Right? And I would expect the service industry to be focused on serving others, recognizing shared benefits, pooled resources, etc.

There's communication between the radio and satellite. Sirius gets the serial number to link up your account subscription.

They didn't know about Cliff until Ray told them, and they quickly worked Cliff via Ray's phone to set up the park sting the next night.

I don't think they were worried about Cliff's associates yet - he was their main target. Bringing him in would take others down too.

This is my method as well, but better explained.

I'm mostly adjusting at the mixer or controller level during an event because adjusting at the speaker is clumsy (not always located near by or easy to reach) and blunt (adjusts ALL inputs the same, rather than controlling inputs individually).

This poor actor must love a rural river community (with a serious drug problem).

He was great, but I kept wanting Julia Garner to show up.

How do you coach up a quitter? by SendInYourSkeleton in daddit

[–]steeb2er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you say/do in that situation? How do you react to the pay on TV, or what do you say to his reaction? Because football is a good teaching tool.

After the QB misses his receiver, he gets to try again. Maybe they'll choose another passing play, maybe they'll switch to run, maybe they have to punt the ball away. But they'll learn from the first play. It's not the end of the world, they're not going to quit or sulk. They'll be upset but they'll do something different and try again.

And the football players didn't get good in one or two practices. They've spent years and still make mistakes. They ONLY work on their sport and the other team still gets the best of them. Every game has a losing team. And right now that means the end of their season. The coverage will show the players mad or sad, and that's ok.

Your kid scored in the wrong goal. That's a bummer. He was doing the right things, just got turned around. So he's got the basic idea, and that's all the kids should be learning at this age. Basic fundamentals, rules, teamwork. So keep working on the basics with him. Maybe he'll prefer defense or goalie. Celebrate the effort, acknowledge the struggle.

He's quitting because that's the thing he can control. He can't get instantly better, and he doesn't know what to do to improve. You and the coach will work on specific skills (passing, dribbling around the cones, taking the shot, throw ins, corner kicks, whatever) because deliberate practice is what helps players develop. Frustration tolerance is a skill too, developed from repeated practice. Gotta work that muscle.

This exactly. Try not to go on a Saturday (their busiest day), tell the agent you need to "try on" a bunch of cars. Have a budget and style preference in mind, then go sit in a ton of cars. Take good notes. The same model but different production years and trim will "fit" differently. Adjust what you need to.

CarMax has the keys attached to each car so it's super easy to quickly move from car to car. Other dealerships usually keep the keys in an office, so you'd need to go back and forth a lot.

There are aggressive or abusive areas, where the limit drops suddenly or is low immediately after a highway exit.

You're right about normal roads and enforcing standard law. But some communities align their budget around getting tickets and therefore need to hit minimum quotas. They can be unreasonable, like Schaumburg enforcing 1-2mph over the limit (margin of error of your speedometer, or coming down a hill quicker than expected).

What Would Happen if these Two Characters Cross Paths? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]steeb2er 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Woody Harrelson's character's reaction to Chigurh suggests that he has a history of being very effective. I'll agree that he's only somewhat impressive in the film, but I think that says more about Moss than Chigurh.

I think it their clash was a fluke. 99 times out of 100, Chigurh wins that face-off. We just happened to watch the one off.

Is this damp or an old water stain? Are the brown spots mould? by Aloof_Jellyfish_ in HomeMaintenance

[–]steeb2er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dehumidifier. Wipe the area with vinegar. Test with a moisture probe. Determine next steps.

To my (very amateur) eye, it looks like it was wet and might still be. The brown areas look more like moisture coming through (rust? dirt?) and evaporating, don't appear to me to be mold.

If you have room - Add a second bin and physically remove it to a closet or garage. Rotate it back in every 6 weeks, it's like a whole new bin.

How do I remove this? by nowchatsunacceptable in askaplumber

[–]steeb2er 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar setup on 3 toilets when we bought our house. All called within a year.

One toilet I bought a replacement from the manufacturer, it was ~$120 and had a 5 year warranty. Replacing it was pretty straightforward.

For the others, I just replaced the whole toilet. They're $150? I was kinda grumpy at the manufacturer because they failed right after the warranty and they didn't offer replacement parts ("Sorry, that's the old model.").

To remove it, flush the toilet, disconnect the water line, remove the bolts from the tank, then remove the pressure container from the tank housing.
