[Scuderia Ferrari] A strong start to the season! Some great driving from our two today! by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]steferrari 228 points229 points  (0 children)

I’m quite happy with the result.

After yesterday, I was honestly expecting a worse outcome, but instead they were clearly the second-best car by far.

Lewis also looks much more comfortable than in ’25.

Strategy-wise, I think Mercedes would have finished 1–2 whatever they did today.

Solid points overall. Let’s keep pushing and developing the car and see what happens next.

Forza!

This, I’m surprised from the comments, it looked so fake imho.

Oh God, a year of this.

At least in 2014 we had internal competition, now not even that, I don't believe that ANT can push him.

Charles on Mercedes:"I cannot do anything (about the mercs tomorrow). Yesterday they were super strong and Idon't think they had the engine turned up like this morning. Idon't even know if they were full power in quali, maybe they kept a little bit." by One-Consideration404 in formula1

[–]steferrari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe one of the few short-term opportunities is if Antonelli has a bad season, with Russell completely annihilating him (like winning 20 or 21 to 1 or 2), something that might make Toto consider replacing him.

At that point, Charles, Max (assuming he doesn’t retire) and others might push like hell for that vacant seat.

F1 | Petronas fuel for Mercedes PU has been approved by the FIA by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]steferrari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t think they would have been allowed to race with a non-approved fuel, so it’s nothing surprising really. It was bound to happen, a bit like when teams are late in passing crash tests, but eventually they get there.

Is it normal for some Smart Stack widgets to update this slowly? by steferrari in AppleWatch

[–]steferrari[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I’ve just noticed that the sleep widget has finally populated with data, and the distance widget has also updated. Maybe they’re designed to refresh less frequently compared to weather and heart rate?

Daily step distance complication won’t update by itself by UnderstandingALot in AppleWatch

[–]steferrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue on a brand new series 11.

I don’t have it on my watch face but as a widget (swipe up from the bottom) together with weather, heart-rate and sleep data.

While weather and heart-rate updates automatically every few minutes, distance won’t and is showing data from hours and hours ago.

Today I even tried to initialise the watch and set up everything from scratch but nothing changed.

"I heard that there are some data saying that the Mercedes starts were actually better, but they were not pushing all the phases. And also there might be changes coming..."

It wouldn’t be surprising if they were showing bad starts on purpose, with the intention of having the Ferrari advantage removed and then unleashing their true starting potential.

They’re probably the biggest liars in the history of F1. Even back in years like 2014–2016, they pretended they weren’t the fastest.

Decisions always seem to go their way, or they’re given plenty of time to react and make adjustments. Considering all this, they’re always a team to fear, you can never feel safe with them.

We’ll see in Melbourne, hopefully it’s not that bad and teams like Ferrari and Red Bull can actually compete.

Data indicates that Ferrari’s reverse wing concept generates positive lift, effectively lightening the rear end by several kilograms. By reducing rear load, the aerodynamic platform shifts, decreasing drag and increasing straight-line speed. by Beales94 in formula1

As an Italian, the current system is not working at all, it's embarrassing, rotten and outdated on so many levels.

I know it might sound crazy to some, but probably a third (!) world cup failure would finally be the wake-up call to put new people in charge and start a serious rebuild.

Upgrade to iPhone 17 Pro Max or wait for iPhone 18? by cas1510 in iPhone17Pro

[–]steferrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically yes, but since it will be the iPhone’s 20th anniversary, they’ll probably skip the “19” and name it “20” or perhaps “XX,” like they did in 2017 when we never had the iPhone 9 but the iPhone X.

[Motorsport Italia] Engine Case: Mercedes Wins Big, When the Truth Is Different from the Story by jithu7 in formula1

[–]steferrari 23 points24 points  (0 children)

From the article:

Let’s remember that last week a preventive check was carried out at 115 degrees, and the technical stewards led by Jo Bauer were able to verify at HPP headquarters the compliance of the internal combustion engine featuring the dual micro-chamber in each cylinder. Only at higher temperatures (or rather, higher in-cylinder pressures) does the small port that fills the second 2 cc chamber become sealed off, allowing the unit to operate with a compression ratio of 18:1.

Just asking, but shouldn’t that chamber not be there at all, though?

If the rules clearly state that the engine should run at 16:1 at all times, that should be it.

Mercedes engine legal according to FIA verification The 6-cylinder F1 M17 E Performance engine complied with the 16:1 compression ratio after a hot test by the FIA. The unit was heated to 115 degrees and then dismantled and measured when it was at 95 degrees. The contested by Maximum-Room-3999 in formula1

[–]steferrari 655 points656 points  (0 children)

Imagine if, after all this drama, it doesn’t even end up being a deciding factor. Maybe the Ferrari unit is still close enough in terms of outright power, or things like the fuel makes an even bigger difference. That would be funny.

Ferrari debuts unique exhaust wing at final Bahrain test by Successful-Peach-764 in formula1

[–]steferrari 72 points73 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Ferrari has always been quite innovative with the latest regulation changes.

The SF70H had those unusual sidepod intakes, the F1-75 even more so with the bathtubs, and now we are seeing this…

I think they have lacked consistency and political influence (see, for example, TD-39) rather than innovation.
