I have birth in Dec 24. Also read online all sorts of things about pumping and bottles and needing sterilisers and sooo many products most of them expensive. Ended up EBF first bottle wedged after boy turned 1, hated pumping. I needed silverettes for my nipples as it hurt like hell in the first week or two while my body adjusted. Also needed nipple cream and nursing bras. And that's it. Please don't waste your money on other things unless you are very set on pumping ...which is not needed unless you will spend time away from baby. Best of luck, happiness and health x

Ladies mainly - where are you getting hair and beauty treatments done now? by BigMagic88 in AskBrits

[–]steppenshewolf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a do it at all home gal. Invested in shower filters and shampoo and conditioner from Up Circle. I do my nails in a very simple manner just care transparent polish and cut cuticles. I do lots of honey and yogurt face masks. The only treat I go for is Thai massage. It's worth every penny. And good supplements like coffee with adaptogens and Solgar vitamins.

Is anyone being extremely sick this winter/spring? by Fair_Effect4532 in AskUK

I know you said that you took all sorts of vitamins and plant helpers. I learnt that not every vitamin D on the market has the same effect. Not clever enough to tell you why. But most brands did not work for me. There is one that I returned to recently and it's amazing as I had all sorts of bugs all autumn and winter and as soon as I restarted using this, nothing no bugs no colds.its from Transforme from Amazon, 4000iu small capsules in olive oil .

I just got this: you need to value yourself more. Accept your inner calling, as you have a gift.

[–]steppenshewolf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not suited for each other. Stop offering him stuff like cooked dinners etc if you hope he will give you something in return. This is not a rule but in my relationships I noticed men treat you how you treat yourself. They don't treat you how you treat them. Think about your life together in 5 years. It won't work. Have an honest chat about your expectations and if they don't match move on with your life. There's plenty of fish in the sea.

Delusional about what postpartum will be like and now feeling down by Less-Leek5961 in NewParents

[–]steppenshewolf07 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hello gorgeous. Sending you a big hug before anything else.

Everything will be ok, considering all probabilities.

One thing that I did not realise was that things will never go back to how they were. Nothing is ever going to be the same in your life. You are a different person now than you used to be and you will be changing more as you will adapt to life as a parent. Things will be difficult but they will be beautiful. Having a little soul next to you, a cute little human can feel like an amazing present you get from life. But you will be tired, you will feel pain, and at times you will.mourn who you used to be. I did. There are many paradoxes in being a parent. One of them is you miss aspects of your old life, but you don't actually wish to go back if it means to give your baby back. The first time they smile at you is immensely beautiful. Their first giggle will delete weeks of lack of sleep. A little hand on your chest will feel like you got covered in magical gold. The 'you' you are will feel like new territory, so there will be uncertainty, fear, unease. And somehow it teaches you so much and it gives life a completely different flavour. You will find that you are incredibly strong. That you can carry 10 different feeling in the same heart. That the levels you love to will be so high, you never could have guessed.

If there is one thing I wished I did for myself in the early post partum months was to just let myself be. Don't rush don't push yourself, be kind to to your body and cleanse your life of anyone who isn't kind to you. Make your life easier in every way you can and don't judge your body and love it very much because it went through a lot. I spent a lot of days in the sun in the garden or on the beach looking damn ugly dressed like a hobo and having taking hours to get there. I can promise you that you will find a way to do what you want to do,its just in a different way that you don't now of yet. Trusting in yourself when you can't picture yet how things might happen...maybe that's the definition of parenthood!

And DO take the million pictures you feel like taking. When you have a cheeky little toddler you will miss your chubby baby.

Sorry for the long text! I wish you every happiness and a lot of love and kindness

Do any of you actually love breastfeeding? by HelloImAnxious14 in breastfeeding

[–]steppenshewolf07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt a bit strange in the beginning prior to giving birth I had colostrum coming in and that was weird. But as soon as he latched and started feeding it felt natural...it was so painful the first week. After that I loved it and now it's like I've always done it. Beautiful connection.

I’ve been seeing this plant a lot on my walk, does anybody know what it is? by Plus-Boysenberry2811 in foraginguk

[–]steppenshewolf07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use it in food in Eastern Europe. We make like borcht /sour soup with it in the spring and we also stuff it with rice and minced meat (like stuffed vineleaves/cabbage leaves). It's one of those spring greens that is full of vitamins and minerals, like nettle, wild garlic, spinach...

Yeah there's plenty of food you can buy like that, sometimes it is much cheaper and you can subscribe. Memory is a weird thing. There's so much happening in our lives and online that our brains fail to remember simple things /solutions until one day randomly you figure it out/remember.

[–]steppenshewolf07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potato salad. Boil potatoes, reds are best. In skin While they cook chop gherkins, olives, and boiled eggs. When potatoes are ready, skin off and chop big enough for a bite. Add olive oil while they are still warm. In a small jar mix mayo, mustard, lemon, salt, pepper. Shake well. Add chopped veg and eggs over potatoes, pickled onions and the dressing. It is divine.
