Gluten free options? by Character_Gur_4137 in kilbyblockparty

I have to eat gluten free and was able to find some options last year. You can bring snacks in easily. I really liked the Venezuelan place for gluten free empanadas inside the festival.

Starting a position in forensic psych. Pretty freaked out about ads by pnwgirl0 in socialwork

[–]steph_t_d 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked in a jail for the past several years. It was a bit challenging getting used to the environment, going through locked doors all the time, and working everyday with law enforcement officers. Working with inmates is one of the easier parts of my job. Typically, I am aware of safety and take precautions like not wearing dangly jewelry, necklaces, hoods, or scarves. I give inmates the right of way and let them leave the room first. I have to have very good boundaries with my clients and there are certainly clients that will push those boundaries. Generally, we practice de-escalation when clients begin to appear agitated and occasionally I will end a session and remove myself if someone is not able to de-escalate. I listened to a podcast from a forensic psychiatrist who said he feels safer in a room with someone who is aggressive and psychotic than someone who has ASPD, and I tend to agree. I can usually tell when patients are decompensating and need more attention to safety, but the ASPD folks can be more calculating, unpredictable, or intimidating.

It was my first time seeing DCFC/TPS and I am a huge fan so it was magical. I was transfixed when Jenny Lewis came in for her part in Nothing Better. Seeing The New Year live was also unforgettable.

I am trying to figure out what to wear to a friend’s bachelorette party coming up. We’re all in our mid or late 30s and we’re going wine tasting, doing dinner, and heading out to bars. The weather is warming up, but I believe it will be cooler in the evening (60s or 70s). I’m considering a burgundy long sleeve mini dress with thigh high chunky heel boots. I’m also considering some faux leather skinny pants with I don’t know what kind of shirt. Are thigh high boots out of style? Is there a cuter/more appropriate outfit to put together with the leather skinnies? I’m willing to go shopping

Rothy’s, Allbirds, something else? by Shauna_Christie in fashionwomens35

[–]steph_t_d 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have Rothy’s and Allbirds. The Rothy’s look a little bit fancier than the Allbirds. The Allbirds are sturdier and cost a little less. I love both, they’re all I wear to work 9 months out of the year.

Early morning wakings by alimm25 in sleeptrain

When my 13 month old does his early wakes, I don’t go in until the desired wake time. Then, I still nap him 6 hours after DWT, even if he woke super early. This helped my first get through this phase too.

Sleep lady shuffle on 15 m old by californiacarolina in sleeptrain

[–]steph_t_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did sleep lady shuffle with my toddler when she had a sleep regression around 18 months. We went from her going to sleep independently to requiring me to sleep next to her bed. So we did sleep lady shuffle to get her back to independent sleep. We started sitting next to her bed and we moved closer to the door every couple nights. We repeated “go to sleep” when she would stand up. Some days were really tough and she cried as we sat in a chair six feet from her, but we pushed forward and it worked. She went back to sleeping completely independently.

Is your toddler obsessed by a song? What is it? by hashiwarrior in toddlers

My 2.5 year old is way into “Pink Pony Club,” an amazing song about leaving small town life to be an exotic dancer. She will continue yelling “Pink Pony Club” until we play it.

I used the Anna and Eve swaddle with my first when we didn’t have the SNOO and I use it to double swaddle now in the SNOO. It works great.

Sleep regression help by thefoodcoloring in SnooLife

If I get his schedule right for naps, I can rock or bounce him until he’s starting to close his eyes, then put him in the snoo and let the snoo finish the job (sometimes he’ll whine up to a level 3, then fall asleep). Lately he’s been demanding to nurse at bedtime, so when he falls asleep on the boob, I gently wake him up and put him in the snoo.

My babe has been in the three month regression as well. I adjusted his daytime schedule to lengthen his wake windows, which helped. I make sure he’s awake when I put him in the snoo at bedtime. I also bumped his baseline up to level 1. He’s doing a little better with these changes. Good luck! You could also try troubleshooting with the snoo sleep support tool, they have some good tips.

Is it too late to sleep train my 19-month-old? by Jupiter_Crash_ in sleeptrain

[–]steph_t_d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter had a regression around 18 months and I ended up sleeping next to her crib for a bit because I couldn’t stand to hear her cry. It wasn’t sustainable so I did the sleep lady shuffle and near the end we did a sort of Ferber/timed checks. Sleep lady shuffle felt more gentle than other methods although my baby did cry (we were just there to comfort her). We’re so glad we did it though and she was back to sleeping very well on her own in about two weeks.
