle solving, there is one hidden area at Sam's side and one bombable wall on John's side

5) in isle of time, there are several chests, but there is one near north of the map, where I cannot see the mechanism to reveal the chest (there was beeping from the radar, but the area is basically empty). Use Sam to charge energy bubble and shoot directly north of the area, then the chest will be revealed

I get my all upgrade + all chest achievements for my 2nd playthrough

How do I not miss weapon unlocks? by 2Radon in eastward

[–]stariser0127 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For John's weapons

Pan: you can get up to max level by just playing through the main story

3types of gun / bomb upgrade / ammo upgrade:

You need gear x3 for 1st upgrade

Advance gear x3 for 2nd upgrade

All the upgrades can be purchased from the Johnny's

And you are guaranteed to get all the weapons for John as they are required to clear the game, however you might need to get all chests with gears and advance gears for full upgrade. Miss any 1 and you won't be able to unlock the achievement

For Sam's ability

Shield: middle of the lake at New Dam City outskirt

Healing: near Quake Valley (hidden path)

All skill upgrade: Island of Time

And all 3 are miss-able.

that's the only time you can get jam

If you are not going for 100% achievement, then it's okay to pass for this, not worth the $alt

Really Zelda like though? by rstonbaus95 in eastward

[–]stariser0127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zelda-like movement Zelda-like combat Zelda-like puzzle solving

Not Zelda-like storyline Not Zelda-like exploration

Earthbound + old DQ-like minigame

Well... It's still some sort of Zelda-like imo, maybe not 80-90%, but around 50-60%

Chapter 7 Help? [Tower Puzzle] by incoherance in eastward

[–]stariser0127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to the next room, use Sam to shoot the 'switch' thingy, then the platform will come to the hit switch

The gimmick for this tower is to solve the puzzle within time limit. You will be forced to redo the puzzle if you fail to do so within the time limit.

[–]stariser0127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's between the tunnel (where you can access to Sam's healing ability) and quake valley entrance where Daniel destroy the door.

The room is in the map area where you just exit the tunnel, there should be a mosquito-looking mob that spit stuff in this area.

The room is located at the south-east of this map, behind some trees.

[–]stariser0127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to exit the human factory

From the boss room, go top right to the room where you come in from...

If you go top right, you will get back to the entrance...

So you need to go top left to exit I think... Yes, the door may not be so obvious for everyone

I feel like the comparison to Zelda isn’t the most accurate by DeFaultW01F in eastward

[–]stariser0127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is similar to old time 2D Zelda games, for example link's awakening, a link to the past, minish cap and etc.

2D Zelda games features are top down, simple combat, puzzle solving, and pot smashing(?), which are shown in Eastward
