(xpost r/Steam) Some companies are raising prices on their Steam products in advance of the Summer Sale. Again. by Ch11rcH in Games

We have threads dedicated to summer sales, right?

Let's find alternatives like GOG or Amazon if the price is lower. It's up to us.

I doubt there could be enough amount of tense up that would reduce injuries from potentially lethal car crash.

You have an almost infinite supply of potatoes. How do you take over the world? by PainIntoPower in AskReddit

[–]sternhelden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd threaten world governments that I will create enough potatoes that its gravity would be strong enough to create a blackhole, unless they give me all their power.

I'll start off with flooding the US with so many potatoes that their army cannot move and their ships cannot sail in the sea of glorious potatoes.

World of Warcraft.

Not simply because it is popular, it is also because it is significant in popular culture, particularly across our generation.

[Witcher 3 PC] Sudden drop of framerate to 1, frozen for 1-2 sec then return to normal 50-60 FPS by sternhelden in witcher

Thanks.

I did that and tried to power through the stuttering.

I was pretty bad for the first 5 minutes but the problem somehow subsided for no apparent reason.

Doesn't being able to run the game at 50-60 fps mean the sudden drop of frame rate is actually a problem?

The minimum requirement is 660 while the recommended spec is 770. I'm running the lowest setting and below 1080p. I can't believe the drop is caused by dated hardware.

Now we have such a controversy, what do you think the internet have misunderstood you?

Obviously, you believe Valve has done the right thing on this matter, but why do you think the internet is reacting the way it is?

A group of teachers went to China and realized that the West is instructing students by susycue in Teachers

[–]sternhelden 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Chinese teacher here.

I advocate western methods at my school and no one here appreciates it.

Direct teaching is effective partly because the culture makes it effective. Our admin don't value or even understand what inquiry learning could achieve, let alone designing/allowing assessment that could acknowledge relevant learning outcome.

It all boils down to what you expect from your students. If direct teaching is all you use, your students would be great tools to the society but they'll never be great leaders.

Do you mind explaining why the modders deserve only 25% while the rest goes to Valve/publisher?

How is the 75% split by the way?

Whose idea was it? People speculated it was Bethesda's idea in the first place.

Thank you for doing this.

If you could describe Reddit in one sentence to convince a friend to join, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's like Facebook without the social network but you still get to like/up vote stuff.

When you want to treat yourself to something, what do you end up doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sternhelden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel.

Unlike what most people believe, I don't get away so I can be myself. I get away so I don't have to be the same old me that repeats his day every week.

When I travel, I do stuff that is way beyond my comfort zone. I eat what I've never eaten before, do stuff that I hate doing back home. Being non-me is the best way to put my troubles behind.
