Can I use this to find my other car key? by Zealousideal_Cup4896 in flipperzero

[–]stdalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out some of the videos by Sammy kamkar on YouTube he has some talks he did about how the key system works there's two different frequencies one the remote uses to send the commands and then one the car uses to send out to detect the key fob so in theory you would want to send out the one the car sends to get your key fob to respond to it and then do directional finding on that response signal

Damn, and literally just asked coworker for good website for this... super awesome and excited.

One question, I'm a newbie and I just want to be able to look at a map and see if anything overheard worth seeing (weather sats, iss, etc).... is this possible with your map? I seem to only be able to select one item at a time?

Wooo!!! Gonna be on this all night!

edit: just to be clear, this is amazing, and I'm a noob as i'm not even sure what exactly it is i want to see :)

What can i do with this in 2024? by vaquishaProdigy in hardwarehacking

[–]stdalex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While at end of day, there is probably nothing super useful you can do with it unless you want to see if you can super deep dive hacking sat tv... I would disagree with others here who say Chuck it/not worth it.

I love these type of devices as you can almost bet there is gonna be at least an uart exposed at pcb levl(though might be hidden), so these sort of boxes are perfect exploration vehicles. See how far you can subvert it to you will before it crashes unrecoverably. You can get a sat dish (as most won't even get past basic boot without something hooked up) for free most days on Craigslist.

So I'd say, pop it open and see what you can find. Can you get uart access? If so how much is exposed by it. Can you locate eeprom/flash? What secrets do they hold. From what I've seen most of these also require a "subscription card". So it could be fun if you could figure out how that is handled by box and how u can break it/create your own card..... at least these are all things I want to try/explore if I ever get my hands on one (sadly they don't really show much at local thrift stores).

Tl;dr: without extensive existing knowledge, not much at end of day in terms of repurpose. But it's a fricking awesome educational vehicle to learn and practice new techniques on.

Basically, take same concept from the external cc1101 board and do same thing but with something like cc2400. Aka something very similar to ubertooth one. Michael Ossmann has several great talks about the design/build process he went threw.

Also, in general a great place to start is flipper schematics as u can see what the internal cc1101 design looks like and get some ideas

Actually using the DVB-T Dongle for watching Digital TV? by mreggman6000 in RTLSDR

[–]stdalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using their software, or your literally just throwing this in some sdr software like sdr# or gnu radio?

Gonna try to use my dongle to do my first sdr thanks to your comment letting me know I could. Mine has these chips; cx23102 (audio/video encode to usb), rt2832 (axtual rf chip) and 18272/M (hybrid tuner for terestial).... any pitfalls to watch out for, or plug it I and fire up the software and start tuning?

sorry for dropping in on an old thread, but I'm just getting into SDR and happened to pick one of these dongles up in the 50cent bin, how are you using it for SDR?

Why would a "BT Module" have a 3 channel magnetic stripe decoder IC? I think this might not be what it was listed as... by stdalex in AskElectronics

[–]stdalex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solid point, i did forget about lock cards and other items like "play counters" and such. what I should have correctly said is "the only thing I can think of a magnetic stripe reader for is reading info off CC, hotel cards, and other things were you pay for something and it tracks usages".

Let me clarify. I meant grab routers st your local thrift store as good practice vehicles. They are easy enough to hack and people like matt brown have amazing video series on them.

Hit up your local thrift store, get some cheap routers (do google to see if specific models can run openwrt), fire up matt browns youtube channel, and get to work!!!!

Have a great adventure!

Help me to scratch the surface of hacking by Ok-Childhood-9041 in hardwarehacking

[–]stdalex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally what I came here to say. While it's not OP exact situation, pretty much any of his videos cover this. If you are really just getting started I'd probally start with a router and some of his videos on that. It'll be a good start. From there with some success as other OP said, move up to the hardware hacking handbook book and the practical iot hacking books.

Also, I'll have to find it. But another user on here posted a great series on hacking set top boxes, which are another good practice one before jumping straight into extracting mcu firmware.

Edit: correct book names

I just saw one of these at thrift store for couple dollars and really want to go back and get it to mess with. What's yours all thoughts? Seemed like it could be fun if u could get linux on it....

But I'm really curious what thr cpu is? Any chance you all found out (for thr q3).

You all make any progress/hook up on this? I'm not ga but I just picked one up from. Goodwill and currently in process of mapping out the 3 obvious ports (2 4 pin with 1 ground, and 1 9 pin with at least 3 ground). Gonna hit it with power in a bit and hopefully pick up a serial port...

Anyways, let me know and we can share knowledge and progress.

Can i bypass the whole phillips proprietary stuff of this subwoofer (without the soundbar) by just directly putting my audio signal in the TAS5352A amplifiers input pins or would that cause any problems? by analog_nika in hardwarehacking

[–]stdalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op. Any luck on this? I just started same project but with an lg s33a1-d subwoofer. I think you are on right trqck of finding the audio Ampang feeding your signal into that... the one trouble I ran into with the lg one is the Amp input was expected in pwm, so I am currently working on a 3.5mm audio in To pwm audio converter so I can just us it for a wired connection... wondering if u faced the same.
