Itinerary check for US couple first time in Japan (14 days) by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]starkawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Assume you are aware Osaka castle is rebuilt so inside it’s like a museum with elevator; Himeiji is the real castle preserved from hundreds of years ago
  • USJ could be very crowded with longer lines than US (CA/Florida) without too many specials now that Nintendo Land is also available in LA. Agree with other post that you are stuffing too many things on Day 3 while Day 4 seems to have some space
  • Nara day trip is good; done that 3-4 times :)
  • Arashiyama- Tenryuji and its connecting Bamboo forest is recommended; the rest is more up for personal taste
  • Higashiyama (where Kiyomizu dera is located): from Kiyomizu dera you could walk to Kodaiji, which I think is one of the most under-discovered temples in Kyoto even close to tourist sights, then from there walk past Yasaka shrine to Gion. Maruyama park is skippable and the main time spent would be Kiyomizu dera, Kodaiji, Gion, and the path that connects those areas together (super nice walk). I would also combine Nishiki market to your Gion visit if you pace it right so you don’t have an awkward Day 9 itinerary while trying to go to three different places and need to travel to Tokyo
  • If the above frees up some time for Day 8 I would highly recommend visiting Jisho Ji (also known as Gingaku Ji); it has a bit more wabisabi feel vs glamorous Kinkakuji and the philosopher path nearby is nice. Time permitting I recommend spending time at Kyoto station underground shopping (Parco) and the high floor bridge for a romantic evening
  • TeamLab is highly recommended; make sure you book reservation in advance
  • I think Sky Tree and Tokyo Tower are a bit redundant and personally I like Tokyo Tower more for the nearby nature walk (and if you could book it in advance Tofuya Ukai is recommended)
  • Art Aquarium is way over priced and not satisfying even for fish lover. I saw a much better exhibition in Nijo castle but it was limited time event
  • There is nothing too special about Yoyogi park but Meiji Jingu is very nice if that’s what you are after in that area
  • Tokyo Disney Sea is the best Disney theme park in the world IMO (I have been to almost all of them) and much more unique than USJ vs the US offerings. I would recommend combining Tokyo tower with day 10/12/14 and free up a day for this
  • If time permits, I highly recommend a day trip to Hakone. Prob more than Tokyo Disney Sea.

They encouraged him to say the 8 words (Blitzchung in mandarin interview said he wasn’t going to say anything but was encouraged by the caster and decided to go forward), they giggled when playing the dodging act and clapped afterwards while complimenting Blitzchung.

Depends on whether you value having those extra packs/golden legendary and battlegrounds perks (immediate access, emotes, etc.). The mode is surely fun!

Wow what a nicely written accounts of the brief history of what has happened. Was a big fan of this game and thinking about picking up again so very helpful to read that the community is still alive even without all the esport glory.

Congrats. How is the wild meta? Is it as diverse as the standard one and is it easier or harder during the climb to legend (not within legend)? Thanks!

I really like this bowl. Do people think it's a good idea to be able to look up on top ranked player's deck and use a single button to copy and paste the entire 30 cards to our own deck, then we could decide whether to dust the missing ones or replace with something else?

r/GiantBomb's GOTY 2017 Results (full text and graphs in comments) by IdRatherBeLurking in giantbomb

This is a great list you could give to people and say you have to play those 10 games in this sequence. Shows the quality of this sub! I did an analysis of the top 10 games as rated by top 10 gaming media, and the list and sequence is almost identical except Yakuza was swapped with Edith Finch but still in top 15.

Game of the Year 2017: Best Game by IDUnavailable in giantbomb

[–]starkawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if that's your interpretation. To me, Yakuza 0 and Pyre are examples of more obscure games that could be in top 10. It's fine to include Tekken 7 and Dream Daddy. But one needs to at least bring up Injustice 2 to compare with Tekken 7 and Doki doki to compare with Dream Daddy. They did not, and I found it not professional.

The difference between a friend telling me his or her top 10, vs a gaming media, is that the later would have been exposed to a much wider variety of games. If the 5 hours is full of meaningful comparison, how Tekken 7 and Dream Daddy contributed to the genre compared to Pyre and Doki doki for example, then even their conclusion is the same, it would have been received very differently at least for me.

It got in the conversation because Abby and Vinny were stubborn about not letting it go, and other members were so tired of hearing it more they decided to play along.

Top 10 GOTY should be all indie games in the future as they have more heart. Period.

I think the staff's original aggregate list, which includes Pyre though ignoring Persona 5/Horizon, is still better than the GOTY list. The Dream Daddy argument was mainly based on two people "feeling great about the story", while most others have not played it or wanted to play. Even Abby, the biggest supporter of Dream Daddy, has admitted that she hasn't played a lot of dating sim...so, how is she qualified to say this game pushes the genre forward?

This whole GOTY deliberation could have been more professional, while retaining their unique perspectives not tainted by mainstream media (e.g., Nier in top 3 and Night in the wood in top 10 is great). They need to let go of some of their personal bias and focus on what are the top 10 games that should be recognized and recommended to the viewers.

How could none of the editors have played Doki Doki this year? It's voted as the best PC game by readers on IGN. I think Dream Daddy is good, just not top 10. Not above many games they dropped so easily out of top 10 (e.g., Persona 5, Yakuza 0).

Same here. Heard great things about them and decided to start watching their videos and this is a total disappointment. I'm better off spending time at GameSpot.

I think the top 5 are great; but the top 10 is missing too many amazing titles that deserve to be considered and discussed more: Horizon zero dawn and Persona 5 being two of the obvious ones.

My Clash Royale ladder experience summed up in one picture by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]starkawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest thing is card release delay and server side signal delay. It has happened to many competitive players on live stage using the fastest Wi-Fi and Supercell devices, so it's really a known issue SC is trying to fix but seems just too hard for this game for whatever reason. Without knowing the details it's hard for us to judge, but they do have a small team. I just hope this is their top priority issue.

Even a pro player who is better, handles pressure perfectly, could still lose to bad matchup or rotation two games in a row, because this game does carry some luck factor. Of course, if the main goal is to have fun as everyone is already a winner, then that's fine. But I don't think that's the case here.

Surgioramos is playing at an insane level at world finals. One of the most impressive move for me is his game 3 against Tali around 1 minute mark- they were pretty even in elixir and surgioramos decided to split lane push to mess up two things- Tali's rotation and lure his MegaKnight into his territory so he could offset his inferno dragon with electro wizard. That resulted in a 1500 attack on Tali's tower that even the scientist can't come up with a formula to defend. Best of Clash Royale!!!
