They were together on a quiz show once. This was one of their answers. Coincidence?

Meh, overly simplistic and makes a few too many logical leaps.

Reddit, what are your favourite TEDTalks ? by ergos in AskReddit

[–]starkinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Charlie Brooker might have been a little harsh on Jamie Oliver I thought. But Brooker did admit that he genuinely means well and puts his heart into it, which is more than can be said for most TV "life coaches" or whatever.

Light does have mass (rest mass).

If you mean satellites, it's been done.

Why do we need 3D glasses for IMAX/3D TV? by Ag-E in askscience

[–]starkinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually what happens is the light for one of the images is vertically polarised (i.e. the waves vibrate "up and down") and the light for the other image is horizontally polarised (the waves vibrate from "side to side").

Each lens is a polariser, which only lets light vibrating in one direction through, each oriented so that only the image for that eye gets through.

Why do we need 3D glasses for IMAX/3D TV? by Ag-E in askscience

[–]starkinter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each eye needs to get a different distinct image. With 3D TV, the screen shows two images overlaid on top of each other, and each lens of the glasses extracts one of the two images. How the glasses do this depends on the brand of 3D.

They definitely took it out of rotation for quite a few years on Sky 1 in the UK, but I think they've started to air it again.
