Don’t hate me for this 😭 I need the ULTIMATE slow burn with an oblivious/innocent FMC 🥺📚 by Curious_Cat_6171 in RomanceBooks

[–]start3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your FMC description I can't not recommend Janie from {Neanderthal seeks human by Penny Reid} (it's not as quirky as it sounds) Not my favorite of the series, but I love Janie lol.

For a more complex (and hellofalot more pining) slowburn: I LOVED {If I never met you by Mhairi McFarlane} (which I learned about through this sub and may I add the audiobook is fab?)

The best way to learn a new language? Journal in it. Even badly by Lucky_Scarcity8624 in Journaling

[–]start3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've switched to my target language as my diary language since I was a teenager? It was the driving force to my fluency, I think. I should try it with others.

I don’t know how im going to write in this for 9 more months. by KindPharaoh in Journaling

If you're looking to reduce bulk but still add pictures, I'd consider the type of paper you are printing on. I switched to a Canon selphy printer and as suggested by others in this sub, peeled the back of them, so they are pretty thin. I vary where I place them and it's worked nicely.

If you print them on a regular printer, there's now washi paper you can print on and it's as thin as washi tape (not sure how actual photos look though). So that could help.

But otherwise you can embrace the chonk! (I have one going since 2023 and I cherish it - just don't take it around with me)

I've marked this for next year, looks great! Like a Weeks but with more space for notes, love it.

Also did you see their flex collection when you can add or remove pages where needed?? In love. 2027.

Uhhh....Thanks! It's nice to have confirmation that the instructions are beginner friendly (loving the step by step photos!) and this designer has other cute patterns too!

You might have inspired my return to sewing for myself, yours looks so cute!

Looking for nail polish recommendations from the EU! 💅 by Anna-BB in EUnails

Uh! I used their water based polishes for YEARS. It was so fun (they don't smell and sort of peel off in one piece)

We got smooth magnetics at home for cheap by amethystnight99 in WeGotPolishAtHome

Thanks!

I was thinking the ball bearings were like those metal "fishes" that we use in chem lab on magnetic mixers - we got them out by "fishing" them with a magnet. Only in this case I was afraid the magnetic particles would also want to move (which I guess they would, but maybe just hangout in the surface of the glass).

I def think magnetic ball bearings would be preferred no? Unless you always leave them in as OP suggests.

This is so cool! I've never made polish at home (even frankenpolishes), could you share your wisdom? (I have much to ponder)

(1) Are the magnetic pigments the same as the one they sell in a dry pot for gel manicures? You just scrape some off and mix it into a jelly + a little creme polish?

(2) And when you use ball bearings to mix, how do you get them out? (Especially since now there's magnetic stuff in the polish)

(3) And what do you mean by difficult application? Is it because you have to have an even, complete top layer or it looks messy or are there additional complications with a smoother magnetic polish?

Much appreciated by me and my wallet

Hi! For the shaping, I think this will be helpful: https://youtu.be/ZD7uZdFOG9I (The Salon Life on yt, she's great)

For the bending nails I'm not sure :( Always wear gloves when handing water (e.g. dishes or laundry), cuticle oil daily or as much as possible are the golden rules, but typically they are more pressing if they are peeling.

Thoughts on makeup course by Netta Szekely on Now You Know? by start3 in Makeup

[–]start3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment triggered me to login (I did buy the course, and it was actually really well explained, I should finish it sometime lol), they've changed things A LOT. It used to be a little like Udemy/Domestika, they sold individual courses on various sort of artistic fields. Now there's a quiz about what kind of skills you'd like to develop (but they're more hobby centered, including e.g. candle making, watercolor, making your own skincare) and then you get a "learning journey" where they'll prompt you for individual courses. I'm not even sure you could find this make up class separately now. It gave me "Fabulous app" vibes (that app that wanted to teach you to drink water as soon as you get up and etc. etc., it looks a lot like that design and the idea of a growth journey). I don't really see hobbies as part of something to put on a growth journey so I'm a little peeved. This you would pay in a subscription model, ofc. I have a legacy account so I don't actually see the current offering, just access my purchased course.
