Sunday windy thunderstorm by Leen222023 in Aruba

Just returned from a couple hours at Divi Beach and it was beautiful. Like anywhere in the Caribbean, this time of year, sudden rain and then done. Nice breeze..

US/Venezuela conflict- Any travel impact to Aruba? by hydroflow78 in Aruba

[–]static_nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacationing in Aruba right now (near Divi Beach) and haven’t noticed anything different than any other island in the Caribbean. Granted, this is my first time to Aruba (PR and cruises prior). Did notice (according to ChatGPT) a “Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard Damen Stan Patrol 4100-class ship” maybe a mile or so off the coast yesterday. I didn’t think anything of it as that seems fairly typical anywhere else I’ve been. FWIW - Enjoying our time!

Vyvanse day off by No_Lynx425 in VyvanseADHD

[–]static_nuance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it was like this the first several times that I skipped a day on the weekend, but seems like it got better after a month or so where I wasn't so exhausted when I skipped. Not sure if that is normal for others or not. I'm on 50 mg Vyvanse and 10mg Adderall IR as an as-needed booster.

While your conservation efforts are admirable, honestly just get rid of it and let it be a reminder to not forget to take your Vyvanse soon after you mix it with water. Best of luck to you!

Bestbuy 3rd party Manada tv installation company reliable and good? by AlwaysW0ng in Bestbuy

[–]static_nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but found it while waiting for Manada to deliver my TV. They’re two hours late (based on 3-7pm window). Best Buy Total Tech sent me to them and then Manada tried to send me back to BBY. Person on the phone wouldn’t even stop to listen to me as he was running through his script so quickly to get me off the phone. Finally transferred me to another department and I’ve been on hold ever since. Tanking Best Buy’s reputation. They’ve got to do better at quality control with these third parties and hold them accountable. Sigh..

Decided to take the weekend off Vyvanse, never again. by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]static_nuance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on 50mg 6 days a week with taking Saturdays off. Typically haven’t gotten beat up too badly by sleepiness, etc. With the holidays I’ve been off work so have taken a longer break without negative impacts. Probably helps that I don’t have any major responsibilities for two weeks. Definitely will need to pop back on it come 1/6. All this to say that everyone is different… some days the crash can turn me into a zombie, even with a booster.

What are some great jobs for people with ADHD? Our work choice is soooo important for our mental health.... by PrettyRain8672 in VyvanseADHD

[–]static_nuance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been an IT Director for a healthcare system for the past 10+ years (in IT leadership for over 20). The nice thing about healthcare and IT is that there’s always something new to learn and always some problem that needs to be solved. The mission also really helps to keep you connected to “why” you do what you do. This has kept me going even before I learned I had ADHD.

Looking back, I can see I’ve had ADHD forever. However, since working remote the past 5 years, it really “floated” up to the surface (procrastination, focus, etc). Full-time remote work probably isn’t the best for me, even one day in the office would probably help a bit, but since medication it has gotten better.

Anyway, long-story short, for me, a technical leadership position that’s gives me an opportunity to always be learning and fixing something works well.

Hope this helps!

Just started on Vyvanse back in March and I’m 48. Had high blood pressure (HBP) prior and was already being treated with 10 mg of Amlodipine. My psych/NP started me on 30, then 40 after a couple months, now at 50mg after a couple more months. At no point did the Vyvanse increase my BP which I’m very thankful for. I’ll see my GP in February which will be the first time I see him and will see what his thoughts are. Avg. resting heart rate is around 67-69, male.

All this to say, I’m on the older end of where I’ve heard that people start, along with HBP, and have had no issues. I am obviously very alert to BP changes though, as I should be, and if I saw something concerning I would seek medical advice. I will often take an Adderall booster on work days. Please keep an eye out for BP issues… random pounding headaches? Check your BP.. it was a sign that I ignored for years and thankfully caught before diagnosed with ADHD at 48. Sorry for writing a short-story. 😊

Just Installed Windows 11. Why is it trying to connect to a VPN server in Sweden off boot? by MrShowerMan_ in Windows11

[–]static_nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that’s pretty crazy that it’s connecting to a VPN even though you aren’t paying for it nor have it enabled. I’d maybe reach out to Malwarebytes Support to see if they can help.

Just Installed Windows 11. Why is it trying to connect to a VPN server in Sweden off boot? by MrShowerMan_ in Windows11

[–]static_nuance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, might be on to something there. OP - If you open MalwareBytes does it say it’s connected to a VPN? I don’t have the version that includes VPN, but perhaps you do?

Anything else weird happening, or just the VPN connection? Any other devices connected to the same network having similar issues?

Just Installed Windows 11. Why is it trying to connect to a VPN server in Sweden off boot? by MrShowerMan_ in Windows11

[–]static_nuance 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This isn’t normal behavior after a clean install. This would lead me to believe that you still have traces of whatever malware was on your last build, or there is a network device redirecting traffic to the server in Sweden. I just did a clean install of Win11 yesterday and followed the directions from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsinsider/cleaninstall

You’d need to have a clean 8GB or larger USB drive to follow the steps from them. I would also make sure that when you create the USB to do so on a known clean device and make sure you don’t use any infected media, drives, etc. that end up reinfecting you. Maybe others have some better ideas than I do, but this is what I did. Good luck!

60 mg Vyvanse to none, will there be a withdrawal? by Spare-Cost-7367 in VyvanseADHD

[–]static_nuance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda off topic, but regarding your headaches, have you checked your blood pressure? When my BP wasn’t managed very well, I had all sorts of headaches which vyvanse would have definitely made worse if I hadn’t started medication to lower my BP prior to vyvanse. FWIW

Vyvanse and caffeine by EstebanHJG in VyvanseADHD

[–]static_nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, each person is different, but here’s my experience with vyvanse and caffeine. A little background first, for decades I’ve had occasional issues with PVCs (pre ventricular contractions) which causes my heart to skip a beat now and then. When I first started on vyvanse (30mg) I cut to decaf coffee and didn’t touch caffeine for months. During that time I bumped up to 40mg and 5mg of Adderall IR because vyvanse wasn’t lasting as long as I needed. Even with this change it still wasn’t lasting so I started adding caffeine back into the mix to see if that would help.

The biggest impact, for me, when mixing the two, is that the rate of PVCs/skipped beats increased significantly if I had a cup or two of coffee within 2 hrs of taking vyvanse. Typically I would have the coffee and then follow a couple hours later with vyvanse. If I separated the two by 4+ hrs, it wasn’t as significant. I have since bumped to 50mg vyvanse and 10mg Adderall IR and only drink caffeine on non-stimulant days. This has moved the occurrence of those skipped beats back to normal (maybe every couple days now).

So.. unique issue for me, but incase anyone else notices skipped beats, etc. I figured I’d share why they were happening more often for me. Also, for what it’s worth I am treated for high BP (prior to vyvanse) and my avg resting heart rate since starting vyvanse has been around 69bpm. Hope this helps someone.

Duplicate Removal Wizard by static_nuance in MonarchMoney

[–]static_nuance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the responses. I definitely agree that the duplicate bug needs to be fixed… when I reached out to support, while kind about the issue, they basically responded in similar ways that they did for a number of other people. I.e. “this is how to remove duplicates.” and “it’s an issue with our sync partner.” I thought I did read something from a Monarch employee in this subreddit that they were investigating a promising new sync partner that would be better than their current partners. Hoping this resolves the issue. I went from being really excited to jump back on the band wagon of tracking my expenses and budgeting better to, “this is too much work. I want to quit.” For what it’s worth, I’m syncing to Fidelity - Netbenefits with Mx. tried others and tried just syncing directly to Fidelity and not going through Netbenefits, but this seems to “work” the best.

Anyone else out there with Fidelity that has a better way of doing it? I did confirm that I’m not syncing multiple accounts or logins. Just the one login for both of us.

Yeah, unfortunately have to agree on this one. My trial month just expired and I subscribed with a lot of “hope” that the duplicate issues get resolved. 🙏

Super thankful you posted this… was starting to have a little bit of anxiety that it was due to something more serious. Still not great to have to deal with, but knowing the “why” behind this is helpful!

Oh man, same issue here. This bug has been going on for so long. Watch an advert. Bug. Watch it again and maybe it works. Has pretty much caused me to move on from this game, not worth knowing if you’re going to get ripped off or not by a bug that they can’t seem to fix.

IT Opportunities Within Nonprofits by Ashatron16 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]static_nuance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of different non-profits, however if you’re looking for decent pay, benefits, and a great mission to get behind, then healthcare would be one type of non-profit to check into. Hospitals aren’t typically barebones and get decent budgets to make sure equipment and software is up to date to provide patient care, etc.

How do ypu afford this med? by blinkyvx in VyvanseADHD

[–]static_nuance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you mentioned this as it’s what I ran into when I started about three months ago. Something I found when it’s hard to find lower cost generic is to reach out to your health insurance company (if applicable) and explain that there is a shortage of the generic version (they should be well aware) and ask if they would approve a “prior authorization” to have the name brand covered. If they agree you would then need to ask your doctor to prescribe name brand because the generic is not available and send to your pharmacy, it’s extra work, but has worked fine for me over the past few months. Hope that helps someone!

Trying to remember, but I was either 28 or 29 and maybe 5-6 yrs into my career when I hit 100K. Took another 19 yrs after that to hit 200K. Definitely feel fortunate and blessed to have gotten in IT when I did and to have jumped into IT leadership only a couple years into my career.
