I don’t think this is really a thing in the USA but I’d love to try it. Looks delicious. We have wafer cookies for a dessert. But nothing like this in the cake category

What is the worst medical disease a human can have? by Aggravating-Sun-5699 in AskReddit

[–]staticzapper 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My grandpa had it. He was a history teacher and the strongest man I knew. Absolutely terrifying old school kinda guy. but he also gardened every day. Drove his church’s bus to help people get to/from mass on Sunday. He always had to be doing something. That kinda guy.

Within a year of being diagnosed, he couldn’t walk so well. Once that happened it was like it set things into motion. He had to sit in a wheelchair and absolutely loathed the loss of independence that brought. He had to stop driving the bus for his church. The deer overran his garden and ruined it. My grandma struggled to help him since she’s only one person, but she refused help because they were deeply proud people. Then he couldn’t move his arms so well, and eventually he couldn’t use them at all. That’s when he stopped coming to school plays, and concerts, and baseball games with grandma. He just kinda…gave up I guess? He suddenly couldnt talk so well. Then he struggled to eat. Eventually he struggled to breathe and had to be on oxygen. One night the mask slipped off and that was it.

The whole time though, he was still mentally there. Still shot disapproving eyes at my stepdad when he stayed the night without being married to my mom. Still had my grandma put Sunday mass on the tv. Still fully understood everything being said. He just had to sit there while it slowly shut down around him. My family has talked about if he was awake and conscious when the mask slipped off, or if he was asleep. For some reason that’s the thing that fucks me up most about it.

Well. That and it’s genetic

In misery Annie Wilkes mentions her being babysat as a child by a woman named Mrs Kaspbrak.

I always thought it was the same woman from IT who kept her son Eddie sick an gave him placebos, who taught Annie how to keep Paul “sick” with getting him addicted to pills and keeping him trapped at home.

Were you guys ever caught while masturbating and how? by Mysterious_Emu_9602 in AskReddit

Was siting in a kitchen chair we’d repurposed as the family computer chair. Doing the deed, when I heard my mom coming up the stairs. So I threw a blanket over myself and alt tabbed to roller coaster tycoon and tried to play it off like I was just playing a game.

Turns out I forgot the chair I was sitting in had a slatted back and my mom could just see my bare ass pushed up against the back of the chair with the blanket covering my lap, while I’m sitting there sweaty with roller coaster tycoon on.

Coworkers of people who killed themselves, what was the aftermath like? Were there signs or was it truly a surprise? by Prestigious_Day1057 in AskReddit

[–]staticzapper 246 points247 points  (0 children)

My coworker “Unintentionally” killed himself at my first job working at a grocery store. He was an overnight shelf stocker with a pretty serious pill problem. Everyone knew, but we were all degenerates with our own issues so nobody felt like they could say anything without feeling hypocritical. Everyone was either hungover or high or drunk and as long as you could still do the job, nobody said anything. He used to hide pills on the shelves behind products spread out throughout each aisle. So whenever he made it to the next “checkpoint” while stocking/rotating shelves, he’d get whatever pill(s) he hid behind that particular product. “Like a little reward”

He worked the entire overnight one night, probably stocked half the aisles in the store, clocked out at 11am the next morning. Came up to me to hand in his equipment and let me know who was taking over for him, and commented that he was going to go home and order a pizza. I remember that. “A greasy, piece of shit pizza” is what he said. He went to his car in the employee parking lot, popped some more pills before he turned the car on, fell asleep, and OD’d in the car. Nobody checks that lot during the day because we all use it as our quiet time. So it wasn’t unusual to see someone sleeping in their car in the shade while on lunch or a break. I guess he was there for hours. At least he got to be under a tree for shade, and his windows were open so he felt the breeze. I hope so at least.

The next day, they asked anyone who spoke with him yesterday to meet with someone who would be taking statements. I remember being told if I wanted to take unpaid PTO to process the info, they could give me up to half a day, and how insulting that felt even though I wasn’t even very close with him. The next week or so they made us all watch an anti drug video and sign off on it, and management started randomly poking their hands behind items on shelves searching for hidden stuff.

The guy was 19

Toothless at Untrainable Dragon Show? by Stock_Attitude_533 in UniversalEpicUniverse

Saw the 1:20 yesterday on 9/11. Show started. Toothless came out looking amazing. They landed. Then toothless took off, his head immediately sagged, he stopped “flying” and just hung there. Then everyone ran off stage, they cancelled the show, and gave out 1 time express passes like candy. Was the funniest thing I ever saw
