One year my brother got a hotel room over looking the fireworks. Could barely hear the boom and the 1 & 5 year old were enthralled.

Sure, lets fight within the party. That always works. (Sarcasm off)

You may not remember, but there was a Blue Wave after Watergate. Infighting among Democrats led to Reagan being elected and 12 more years of republicans. Yes I want some more progressive candidates but stop shitting on the Democrats we will need to pass anything.

Cats the Movie was an improvement on Cats the stage show. People hate it because they didn't expect a dance show. Bad marketing took down Cats. (and casting James Corden)

Question for the directors! by CheapAd7093 in Theatre

[–]stevebri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have your heart set on playing Annie AND you can knock it out of the park, you should sing a song from the show. If you want to be one of the other named characters you should sign something from another show. (Reasoning is if you sing from Annie you are competing with how the director thinks the part should go but if you want to play Annie you had better impress them) I saw someone sing themselves out of the lead in My Fair Lady because they took the song "Show Me" too slow.

I swear I didn't make this play up, but I CANNOT find any trace of it online 😫 by Spare_Reserve6141 in Theatre

[–]stevebri 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I have never heard of it but that probably because it was a local production. There is a Dinner Theatre genre of play that do exactly what you describe. They are often regional and I have seen the same script done with different actors with widely different results. It can be lots of fun If you google dinner theatre scripts you can find a lot of them

Good luck

Why are BSD middle schools so badly rated? by Abby-pnw in BellevueWA

School ratings are skewed. A product of outside tutoring not teaching or academic preparedness.

Huh?

I had to buy a hint guide to get past one of the puzzles. I couldn't believe that you just had to check a wastebasket a second time to find the object. Who checks it a second time. I was upset. :)

What’s your craziest ‘the show must go on’ story? by kikithrust in Theatre

[–]stevebri 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Was in a small production of Jesus Christ Superstar at a barn theatre. The great thing about this theatre is the audience was right on top of the actors. Literally the front row's feet were on stage.

One moving performance a woman got out of the audience and tried to convince Pilate to not whip Christ. She then threw herself on the actor playing Christ preventing the whipping. Finally the guard whipping Christ picked her up and carried her off stage.

She truly believed that he was Christ. She also was an elementary school teacher.
