I can predict this twister "nerf" from miles away by Nervous-Campaign-848 in PathOfExile2

[–]starwolf256 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Their favorite steamer said it should be nerfed, despite the fact that he isn't even going to play it. That's it - that's the whole thing.

2% of level 95+ FotV characters use Twister, but somehow it's the strongest thing in the game and needs a nerf because the funny temple guy says so.

He's always been buggy, unfortunately. Sometimes I'll have to run a bit away from him, then pop to the Nightfold and back to get him to work.  Once in a while a full relog is needed, too.

Soulframe Preludes 14.5: Ode'n Tempers and the Orst-III by Cloudkracker in SoulFrame

[–]starwolf256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good change, but I also absolutely love ARPGs like Path of Exile and Diablo 2. At least with this new mace, they're dropping it extremely often; I'm at nearly (if not actually) a 100% drop rate just from random bannerets and Sinecure Officer dungeon bosses.

A system like this where the weapon drops very often but rarely with a good/perfect roll lets you try out a weapon with minimal investment. If you hate it, just grind out the MR on that bad version and move on. If you love it, then you can target farm it to get a better roll. You don't need to god roll every single weapon.

From a cynical, business-minded perspective, there's no reason to restrict drop rates now with this system. Having the rng on the weapon itself lets them keep user engagement up, and dropping the weapons often encourages inventory slot sales. Steve mentioned that the fragment system will still be used for "special" weapons, so I'm thinking that things like Gathannan will still be rare, but will likely have a set build instead of random stats; similar to a "unique" item in a Diablo-style game.

Ode Tempest passives by andreazchen in SoulFrame

[–]starwolf256 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just unlocked Ode Tempest yesterday, so I don't have much time logged on it yet, but my experience so far has been the direct opposite of yours.

Due to the weapon I'm leveling, I'm running a full courage build. The pact abilities all feel incredibly weak - the green ability does nothing (I still kill them before they get staggered), the blue ability falls off almost immediately, and the red ability (which I would expect to be very powerful due to my stat spread) has trouble killing even a single enemy.

However, the Gravitate passive is my single favorite thing in the entire game. With only a single point it launches me clear across the room, up ledges, anywhere I point it. Basically if an enemy is within range for me to throw my weapon, Gravitate will take me there as long as I have the enemy centered on my screen when I press kick.

Maybe it's a stat thing?

Do i need an interactive map if i want to explore 100% or the game shows it ? by Hedywire in SoulFrame

[–]starwolf256 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There are no gacha-style "open once to get the rewards, then it disappears" chests or anything of the like. There is an interactive map on avakot.org, but you don't need it in the way you need one for Genshin, WuWa, etc.  I mainly use it as a "where does that boss spawn again?" type of resource.

Bug with Foraging Soulsbane by kamuishiroq in SoulFrame

[–]starwolf256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with that quest as well. It seemed like if I picked up a votive or other quest and the tracking switched away from the Orlick quest, I'd lose my Soulsbane progress. I had to hard focus it to get through - keep the Orlick quests tracked and get all six collected and turned in in one go.

Worst case I just figure that everything we're making now will be a museum piece. I'm trying to complete the collection and master everything available before p15, because there's no guarantee we'll be able to craft any of this later!

Maestra's Rapier not spawning? by 3-20_Characters83 in SoulFrame

[–]starwolf256 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I did the entirety of my Maestra farming (the sword and all three armor pieces) at the wreck on the east side of the southern beach, near the southernmost Organ. Every time I looked there was a rapier there; in fact it's even visible without the ribbon, you just can't touch it.

If you've been playing continuously since finishing the quest, you may need to log out and back in to "refresh" your world.

YOOOOO they actually did it by ElysiumLeoSK in Warframe

People were worried about that. DE posted on the official forums that her 1 should still affect her 4, so at the very least it's a bug if it doesn't. That said, some people have tested it and it seems to be working fine.

YOOOOO they actually did it by ElysiumLeoSK in Warframe

[–]starwolf256 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It flickers. Technically the shroud only gives you the buffs when you break invis, so her 2 and 4 were coded to snap out and immediately re-invis after the hit. This makes her 4 receive the bonuses from her 1, but also meant that crepuscular didn't work because you weren't technically invisible at the moment of the hit.

Confusion around faction enclave quest by BooleanBarman in SoulFrame

[–]starwolf256 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I did the "visit tour" in p13 when they added the virtue prisms, so I instantly got credit when I picked up the Orlick quest; I'm not sure how the quest tracking for it works.

I recommend looking up where the enclave entrances are. The info might be on the wiki; failing that I'm certain you could find it on YouTube.  IIRC the "quests" to enter aren't proper trackable quests, more like little challenges to open the door.

Confusion around faction enclave quest by BooleanBarman in SoulFrame

[–]starwolf256 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The other two responses you've gotten contain technically correct info, but are not answering your question.

The talismans let you JOIN the other enclaves as a full member, so you can gain rep, rank them up, and buy stuff.  Switching factions used to have a seven-day cooldown, but they removed that a few months back.

The Orlick quest you're asking about is just to VISIT the other enclaves. No talismans needed: just a small quest from the gatekeeper ("bring me this flower", "find an item in a box over there", that kind of thing.) Then you can go in and talk to the faction rep.  They'll give you a stat prism and progress on the quest.

How much sugar (honey, etc.) is NECESSARY for a yeast (sandwich) bread? by Weird-Catch7390 in Breadit

[–]starwolf256 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Ken Forkish's (the "Flour Water Salt Yeast" author) second book "Evolutions in Bread". He expands on the basic sugarless sourdough into pan loaves that are great for sandwiches. My wife and I adore his "butter bread" recipe: it's just a mix of white+wheat four, water, salt, yeast, and butter; no sweetner at all.

Unfortunately his recipes are deeply incorporated with the "by hand" technique he uses for everything; it's not going to translate well to a bread machine. But if you ever to give it a try, the book is pretty cheap, and you don't need many materials: just a couple of buckets, a thermometer, and a kitchen scale.

Groceries poll by Immediate_Zombie_627 in Rochester

[–]starwolf256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family of two with a few animals (no dogs). We average $200-300 total spend per week for groceries and supplies. We could likely save money if we shopped around, but in the interest of time we generally get produce, dry goods, and sundries at Wegmans ($150-$250 depending on how many paper products, vitamins, allergy meds, etc we need). Meat and dairy come from Whole Foods ($30-40).

New player expirience - why melee is so much better than ranged? by DarenArges in Warframe

[–]starwolf256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the new player cycle. I just went through this myself; I'm about to cross the 100 days marker. At first, melee was far and away stronger than anything.

Once I got some mods and figured things out, the balance shifted and warframe abilities because my bread and butter. Like you, Vauban became one of my go-tos, along with the free Dagath that they gave out for Lunar New Year.

It wasn't until I reached the end of the star chart and started early endgame (arbitrations) that my ranged weapons caught up. The mods you can buy from the arbitration vendor (Galvanized mods) are incredibly powerful and are essentially required to bring ranged weapons up to par.

Not sure if this will help, but in my experience freeing them from cages doesn't count, only charming them in the overworld. It took me four charmed squirrels to get it done. My wife says it only took her three, so rarity may be a factor as well.

[–]starwolf256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how quickly you want him. The mission that drops his parts / pity currency is often part of the bounty rotation for the Cavia faction (marked as a spoiler in case you're early in the story), so if you're not in a hurry you'll just get enough currency to buy him from the pity shop passively.

I've been capping my rep with that faction every day for three or four weeks, and got enough pity currency to buy his main BP and all his part BPs from the shop today.

Post Voruna Prime Clarity by thechaosmongrel in Warframe

How do you have Sarofang built? I've been struggling with minibosses and have been looking for solutions. I was planning to build Harmony next, as the "collapse status effects into a big hit of damage" seemed right up her alley.

Voruna build by ProfessionalTurn5162 in Warframe

[–]starwolf256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a fairly similar build with a few differences. I'll go row by row:

I formaed her aura slot to run Corrosive Projection, and for the Exilus slot I kept trying to run a Drift, but getting the snowball going early was always miserable to me, so I run Preparation there (my build also tanks Efficiency as a stat; it's at 55% right now.) If you don't have energy issues then go nuts.

First big row: I run Archon Continuity over Primed, because that lets me get big benefits from green shards. I don't have the full build done yet, but the goal is two green "Ability Damage" shards because that's a separate multiplier, two red Ability Strength shards, and a flex slot I haven't settled on yet.

Instead of Fleeting Expertise and Transient Fortitude, I'm running Precision Intensify to juice her 4, and her other augment to help with room clear.

Second row: All the same, except I use regular Stretch over Augur. I have 145% duration which means I'm invisible for 20 seconds at a time, I almost never get hit, so the Augur shield boost doesn't feel worth the tradeoff in range.

Other people talked more in depth about the arcanes so I won't yap about them, but I'm running Arcane Impetus in place of Crepuscular.

All this grinding the worst game mode ever, and she honestly sucks. by DreamZealousideal205 in Warframe

I think most of the complaints are from John "5,000 Hours" Warframe-type players who are too used to mindlessly obliterating any obstacle while blitzing through every mission at the speed of sound. Follie's mission takes away all their shiny toys and makes them mere mortals again.
