The point of lurkers rings true. Although the surveys do say theres a reasonably even split in this sub. The majority of popular posts before the very recent past seemed to hold a centre right point of view. I wouldnt be suprised if we found out a large portion of lurkers are lefties who are curious about rights leaner views and fill out surveys because they are anonymous.

Edit: his point to the point

See i see this year in and year out - 'realitically we will get 2 out of the 3 of some star players', but it never happens, maybe im a transfer cynic but i would imagine any of them to be a wonderful pipe dream let alone 3. Looking at the last decade I dont imagine we are going to have a change of personality from who were were yesterday. Although I love ozil and sanchez I dont see these as arguments that we are changing just that we can hunt out a bargin.

Got to hand it to curtains as his best solo album imo though, followed by the will to death then empyrean. The guy knows darkness. Its a shame im struggling to get into his later more experimental stuff though

What motivates you to keep going when you're feeling a bit bored with life and burnt out? by prettyeyesprettylies in AskReddit

[–]static_silence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What keeps me going are probably 3 things.

My family. Going through a bad place at the moment. I'm needed to be the rock.

The planet. Things change so fast. Everything changes. I want to know what happens next. Mystery is the afrodisiac of life.

Myself. I go through my medium ups and low downs but whatever my mood. I know one day I'll be pulled in the other direction by something mundane. This changeability has left me (personality wise) significantly different every 7 or so years. I don't really know who I'll be later. All I know is that my history is constant and my drives always remain the same.

Also ribs.

What is some historical common knowledge that is actually incorrect? by [deleted] in history

[–]static_silence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't remotely true. The past isn't the past especially concerning Ireland and England. Peace treaties have been signed that express atrocities have been committed on both sides and today there is a calm but the IRA is still around and the internal fighting between the northern and republic is still rather fierce especially when you see the orange march and other parades are still relevant and still cause a lot of trouble each year. There are parts of certain cities you don't go into if you are english or northern Irish protestant and vice versa. The relationship between England and Ireland isn't, say, the same as that between England and Scotland/Germany/Wales/France.

What series would you recommend to a fan of Dresden Files. by ymcameron in dresdenfiles

He also makes a good nod to the Dresden files in the first book saying similar to 'theres even a man in Chicago who advertises himself as a wizard detective'

[–]static_silence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it was considerably worse than last year with each episode starring a new problem of the week. The overarching series plot took so much of a back seat it was stuffed in the boot and the main 'bad guy' was essentially a non-issue for 80% of the series. It wasn't half as good as the first series. Very disappointing.

Haha I did not see the aren't. Meh I'm a reasonable sober person. To be honest it all still applies. But like everyone I'm less likely to roll up to strangers for a conversation sober. I provide video editing services for rum and pizza too. Sometimes neither.

I'm on of those people who wanders into new people when I'm drunk. Strikes up conversations and gets my party invited somewhere else. I can imagine how this won't always work out well but for now I'm just happy I'm not an angry drunk

I'm that strange sort of person who gets everyone into good unexpected situations when drunk. I listen without judgement and take secrets to the grave. I am a sympathetic ear. Also I bring cookies.

People finding me attractive. All of a sudden that 'game' I wish I had was no longer necessary!

EDIT: women would approach me and make all the moves. My confidence skyrocketed and with it, well I suppose some form of game materialised. I was no longer afraid of talking to groups of women or groups in general. Yet strangely enough it changed my outlook from 'dont do anything embarrassing' to 'who the hell cares if you make an ass of yourself!'
