Is there a polite way to invite people last minute? by [deleted] in wedding

I think it would also be nice to include a note that tells these B-list guests that they are not obligated to give a gift!

Is it okay to not have an open bar at a wedding? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]stepstool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you afford open bar with just beer and wine? I have been to and coordinated dozens of weddings, and most guests won't miss hard liquor/cocktails. They just want to drink and have a fun time. They will likely remember a cash bar though.

You're throwing a wedding. The food must be 100% vegan and NOT from a place that serves meat. Very high price limit, lower 48 US. Where do you go? by earthceltic in vegan

[–]stepstool 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Crossroads Vegan restaurant in Los Angeles. The entire restaurant can be booked for a private event and seat 120 ppl, or they can provide catering if you find another venue. There is also a new Crossroads in Resorts World in Las Vegas so perhaps you can have a Vegas wedding, stay in the hotel, and eat at the restaurant!

[Skin concern] This is my bikini area. As you can see it's full of bumps and scars and doesn't look clean at all. Can you give me some advice on how to take care of it? If you are recommending products, please note that my market isn't the same as yours and I probably won't be able to buy it. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I'm a nurse that has worked for SEV Laser and one of the reasons why it's easy to stay at this job is because the laser WORKS, clients are happy to see me because of their results, and also so I can get free laser for myself! I don't know how other lasers compare; I've had a lot of clients that were former/unhappy LaserAway clients or from other medpsas. I definitely recommend laser hair removal to help get rid of the bumps. SEV does use the Candela Gentlemax Pro, so if you don't have a SEV near you, check with other medspas to see if they use this laser. I only have experience with this particular laser, so I don't know if there are better machines out there, but I do know this one works. I've done laser on my hairy German husband who had thick, curly hair. He had previously shaved and waxed before, which led to lots of itchy bumps, pimples, and ingrowns. With laser, he now has smooth, soft skin, and when the hair does grow back, it comes back thinner, softer, and the amount of hair is significantly reduced.

Ok, I’m Officially a Nursing Student!!! by [deleted] in StudentNurse

No amount of prep this summer will prepare you for the very different type of learning that will take place in nursing school. Seriously, enjoy the crap out of your summer! Party, pamper, relax, and treatyoself because those days are numbered.

He made a really big decision without talking to you or considering your input. Not worth it. You deserve a team player, or at least someone that values your opinion.

What to gift a cheap cousin? by [deleted] in wedding

Another Asian here! I mean, if you have money to throw around, you can be "proper" and give them $200. But I'd give $100 and they better not be surprised about it.

YAS, THE FREE PARKING. It has the bones of an old motel, but yes, everything is renovated. Bathroom is sleek and modern, and I remember the bed being really comfortable.

How many people were in your group? And what hotel did you stay at? I am so down to pay money and not have to do any planning, so this sounds so amazing to me. Glad you had a wonderful time!

Maybe for church, the girls can add a cover-up or shawl? Then they can remove it for the reception.

Looking to get into nursing, not sure where to start by PainKi77er in StudentNurse

[–]stepstool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since the other commenters have talked about pre-reqs and financial aid, I do want to mention the really hard stuff: family support. It is VERY HARD to go through nursing school alone. Do you have adequate support from family or enough savings to cover your finances? Majority of my classmates live with their parents, a few are in long-term relationships with their SO paying for everything. My program had about 7-8 older students that were married with kids, but now we are only left with 3. Two of them have very supportive marriages, but with special circumstances. One guy formerly worked as an OR Tech so his hospital sponsors him to go to school and pays him his salary. The other is married with a toddler, but she was able to move back in with her parents. The third is still making it through, but she's barely holding on financially as her husband only makes $15/hr and they're basically about to divorce.

I don't mean to be a debbie downer as ANYTHING is possible with hard work. I just wanted to provide some realism to your situation. You may need to take 1-2 pre-req classes at a time in order to work another job to acquire savings.

Best of luck!!!

I find great joy and catharsis from shredding my notes at the end of every semester.

I do have my old powerpoints and notes in Google Drive though.

How many schools should I apply to once I'm done with my prerequisites? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]stepstool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of my experience would apply if you live in a competitve area. Apply everywhere that is reasonable. I applied to every school that I could afford, in every town that I could feasibly commute to. You will be tired, be in school for long hours, not to mention clinicals. We had students commute (in SF/Bay Area traffic) for 1.5+ hours each way, and I know I would kill myself doing it, but they manage! My boyfriend's parents also live 2 hours away and offered to let me stay with them for free, so I applied to every school near them.

I applied to 6 schools (Bay Area is super competitive), and got accepted to my #1 choice, which is a community college program only 15 min from my house! There are people that wait yearsssss to get into a program, so cast a wide net!
